Not sure if it's a blessing or a curse. They were on the BCHL before it was kewl and all about the midwest US players on the national team radar. It's early yet but there hasn't been much return on investment yet. Couple lotto tickets without a contract laying around for Chicago in those parts.

For what it's worth skinny, I thought it was a very sneaky good pick. I liked PHI's draft better than most.

for one the ruskie is a center the flyers don't need. even if he switches to wing - he doesn't seem to be a big-time scorer, which they need. bellows and the beast gauthier have a nose for the puck, which they need. the way holmstall sat there all calm - he didn't seem interested in gauthier even bf carolina picked him.

gauthier at 6'3 230 seems like a beast the flyers need! a power-forward to not be pushed around, fight off defenders and score! the stiffs they got are all undersized and i wanted speed, size and strength! he has it.

this ruskie isn't pavel bure or even pavel datsyuk. he's a undersized center who happens to be linked to a doping case. BAD NEWS! And if was so great - why wasn't he taken earlier?

matty-for a friday night, people were online in droves and the moment it was announced hit the media, blogs, chatrooms and fb to voice their disapproval!

people in philly loved the ben simmons pick of the sixers and hated their other 2 as they may never play in the NBA. the flyers picked and the a large majority of people were really pissed off.

 

fair enough. i do hope in 3 yrs a lot of the young kids on def, their 1 goalie and konecty are up playing.
