So they took the extra step and just went ahead and made sure they get their guy.. Get #2 [3,000] Give up #15 (First) [1,050] #43 (Second) [470] #45 (Second) [450] #76 (Third) [210] 2017 First [580] 2017 Third [104] Total haul would equal = 2864 pts... (EDIT The report I saw didn't include a 4th and 6th being a part of the deal, going to the Rams... Rams get: #1 [3000] #113 [68] #177 [20.2] Total = 3088.2 Adding those two picks, while small value, does help ease the burden of giving up so many picks...they need to use them wisely.
He might be, OR if they evaluated correctly, they will be vying for a Super Bowl and he will get a huge bonus... But I agree, only one of those two paths exist...
Tennessee will dominate that weak division after this trade and b in the playoffs 3 out of the next 5 yrs...they already have their QB so now they build around him
Stopper, weren't you on record saying the Rams would NEVER do a trade like that?....I believe you used the word "rape" when assessing a lesser trade scenario with Cleveland...just sayin.
Gonna side with stopper, here. As he said, if they made that trade, the fans should be fuming. Los Angeles just got fleeced by Tennessee. Tennessee now holds six picks in the Top 75. That's insane. Titans should be on a fast-track to the postseason in the weakest NFL division and with that much ammunition in a draft loaded with really good talent in the 25 - 75 range. On the other side of things, if I'm a Rams fan, I just burned my jerseys.
Sure wish that was the Browns *SORRY* Imagine how they could load/reload if the Browns had that many picks with that much talent available. I'd like to see how the resident goat feels about the trade Hope you're still alive and kickin' goat *HI* ... How do you feel about this trade? I suppose we'll see how the Rams do after all this. Given the trade down and no real success given the fleecing of WAS for RGIII. (at this point a good trade for LA) At this point I believe that Rams needed to make this move. At #2 I'm not sure which direction the Browns will go. They could trade down, stay put, or take the player that they covet. We'll know in a week or so...
Here's the thing... The Rams were the #17 team in the NFL without a competent QB... The Titans were the #32 team in the NFL, with what I am assuming you believe to be a competent QB after this post.... We all know the unknown of what the NFL draft brings to a NFL roster... What is left at the end of this is in reality, the #17 team, with a chance to possibly get a competent QB and the #32 team, with some extra chips to throw onto the NFL Draft roulette wheel. This trade is no indication of how to predict the next 5 years of the NFL.. As for the Titans "weak" division, they finished 4th out of a year when the divisions best QB was hurt for 80% of the games played, and didn't play at all in the final 9 games...unless you are on the side of thinking Andrew Luck isn't a worthy NFL starting QB... The Texans...who also don't have a worthy starting QB won the division with what equates to a really good defense. They also have some really good offensive players in place, but alas...not a QB in sight, unless of course you believe in Brock Osweiler...oh wait...he played pretty well last year in relief of Manning...So... OK, what was the argument for the Titans becoming the class of this division again? Oh, yeah...because they made a draft trade with the Rams...almost forgot. Man...I'm feeling a little fiery today...I should probably stay offline for awhile...
Yes I did and after the trade I said the GM will b fired in 2-3 yrs cause they will have little parts 2 build around their QB cause they have no high picks 2 accumulate talent
I do like Luck a lot but their not a great team...Texans, Jax and Tenn are pretty equal w all teams having an advantage in certain areas...Tenn will vault right into discussion w these draft picks and I also stated in a 5 yr window they will dominate and make the playoffs 3 times...so it may not happen next yr but they will not b #32 unless Mariota is out over 10 games
Fair enough, and I agree, I think the Titans helped themselves out immensely with this trade...even a squirrel finds a nut, and with as many chances they have in the next two drafts...they would almost have to be what ever the exact opposite of intelligent is in order to not find at least a couple of players that will help them improve...I am also one of the few that likes Mariota and think he can improve into a starting NFL caliber QB. I just don't see the Rams doing a nose dive based on this trade. It is a big leap, but if you believe one of these guys are the real thing, I think now is the best time for them to take that chance. They are ready for a QB to put them over the hump. If they wait, or decide to put their faith in a lessor QB, then that is doing a disservice to their organization. I applaud them IF AND ONLY IF they believe 100% in one of these QBs.
Agree if they like a QB go 100% all in but the consensus feeling is neither of these guys are can't miss and that's why I'm against the move
They already have talent, a really nice collection of young players. If they can get Greg Robinson on the right track and find another receiver or two in post-draft free agency they could be a scary team with that running game. The defense is pretty loaded.
Part of their success will still depend on hitting those draft picks they just picked up. Just because they've got a ton of resources doesn't mean it will work out. Same point I was making in the DPL thread regarding trade-downs. The Rams were on the opposite side of this with the RG3 deal and added what? Are any of those picks game-breaking players? No. Think about Cleveland/Atlanta in 2011. We gave the Falcons the best WR in the NFL and we got: 2011-1: Phil Taylor - out of the NFL (we traded 70 overall to move up from the Falcons spot, which Kansas City used to select Justin Houston) 2011-2: Greg Little - out of the NFL 2011-4: Owen Marecic - out of the NFL 2012-1: Brandon Weeden - on his third NFL team; colossal bust 2012-4: voided to trade up with Minnesota that year to pick Trent Richardson - currently a free agent; colossal bust If you don't nail the picks in the trade down, it's worse than trading up.
Not that it matters or effects your post in the least SAS...but Phil Taylor signed with the Denver Broncos...so he isn't out of the NFL...yet....it is only a 1 year $760K deal...so that may not be the case when they start making roster cuts.
crex, well the Goat is still alive and kicking, just got off the shitter seeing this thing came about in a can. OK, I will tell you what my fellow Rams fans are saying first, what media says (although you all know it already) and what I think (which doesn't matter). First my brothers are pissed first and foremost. They mostly think that the Rams should have stayed at 15 and tried their 3rd rounder last year (Mannion) out first. Now that they have made the trade, on the site I do work with, they are split 8-8 on a pole Wentz versus Goff. This is about where the media is on which QB is a better fit for the Rams. I just think it is crap that the Browns QB choise was taken, whoever that was. This is what I think happened. First the new home back in LA figured first. A shinny new penny for the trip home for the fans (new and old- ones that stayed with them through the years in St Louis). Second, the 49ers with a boat load of picks and Kap probably moving looked to move up from #7 and the Rams were going to be stuck with Case or Foles while the 49ers retooled. Third, The Rams although young have a decent defense and spent the 2015 draft completely rebuilding the O-line (no receivers but have Gurley to lean on). Fourth, Fisher and Snead are on the final year of their contract and it is a little for borrow some time but also make a splash and hopefully get the right guy. Finally, the Rams were not going to catch the Seahawks and Cardinals with any QB on the roster and without going 3-13 or 4-12 (and their better than that at this point) it would take a boat load to get a QB anyway. I didn't want this but they did it. If their going to pick a guy, I would go Wentz because of upside long term. Pro system, bigger, better runner and a winner be it only D2. I would hope they trade Foles for a box of tissue because 4 QBs is too much. Now my Browns side says (don't like the RGIII value going to far), call the Browns and just ask them who they want and whoever that is switch spots for a 2nd or 3rd whatever the value is and draft the other guy. Both teams are in the same boat, need a QB, Rams might be a little better in personnel because of the original RGIII trade with the Redskins but still in need of a QB.
