2016 NFL Draft - The Mock

If anything, the Browns would be the team getting criticized for this move, but thanks for letting us know that it won't happen....I've only mentioned about 100 times that I don't think the Browns will find a trade partner.... *THUMBSUP*

    Agreed.

And I'd take Ramsey over Polamalu 25/8. Beyond just raw skills, Ramsey has shown the ability to play without flagrant pass interference or personal foul calls.

    By what standard?

What would your comparison be that this would be a terrible deal, if the Rams wanted to move up to #2 for one of these QBs?

The only concrete example we have, has more than one first round pick, and movement from #6, not #15 overall...and happened to involve the Rams as well.

In that case, the Rams received (2012)#6, #39 (2013) First round (#22), (2014) First round (#2)

So 4 picks, 3 first rounders and a 2nd rounder to move from #2 to #6...
    Give up
    #2
    Get
    #6 (First)
    #39 (Second)
    2013 First
    2014 First

This particular trade also involves 4 picks
    Get
    #2
    Give up
    #15 (First)
    #43 (Second)
    #45 (Second)
    2017 First

And again, I agree the Rams BY FAR got the best of that first trade, however, it was for the movement of 4 spots total, not 13...and involved (3) Firsts and (1) Second...instead of now involving (2) Firsts and (2) Seconds...

The compensation is lower, and the movement is MUCH higher.

btw; I'm not saying the Browns would be criticized over perceived value on the trade....I'm saying they would be criticized because they are the Browns, and they haven't even taken a shot at a QB in the top 5 since Tim Couch.....Nobody believes in Robert Griffin. If the Browns move out of #2, right or wrong, the critics will be out in droves...

  5. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Yeah, when the Browns took Justin Gilbert, it was also thought he could play corner or safety, doesn't mean I would ever compare him to Charles Woodson.

Looking at college tape of Ramsey and Woodson, the players I see are not the same level...that is what I meant...and neither did you not too long ago...

What changed between then and now?

    This is true!!

But, I am in the boat that doesn't have a total belief in any QB being a sure thing. There are a lot of QBs with potential, but I don't have total faith in any of them. If the Browns think that Goff or Wentz are that guy...then by all means, I will be on board, they get paid a lot more money to be smarter than I am.

  7. TopDawg Legend

    Agreed..

The critics are going to be all over Cleveland regardless of which way they go...They just gonna have to devise a plan, stay focused and true to it, and block out the noise that doesn't matter....If Paul and Sashi are as smart as advertised, maybe this regime finally sticks. Identifying a real franchise QB would be a good start....Maybe they already have.

  8. Nothing I wuldnt take him at #2

OK, just heard a "rumor" on ESPNCleveland 850AM from some obscure website that the Browns are talking about a 3 team trade...Again, this is some obscure website, I have never heard of reporting this and AM 850 repeating it on the radio..

    Broncos would receive Tyrod Taylor
Bills would receive the #2 overall pick
Browns would receive #19 overall, #31 overall, #49 overall, a 2017 Bills 3rd round draft pick and an undisclosed Broncos player.

Now, in this scenario, I don't know how or why the Bills would receive a first round draft pick and player for Tyrod Taylor...That to me is the biggest farce of this deal.

I don't really know that this is enough compensation for the Browns either, but I would say that the Bills would be making out pretty well here...IF they feel Goff or Wentz are future franchise players.

Only basically giving up a mid first, a second, a future third and the player they are supposedly replacing to move up 17 spots...

What do you all think of this trade proposal?

(edit) This would give the Browns for all intents and purposes 3 first round picks since their 2nd rounder is #32, and 4 of the top 50 players in the draft...

So, 3 team trade edited Mock Draft, first 3 rounds:

#19 Laquon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss
#31 Will Fuller, WR Notre Dame
    #32 Taylor Decker OT, tOSU
#49 Jaylon Smith LB, Notre Dame
    #65 Keanu Neal S, Florida

    From Peter King's recent article:

Giving up 2,970 for only 2,600?

For a guy most talent evaluators are not going to put on par with Robert Griffin III?

Seems like a heavy swing in the Browns' favor and we all know our luck isn't that good.

  11. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

I think it's fairly out there, since three-team trades don't seem to happen all that much. It's also a pretty significant risk by the Bills to give up a guy who their head coach has craved and who showed to be a possible franchise-type QB... for two guys who most evaluators are split on the better of anyhow.

