Congrats, Matty, on a shrewd move. In the real world BOS may need to get in front of BUF to get the D you want.

Otherwise, I'm very happy to have Nylander "fall" to the Sabres. He adds much needed speed and could be Jack's winger for the next decade +.

We still need to address D, but this may be the team's last chance in years to draft an elite F.

 

I was leaning taking Olli if I stayed. You likely weren't getting him anyways.

I had 4 guys I liked after the top-3, and Chychrun is the guy I'd have taken if I moved up. Otherwise, I'd have taken, in order, from these three at 8: Nylander, Juolevi, Tkachuk. That may be ass-backwards for many teams board, but how I slotted them for Buffalo. Needless to say, I'm delighted to get Nylander.

In the real world, I will not be surprised if GMTM finds a way to draft Chickren. (That's how it's pronounced.)

Shrewd moves are going to be necessary early in this draft in my opinion. It's the only way a team is going to be able to trade up early.

Im sitting at 16 with the Red Wings. What I would have to do to trade up from there is frightening.

Two trades that kinda happened with Canes at same time and were essentially merged.

 

Buffalo has 2/8, four 3rds, prospects and players, and cap space (i.e., bad contract extraction) available to move back into the first. Ideally, I'd like to get into the #15-22 range.

 

I'm here if anyone needs anything. Colorado said he'd be around his time since he's at work but he might check in earlier.

 

I like Juolevi as the #1 D in this draft. Not as though Ive seen that much of any of these guys but I like what he brings to the table the most. Tkachuk would be a huge score for Buffalo but I think Edmonton is going got grab him at 4. Nylander would obviously help too.

 

I think that any of the three D already taken in this mock could go in any order 1, 2, 3.
For BUF I still like Chychrun best.
I also like Tkachuk a lot too (duh!), but I covet Alex's speed. And, I think he could add a nice twist to what could be an intensified rivalry between the Leafs & Sabres.

Add the likelihood of an expansion draft in a year, and the possibility of a flat (to down) cap, I think this could be one of the most interesting drafts in years. And, one of the most difficult to project.

Big, athletic forwards that can stick handle are tough to come by.

 

If I didn't really like Jost and if Strome wasn't drafted last year it would have been really tempting. Already was. Wasn't originally intending to trade back up but Colorado accepted my last moment whim when they checked in.
