The New York Rangers are buying out defenseman Dan Girardi. Girardi, 33, had three years left on his contract. The buyout will be spread over six years, with a $2.6 million cap hit next season, a $3.6 million hit the following two, and a $1.1 million hit in the final three. Girardi played 788 games for the Rangers, plus 122 more in the playoffs. Alas, all those heavy minutes took their toll. Over his career, Girardi blocked?1,691 shots for the Rangers, plus 347 more in the playoffs. ?I poured my heart and soul into this team for the past 11 seasons and I enjoyed every minute of it,? Giradi wrote in a lengthy statement. ?I want to acknowledge that the Rangers are a first class organization who have always treated our players in a first class fashion. ??I also wanted to thank all of the Blueshirt faithful. You are one of the best and most passionate fan bases in the NHL. I appreciate your support over the years.?
Vegas would be dumb to sign anyone during their window because they would forfeit their EDraft pick from his former team. They could just tell the guy that agrees to wait until July 1st.
It looks like Chad Johnson will come back to Buffalo to back up Rob Lehner. On the collegiate front, Cal Petersen, G, Notre Dame, appears set to sign with the LAK in July.
Strangely, I'm not upset. Cal did what virtually everyone in America gets to do - choose his employer. Plus, regardless of the potential displayed, the success record for highly acclaimed young goalies blows dead donkey dick. I do hope that we never hear about Cal again.
Steve Mason won?t be back with?Flyers The free agent market figures to be crowded and unpredictable, but one thing seems clear: Steve Mason won?t return to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Philadelphia Inquirer?s Sam Carchidi reports that ?his ship has sailed? when it comes to re-signing with Philly. One got the impression that this would be a possibility when the Flyers signed Michal Neuvirth to a two-year extension with Mason?s situation unresolved... _________________________________
^^^ good! that 175 foot goal you allowed in the playoffs was strike 1. you're inconsistency in games back to back was strike 2 and you bitching about splitting time when you play 56-58 games last year showed you can't add and you were the main goalie. that's strike 3. no thanks. The Flyers only need a goalie for a 2 yr stretch till Hart, Stolarz or another goalie is ready.
Dmitry Orlov re-signs with the Capitals for 6 years and $30.6 million. He could have been a restricted free agent tomorrow.
https://www.broadstreethockey.com/2...ontract-extension-flyers-nhl-free-agency-2017 Blues fans are laughing at Flyers fans on Facebook about this move. Many are saying Elliot is worse than Mason. I have no idea as I barely seen any Blues games. I posted a article about the $9.5 mil the Flyers have left bf this move was made on the Flyers thread. It doesn't appear to be many changes coming to Philly this summer besides as many as 6-7 prospects possibly playing if they make the team. Again, no money to buy the offense they so desperately need.
I'm not ready to agree with this. I also think that it's possible that Hex knows more about NHL goalies than all of us combined.
