Probably can if you want my honest opinion...although 49ers may trade up to San Diego if that happens to get their California Kid... So MY first choice, yes...

Ok, so... Edge rusher in free agency Oline in free agency #2 Goff/Wentz #32 Fuller #65 Miller Done, sign me up
Not a big of a need as some people would make it out to be. The previous regime (which included Sashi Brown) was high enough on Michael Bowie to leave a spot on the roster for him while he recovered from injury. He should get first crack at replacing Schwartz (who didn't have a complete season until the age of 26 and entering a contract year). The previous regime (still including Sashi Brown) drafted Cam Erving #19 overall last season. He was asked to study all five line positions (without a position coach) and play two positions (LG and RG) that he'd never played in his career. Maybe stretched the first-year player a bit thin. He should get the first crack at replacing Mack in the middle, his natural position. I think we'll draft a tackle (see my Mock Draft 1.0) but the need isn't as pressing as some might make it out to be.
Agree. (Even though Sashi is STILL a douchebag). As it stands right now, here's your starting O-Line; LT - Joe Thomas LG - Joel Bitonio C - Cam Erving RG - John Greco RT - Alvin Bailey Bitonio and Greco are signed through 2017. Thomas and Erving through 2018. Bailey's contract has not yet been released but I have to assume its for at least two years (probably three). EVERYBODY behind these five (all eight of them) are free agents after the 2016 season and we now know how El Douchebag treats Cleveland Free Agents.
OR...El Douchebag made a statement, that he will offer fair contracts and players will be more apt to sign it...BEFORE they become free agents and we begin retaining players that way. He set a precedent. Farmer also set a precedent, not signing potential free agents prior to their contract year, leaving no incentive for that player to not test free agency. This off season does not define this regime, imho.
What a bad front office. How dare they not let a player and his agent use their contract as leverage against themselves. INCONCEIVABLE! I don't really have any issue with what has been done so far. It looks to me as if they made a plan, and stuck to it. Gipson was wanting too much money and I would have let him walk. Mack wanted out, got a slightly smaller deal to go into a scheme that he thrived in (maybe he's not fitting what Hue wants). Schwartz was offered a fair contract and they didn't want him to use it as leverage. It wasn't a signed quote for lawn service that was good for 30 days or something, it was a multimillion dollar, fair value, contract that he walked away from in a cash grab and got less, albeit to play on a better team. Benjamin had a contract year, despite the fact that he is a playmaker, Hue likes big receivers, and I am also leery when a guys production spikes in a contract year. If I hear one more person say how they lost Bademosi I will drive from Houston to their house and slap them. I will at least wait till after the draft to have a bigger picture than the first week of FA to complain about the FO. The team is not winning this year, so im not going to complain about not investing money into high priced FA. Even if it were on "homegrown" talent, by the time this team is competitive, 3 ish years, you would be close to looking to replace those pieces. Now they can grow, I wouldn't say tank because that implies lack of effort IMO, but almost by design they should be able to accumulate top level talent through the draft and keep them locked up by not being committed to bad contracts and having all this dead money because we had to overpay FA just to come here.
Matt Miller quoting an AFC North scout: http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...tm_campaign=web-des-art-top-16?is_shared=true Interesting, if true - and really seems like it. Matt Miller is well-respected and is quoting only his sources he trusts completely in this article. I'm not very high on Thomas at all. Definitely in play at #32 overall for us.
Pro Football Focus scouting report on Will Fuller. https://www.profootballfocus.com/bl...ff-scouting-report-will-fuller-wr-notre-dame/ #pass
That's a smart position to take, #pass on the guy who managed 1250 yards and 14 TDs against some of the best defenses in the entire country, including the defense from Ohio that has two defensive backs being considered first round picks in this draft...he only managed 113 yards and a TD on them..Including an 81 yarder... That would SUCK to have a guy that drops 12% of his passes, yet several times a year gets over 75% of the field for you on a single catch...
