I think McD and leon will be to the oilers what Crosby and Malkin have been to the pens, I see at least two SC's.

the 1 thing Crosby and Malkin did all this time was take less money so they could afford other players. i think Crosby makes his jersey # in salary (also his birthday) of $8.787 million or something like that. For him, that's a steal 10x over.

The Oilers had a great playoff run last year and look to build to that success. Play the chess pieces the right way and the Cup could be coming back to Oiler country!! Ugh.

Gus "The Lion Killer" Girgensons signed a two year $1.6MM AAV contract. The Sabres have no more unsigned players. They are on the short list for two of the more coveted UFA collegiate: Will Butcher, D, Denver Univ.(Avs pick), and Blaine Byron, C, Univ. of Maine (Pens pick).

I maintain that Gus could be dealt; he is still very young and could be a great bottom pair C. In fact, he's the kind of player the Pens are reported to be in the market for.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be one of the teams making a pitch to college free agent Will Butcher.

Butcher became an unrestricted free agent after not agreeing to terms on a contract with the Colorado Avalanche, who owned his rights. The Sabres, Golden Knights and Devils have also been linked to Butcher. "A player like that’s going to have several teams in that same category, but a Hobey Baker winner and a good young player," Pens GM Jim Rutherford said. "We will be in that mix with other teams."

One team that definitely is not trying to sign Will Butcher. The Toronto Maple Leafs.

    Damned 50 contract org. limit.

I saw that this morning, Butcher's official NHL shower. Send him gifts early and often as he is swayed by trinkets and shiny things.

David Pastrnak is still without a contract for the upcoming season, with time ticking before training camps open in a few weeks.

That said, it’s been reported in the Boston Globe that the Bruins have offered Pastrnak a long-term contract that would pay him $6 million annually — which would put him alongside David Backes as the fourth highest paid forward on the club, according to CapFriendly.

According to Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe, the Bruins have left the length of the deal, either six or seven years, up to the 21-year-old Pastrnak, who broke out last season for 34 goals and 70 points in 75 games.

The Bruins currently have about $10.1 million in cap space with only Pastrnak remaining to get under contract.
