I'm kind of surprised that he didn't take the offer, makes me wonder why he even included them as one of the teams.

Kind of bummed for him; I thought he was a good fit there. I'm hearing Tim may go to the Nucks.

Big blow to the isles, EC teams have to like that the isles aren't a playoff contender anymore, make way for the canes.

Wait, I thought it was all about the taxes? Or was it height? Or... Hmm...

Hot damn there’s a lot of money getting tossed around.
First and foremost, congrats skinny and Joe on landing the big fish. Screw you guys. I don’t blame JT one bit for leaving the NYI, cesspool that place.
TB quickly made the best of their situation and locked down McDonagh. I have a suspicion that they may not love him at that number for the last couple of seasons of that contract.

Dumbass, he's getting almost the same as stamkos after tax, stamkos has better numbers.

Looks like one florida team knows how to work the cap and goes places while the other is run by a louse and its fans are stupid too.

Dumbass, that's in no way relevant to your repeated attempt of a point, which is that these players can go to tax-light places to play on great teams for the same or more money. He goes to Canada. Get bent. You could've just said, "Yeah, I guess taxes weren't a big deal after all. We got Tavares"! Instead, you then try and come after my team and fan base. I forgot what a waste of space troll you were. Enjoy Tavares. Go have another drink.

He'll be replacing Sateri as G#3, but it's a one year, one way deal. So it's the same NHL cap money, regardless. Interested to see where Sateri ends up. He played real well in his brief NHL time.

Sorry if you share the same iq as Tallon and can't see how big of an advantage having a team in florida could be.

Tavares market price is $8.5M, he compares to stamkos and tampa wasn't paying more, so the leafs matched the offer.
Tampa and the leafs have two players that compare, stamkos is better and tampa has $2.5M more cap space to show for it.
It's easier to keep your players for less money than other teams offer at free agency time because of the after-tax money.
The team that plays in the tax-free state will have larger cap space to work with *if* the gm knows how to deal with the negotiations. They can be favorable to both parties and is ahead of most other teams in the league as far as cap space goes.
Sorry, but I think tallon is out of his league compared to yzerman.

    Victor Hedman $7.8M.

    Comparable, Drew Doughty $11M.

That's another $3.2M in cap space, you counting?

3.2+2.5= $5.7M more cap space than the nhl market.

skinny. I think you're taking this too far. Way too far. Hedman and Doughty are not comparable on an after-tax basis. Doughty is pocketing a lot more coin than Hedman.

Some will sacrifice money to play in a citythat they'd rather be in. For example, JT was reportedly offered 7 years at $13MM AAV (SJ or BOS?). We know he was offered 8 years by Lou. He turn down money and term to go where he wanted to go. Good for him.

You argued strongly (and IMO ad naseum) for the advantages FL and TX offered from an after tax financial perspective. You claimed it would be a major selling point. (Later, you waffled on what the fuck you meant with that statement.) You even had the audacity to claim that you never made this claim - within the same page on the board as when you explicitly made the claim in writing. The backpeddaling was - at best - ineffectual.

So, you calling an esteemed member of this board a dumbass is way too much. Disparaging his IQ is, hmmm, odd. You have left it too easy for us to challenge your intelligence. I'd like you to enjoy your day. But, your making it hard by turning nasty on someone who simply does not deserve your shit. Stop it.