From the Broncos side, it seems odd that they'd make a splashy move for a franchise QB when all they need is a game manager, and could do that on the cheap (since Tyrod is going to score a huge contract in all this and the Broncos are already tight on cap space).

Also, the Broncos only have to give up #31 overall for a potential franchise QB? Sign me up! Unless the "undisclosed player" is Von Miller, I'm out. And even if it is Von Miller, he'll probably be lobbying the Browns F/O to give Manziel another shot.

From the Browns' standpoint, they'd better get an elite player from Denver and be certain that they want none of the top defensive talent and want nothing to do with a QB who could potentially start in the next two - three seasons. Everyone after Goff and Wentz is going to need to be either completely built up, or completely re-built before they see an NFL field.

If the Browns move down, it has to be to target a guy like Connor Cook who (excuse me, I just vomitted blood), who doesn't exactly exude the entire "face of the franchise", "guy we can rally around", "consummate leader" that Hue Jackson and the F/O wants to trot out there.

Future picks are devalued by a round SAS...so that 2017 first, if given the #33 pick...Would only be valued at 580

    so it is really:
    Get
    #2 [2,600]
    Give up
    #15 (First) [1,050]
    #43 (Second) [470]
    #45 (Second) [450]
    2017 First [580]

    Giving up 2550 for 2600

It has ALWAYS been a round devalue, in the past it was devalued based on the current slotting, but in this case I rounded up to the highest pick in that round.

  13. Its not happening...no chance the Rams are that dumb 2 make that trade....so they get a QB and dont pick again for a LONG time and then they have no #1 for that QB next yr...sounds great if ur a Browns fan but Rams fan shuld b fuming

  14. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

The Rams used the spring board of the Redskins trade to build an actual team stopper...that's what is driving all of this talk. They need a QB to complete the transition, they are ready for that step. They can afford to miss a couple of picks because they have done a nice job drafting...

That isn't all their picks, just the ones generated from the RGIII trade..

If they identify their QB, then going all in at this point is the right thing to do.

The Browns on the other hand are no where near ready to throw that QB in and be playoff ready. They need the extra picks to build the base of a team like the Rams have...

  15. The Rams are not just a QB away...their WRs are below avg, DBs must b weak if their looking at Whitner and in a tough division...I just can't see that trade happening in a million yrs

I don't know what you all think, but there is no such thing as a perfect roster. I realize that is what everyone expects the Browns to do, but there isn't one in existence in the NFL...

    As for the Rams roster:
CB: Trumaine Johnson, Lamarcus Joiner and Coty Sensabaugh is s pretty good base, add in E.J. Gaines and Marcus Roberson being groomed, could be better.
S: Mark Barron (Prize free agent), T.J. McDonald, Maurice Alexander

Nice base for their defensive backfield, not perfect, but I think I've already covered the reality that there is no perfect in the NFL.

They could certainly use another WR...

But, I am pretty sure they are hoping 2nd year #8 overall pick Tavon Austin is ready for the next tier of his career..

They can certainly add a salary cap casualty or free agent this year, Percy Harvin and Anquon Boldin are both available and have stated they are ready to play.

Find a nice 3rd round prospect in the draft and another 2nd rounder next year.

They aren't dilute of WRs, they signed Kenny Britt to a 3 year deal in 2014..So that makes, (2) First Round WRs already on the roster. They may be ready to try another avenue for acquiring WRs other than looking solely at first round prospects.

They have one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, have some good pieces on the offensive line...they are ready to make a move...what they need is a QB, sitting at #15 won't make that happen.

(edit) They have a perfect set up already, btw, they are stuck with Nick Foles for one more season, so the QB they draft can sit for the first half of the season to be groomed, they also have Case Keenam sitting there eating up cap space to the tune of $3.635M...drafting a QB to replace him would be ideal, as he would pay a good chunk of the new rookies contract, which will most likely cost around $4.8M this year...Not having a 2nd round draft pick will pay the rest of that salary...Which will allow the rest of your cap space to pay the rest of your draft class without needing to make any other roster moves.

That's simply not true. Most assume a 1,000 point value for a future first, given that it is the median value of the first round picks.

Many teams value future first round picks at the same level of current first round picks.

In either case, it's 1,050 or 1,000. I don't know where you're getting your information, but it's inaccurate.

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

It's common knowledge, it was ALWAYS that way when the trade value chart was in use.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

    Are you sure???

I think they might have done it if they were assured no one would trade ahead of them to #1...so...I guess the answer is to offer even MORE to take that extra step.
