So now you are going to argue Wentz has some physical attrition to the weather? Is it because he is taller and the air is thinner up there?

    Nicely done...

Embellish much? You agreed there wasn't a QB worthy of first round status and now you are describing Goff lime that? I think you may have fallen over the edge SAS...

  4. Wentz will see things he NEVER saw in college....team speed w tremendous athletes all over the field....they may not have great defenses but u can bet UCLA, USC, Oreg etc have WAY more athletes flying around than Montana, Weber St, W Illinois etc

    Thank you.

And actually, I'm just turning your argument about Goff in inclement weather on its ear. The fact is, neither Goff nor Wentz played in inclement conditions routinely.

You're knocking Goff because he has small hands, but I posted a link showing a very clear lack of correlation between hand size and passing success.

You're taking it one step further saying that Goff will struggle in bad weather but giving Wentz a pass, despite the fact that he threw more interceptions and fumbled more while playing in a dome.

Master of the obvious...What are you saying that every fan over the age of 10 doesn't already know? list some opponents of these schools while you're at it....

    Alcorn State......(Steve McNair...1st rd pick....3rd overall)
    Delaware.........(Joe Flacco.....1st rd pick.)

It's not unprecedented.....Somebody took a chance on these guys. Wentz looks like he belongs in the conversation of top 10 overall picks...That's the word all the "experts" are leaking out there...Pointing to the level of competition he faced at North Dakota St. as compared to the level of competition faced by Goff at Cal, is an obvious given in the evaluation process....My son (age 10) mentioned it during the combine telecast...

Fact: ALL quarterbacks coming out of college will see things they never saw before.

You must have me confused. Goff has been my top guy all along and I believe I said...

    And...

    Prior to that, I said...

And, did you happen to look at Goff's record against those 3 teams stopper? Hell add in Stanford, Arizona and Washington...

    2013 0-6
    2014 0-6
2015 1-4, beat the 7-6 Washington Huskies, didn't play Arizona

So taking your top teams from the Pac-12 AND adding in 3 more, in his 3 seasons he was 1-16 against what you are calling the actual good talent teams from the Pac-12...

How exactly does this help his argument?

Enough with the argument for Goff and his standard of competition...Tell him to step up in the face of competition and he has failed...The top QBs make all of those around him better, isn't that what they say? His leadership led them to a whole lot of losses at Cal.

Again I say...Is there actually a QB at #2 that in reality SHOULD be taken?

I think we have all spent a lot of time and energy on picking a QB at #2 and we should probably be trying to justify a reason not to take one at all...Otherwise we very well could be saying.. "Same old Browns" in 2 years time, while someone like Bosa, Tunsil, Buckner...or even Myles Jack...Players that may actually make a difference on the team.

    To be honest, Irish, I can see your point here. But consider this;

At this moment in time, we currently have

o Josh McCown (signed only through 2016).
o Austin Davis (signed only through 2016).
o Conner Shaw (signed only through 2016).

and, maybe (because I can't confirm it)

    o Pat Devlin

Assuming Johnny actually does get released tomorrow, every confirmed quarterback on the roster will be gone after the 2016 season. Before you say it . . . that doesn't necessarily mandate a QB at #2, but if you are going to draft one - why not draft the best one you can?

I personally don't give a shit if its Goff or Wentz. Both COULD be just fine . . . both COULD be crap. But doesn't the organization owe it to themselves, the rest of the players and the fan base to at least try and get the best one they can?

  11. Right so if ur 10 yr old knows it Wentz shouldn't even b considered w #2 pick...give me the guy who produces vs teams w elite recruits over a period of time than vs guys who compare on the same level

  12. I wasn't arguing 4 Goff as much as I'm arguing against Wentz...he may b 1-16 but at least we know he faced stiff competition...Wentz beating W Illinois and throwing 4 over 400 yds isn't the same as Goff playing Stanford and throwing 4 over 300 yds but losing

    (11) UCLA: 10 - 37 (-27)
    USC: 28 - 62 (-34)
    (2) Oregon: 16 - 55 (-39)

    UCLA: 34 - 36 (-2)
    USC: 30 - 38 (-8)
    (6) Oregon: 41 - 59 (-18)

    UCLA: 24 - 40 (-16)
    USC: 24 - 27 (-3)
    Oregon: 28 - 44 (-16)

Total: -163 (18 PPG)... that's Cal's defense. Goff can make the players on offense better, but he can't do squat about the defense that gave up 44.2 PPG in these contests.

How about looking at it this way... Southern Cal will have more players drafted in the first three rounds than the entire FCS had invited to the Combine.

That's a legitimate question. However, it's also an extremely unique situation (being in a position to take the best QB in the Draft).

And given the QB drought we've had here, it's probably worth taking a shot on someone who may be the #6 ranked player because of what that position means to the state of an NFL franchise.

This also ignores the fact that Cal was a declining program under the previous head coach, going 15-22 in the three seasons before Goff with only one bowl game (a loss).

When Sonny Dykes took over, Cal also implemented stricter enrollment standards (second only to Stanford in the PAC-10), so if you're the 4.0 engineering student who wants to play football in California, your choice was the established and always successful Stanford, or the rebuilding Cal. Hmm... tough choice.

Contrast that to North Dakota State who had won three consecutive FCS titles before Wentz took over. And again, who's entire division had only four Combine invites.

Absolutely, if they can find one that checks all the boxes. If there is a doubt in their minds, then no, it isn't worth the price of a player rated higher, just because he doesn't throw the ball for a living...

I am extremely positive Cardale Jones will be there at #32, what I'm not sure of is that another player at another position will be that can change this team.

He used the analogy of wanting a Bentley at #2 and none of the QB's being said Bentley and was told that the gulf between these three QBs and Winston/Mariota was "Grand Canyon".

    Yikes.

Jack > Goff. Make the Bruin #2.

  18. I don't think any QB is worth the #2 pick in this draft. I think the Kaepernick talk is to use the Browns for leverage on another team. I would rather have him for the base of 12m than any QB coming out.

  19. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

So... most of the speculation is that Robert Griffin III will be a Cleveland Brown by week's end. The question after that is why so many people in the media still think they'd draft a QB at No. 2 overall.

Could be that we've seen both the most comprehensive nit-picking of a player in draft history combined with the most over-hyping of an NFL prospect in draft history.

Goff is a Top 5 talent (as I've been saying for a while) and Wentz is a 32 - 65 talent, period.

The reason the Browns take a QB early is because there's only really one to take.
