I would be more than fine with that. I appreciate the info, Will. If this team wants to be a serious contender, it needs more weapons. One of the causes of our offensive ineptitude is our complete lack of movement once we're established in the offensive zone. The entire team will pass the puck, and just wait for something to happen, rather than moving to help make things happen. Vanek hasn't done that. So, just in that, he's helping with a serious problem we have. But I digress - this is about Free Agency, not Florida's failings.
i for one would never try to guess what tallen does, but he has made my head scratch quite a few times. vanek has moved around for a reason. a multi-year contract on him would make me piss my pants.
You never know with some of these kids. Griffin Molino has wheels, but at 170 lbs needs at least a year in Utica.
Charlie McAvoy has signed an ATO with Boston; they do not want to burn a year off his ELC before he's 20 y.o. Personally, I wish Charlie were a Sabre.
Fatface in Providence for '17 is best case scenario. Cup is inevitable for the Broonz next year. Just you wait til Donato's kid gets here.
Spencer Foo is skipping his senior year. I only recognize the name because it's going to make for some bad tv commentary. I have no idea if he's a suck or not.
I really want Foo to sign with Buffalo, (ain't happening, BTW). I would love to see the Pu-Foo (or Foo-Pu) line one day. BTW, Cliff Pu is gonna be a goodun one day. My guess is Foo will sign with the Oil. Foo - to goo - to oil; I kinda like that. Suck is a noun, for your information; otherwise, "he a suck" would not make sense. Foo will be less of a suck if he signs with Buffalo, but he projects to be a decent bottom six guy.
That was a stellar example of proving a point, Matty. Pretty impressive the way you put the hammer down on anyone who would quibble with the suck foo debate. Inconvertible proof!
I'm liking this CJ Smith F that the Sabres signed out of UMass Lowell. He has speed, he plays a 200' game, and despite not being huge, he plays a heavy puck possession game. Traits the Sabres need, for sure. I also like that he has a genuine blue collar work ethic; that'll play well in Rochester and hopefully one day* in Buffalo. In fact, his blue collar mentality is one of the main reasons he chose Buffalo over his numerous suitors. He will play out this season * in Buffalo. That'll burn a year off his 2-year ELC. I actually like that for an undrafted college FA. He has extra motivation to get a second contract (he basically has one year to prove himself). And, if he doesn't progress then Buffalo can cut bait sooner. My guess, after checking up on him a bit, is that he will eventually develop in to the kind of bottom six player that helps a team win championships.
BTW, the tea leaves indicate that Cal Peterson, G, Notre Dame, will sign with the Sabres after the Frozen Four in Chitown. Cal has been ridiculous for stretches and would rival the Vesey frenzy if he were to return to ND and then become an UFA after next season. (He is the primary reason I pegged the Irish for the Frozen Four, he is a genuine first-rate prospect at this point.) I hope his career rivals another 5th round G pick by Buffalo that chose the NCAA route. (Ryan Miller, Michigan St.)
Cal Peterson is a captain at ND, don't see too many goalies wearing the C. He's a lefty though and lefties are for sucks. Also goes to ND........a big time suck. Even the Anders Bjork gets that suck check mark too.