Boston College: 3 receptions, 72 yards, 0 TD [6th pass defense] Clemson: 2 receptions, 37 yards, 0 TD [17th pass defense] Wake Forrest: 3 receptions, 37 yards, 0 TD [32nd pass defense] Temple: 5 receptions, 46 yards, 1 TD [42nd pass defense] 13 receptions, 192 yards (14.8 YPC), 1 TD against an average of 24.25 rated defenses (out of 128).
You conveniently left out a couple of top 50 defenses there... Ohio State: 6 receptions, 113 yards, 1 TD [16th pass defense] Georgia Tech: 6 receptions, 131 yards, 1 TD [35th pass defense] So yes, 6 out of their 13 games in 2015 were against top defenses in the country...And he played rather well against them. He made lessor defenses look silly... And are you saying that 72 yards against the 6th best defense out of 128 FBS schools is poor? He went against, Eli Apple, Vonn Bell, Mackenzie Alexander, Tyvis Powell, T.J. Green, Jayron Kearse, Maurice Canady and D.J White in 2015...ALL in consideration for first through 4th round draft selection in April.
Compared to 6 receptions for 104 yards and a TD or 8 receptions for 101 yards and a TD, which his teammates were able to post against them? Yes. And that's all well and good. For me, I'd prefer not to draft a one-trick horse who struggles with drops. I'd like sure hands because once you hit the NFL, the speed gap definitely tightens.
Despite this "write up" on him..Fuller isn't a one trick pony. He isn't a 5'8"-10" speedster that can only run up field. He wasn't asked to go across the middle very often, but he ran a lot of outs for first downs. He isn't a slot receiver, pretty simple. Last time I looked though, we need more than just a slot receiver. Playing in the Z, Will Fuller is one of the best blocking WRs in this draft class..only one I put higher is Laquon Treadwell. Wouldn't it be nice to have a full contrast of receivers on this squad? 6'3" Josh Gordon X, backup 6'4" Terrelle Pryor #32 6'0" Will Fuller Z, backup +KR 5'8" Taylor Gabriel #65 5'10" Sterling Shepard Y, backup 5'7" Andrew Hawkins OR...if Michael Thomas somehow drops to #65 take him to work behind Josh Gordon and decide whether Pryor can play...Thomas could actually play either X or Z, backing up Gordon and Fuller until Gordon is gone by one means or another. I only say that because NFL Network keeps mentioning Thomas being available around our 3rd round pick...not sure that he has dropped that much in reality, but they actually mocked him to Cleveland at #65 last night.
I know someone who might disagree with that... I'd settle for a few competent ones, honestly. Wide receiver might be our weakest position on the roster. Certainly with the questionmarks around Josh Gordon is it. None of those players match what the new regime is looking for in a prospect. Not hard to picture them going for that "prototypical" wide receiver in the mold of a Josh Gordon... 6'3" 220 pounds. Michael Thomas actually perfectly fits Sashi's description of what the team is "missing". I am really surprised to hear that. Laquon Treadwell has not done anything to convince people he's not too slow to play at the NFL level, so his arrow is definitely pointing down. Corey Coleman is probably the first receiver off the board now with Treadwell and Josh Doctson not far behind. If it's true that Thomas is the top receiver on both the Browns' and Bengals' board, then either the Browns and Bengals don't think much of the WR class, or he stands a chance to be gone at #24 overall.
So, going from 5'7", 5'8" and 5' 10" starters a year ago to Will Fuller 6'0" 3.32 40, wouldn't be going bigger and faster? I included Thomas...I agree they need a bigger body as well, unless they think Terrelle Pryor is a project worth utilizing...he is the prototypical size and speed they are also looking for. Except have the absolute best tape of any wide receiver in this draft...of course.. He isn't the only receiver in the NFL lacking world class speed. He plays like Brandon Marshall, who also ran a 4.63..he sucks in the NFL.. Dez Bryant ran a 4.52 and 4.68... Do I need to keep going? IF someone other than Treadwell is the first off the board it will be Will Fuller, NOT Corey Coleman..Coleman may be the 4th or 5th receiver taken.. I will be shocked if it isn't Treadwell, Doctson and Fuller, first 3..not sure of the order. You know better than to believe reports on teams warboards this time of year Sam...
