If taken in a reasonable spot, I don't think any of the draftable QB prospects going to Cleveland would shock me......It would shock me if they didn't take one....
Im thinking if Dallas doesnt take Bosa, he will b there at #8...u guys know I dont like the fit, but I wuld assume people wuld b pissed if they passed on him
Here is my final wishlist Mock Draft...Not neccesarily what I think will happen, but what I wish would happen this long weekend...I have suddenly gotten very excited, I took Friday off, because I have a feeling I am going to be up late on Thursday night pondering what could have been. I think I might be a little too invested in the Browns....nah..... Current cascade of draft picks: 1) rd1-8, #8 overall (acquired from Philly) 2) rd2-1, #32 overall 3) rd3-2, #65 overall 4) rd3-14, #77 overall (acquired from Philly) 5) rd4-1, #99 overall 6) rd4-2, #100 overall (acquired from Philly) 7) rd4-40, #138 overall (compensatory) 8) rd5-2, #141 overall 9) rd5-33, #172 overall (compensatory) 10) rd5-34, #173 overall (compensatory) 11) rd6-1, #176 overall 12) rd7-2, #223 overall I would LOVE to see a lot of movement, Thursday to set up the rest of the draft: Laremy Tunsil drop to #8 Trade rd1-8, #8 overall and rd5-2, #141 overall to the Tennessee Titans for rd1-15, #15 overall and rd2-14, #45 overall THEN, trade rd2-1, #32 overall and rd3-14, #77 overall to the Washington Redskins for #20 overall 1) rd1-15, #15 overall (acquired from Titans) Laquon Treadwell WR Ole Miss 2) rd1-20, #20 overall (acquired from Redskins) Will Fuller WR Notre Dame 3) rd2-14, #45 overall Keanu Neal S Florida 4) rd3-2, #65 overall T.J. @Irish I have a hard time with Tunsil dropping to #8. I think the trade target is Ezekiel Elliott, hence the newly found interest in him from the Browns. Browns would trade down and take Laquon Treadwell.
How about... #1 - Los Angeles Rams: Jared Goff #2 - Philadelphia Eagles: Carson Wentz #3 - San Diego Chargers: DeForest Buckner #4 - Dallas Cowboys: Jalen Ramsey #5 - Jacksonville Jaguars: Joey Bosa #6 - Baltimore Ravens: Laremy Tunsil #7 - San Francisco 49ers: Paxton Lynch #8 - Cleveland Browns: ... ? I have to think that Paxton Lynch is very much in play for San Francisco and if people thought San Francisco was going to try and trade up to get Goff or Wentz, why wouldn't they stand pat and take a guy like Lynch? Prior to the end of the season, Lynch and Goff were the two QB's being talked about as the top guys. In this scenario, Myles Jack also drops due to some injury concerns. Browns would be wise to trade out in this situation for a team like Oakland to jump up and grab Jack, or a team like Miami to move up for Elliott. Then you're moving back a few spots, staying in the Top 15 and selecting a player like Laquon Treadwell and picking up the future picks or mid-round picks in 2016 to add more depth to the team.
Or... knowing you're not competing until 2018 or beyond, you take Jack at #8 overall and plant him on the bench until he's 100%. If healthy, he's the best player in this draft.
I could make the same argument for Jaylon Smith, except you are spending a 3rd/4th instead of a top ten.
Most team doctors suspect Jack will be fine, unlike Ekpre-Olomu. A lot of opinions were that he'd never play football again. The thinking is Jack will be back at 100% after proper recovery from his surgery (a mere 7 months ago). I totally get the concern, though, and if the Browns' doctors have even the slightest doubt, I'd pass. I don't want to blow picks on players who're "iffy" in the health department.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...on-smith-could-still-be-a-late-first-rounder/ Some coaches think Smith could still be a first/second round pick. If he's still around at #65, what do the Browns have to lose? They're not going to be vying for a division crown next season. Red shirt him and let's see what happens in 2017.
All right... here it is: #1 - Los Angeles (f/Tennessee): Jared Goff, QB Cal #2 - Philadelphia (f/Cleveland): Carson Wentz, QB NDSU #3 - San Diego: Ronnie Stanley, OT Ole Miss #4 - Dallas: Jalen Ramsey, CB Florida State #5 - Jacksonville: Joey Bosa, DE Ohio State #6 - Baltimore: DeForest Buckner, DE Oregon #7 - San Francisco: Paxton Lynch, QB Memphis #8 - Miami (f/Cleveland, via Philadelphia, via Miami): Ezekiel Elliott, RB Ohio State #9 - Tennessee (f/Tampa Bay): Laremy Tunsil, OT Ole Miss #10 - New York Giants: Jack Conklin, OT Michigan State #11 - Chicago: Vernon Hargreaves, CB Florida #12 - New Orleans: Sheldon Rankins, DT Louisville #13 - Cleveland (f/Miami): Laquon Treadwell, WR Ole Miss #14 - Oakland: Leonard Floyd, OLB Georgia #15 - Tampa Bay (f/Tennessee, via Los Angeles): William Jackson III, CB Houston #16 - Detroit: Shaq Lawson, DE Clemson #17 - Atlanta: Darron Lee, OLB Ohio State #18 - Indianapolis: Ryan Kelly, C Alabama #19 - Buffalo: Kevin Dodd, DE Clemson #20 - New York Jets: Myles Jack, LB UCLA #21 - Washington: Jarran Reed, DT Alabama #22 - Houston: Corey Coleman, WR Baylor #23 - Minnesota: Josh Doctson, WR TCU #24 - Cincinnati: Michael Thomas, WR Ohio State #25 - Pittsburgh: Mackensie Alexander, CB Clemson #26 - Seattle: Taylor Decker, OT Ohio State #27 - Cleveland (f/Green Bay): Cardale Jones, QB Ohio State #28 - Kansas City: Eli Apple, CB Ohio State #29 - Arizona: Reggie Ragland, ILB Alabama #30 - Carolina: Germain Ifedi, OT Texas A&M #31 - Denver: Connor Cook, QB Michigan State
Not in love with the second part of that SAS. Cardale is no 1st rounder no matter how desperate the Browns (and other teams) are to get a QB. I've got a feeling the analytics guys are going BPA and "the needs be damned." And Cardale is nowhere near BPA even late in the 2nd round or early 3rd. I do have a feeling you may be right with the Miami trade and taking a WR. I'll give that half of your scenario 'two thumbs up.'
I agree. While I do like Cardale, I can't see him getting taken anywhere near the first round. I do think that the early trade will happen, whether its with Miami at #13 or Tennessee at #15. I am not sure about WR at that pick. I do think they should build the O-line back up depending on what is there.
So we started this process with team needs (in no particular order): QB RGIII, Cody Kessler WR Corey Coleman TE RB RT Shon Coleman RG DE Carl Nassib OLB Emmanuel Ogbah CB S K I know you don't like Ogbah Stopper, but I think he is one of the best pure pass rushers in this draft. We were devoid of pass rusher, now we have added two...Nassib at the moment is a hybrid DE imho...I don't think he brings much to the table for the running game, but I think he can be invaluable on passing downs. NOW...on the third day, I want to take the best players available... Personally, with picks 99 and 100, I would jump out of the gate and take NT Andrew Billings (borderline first round talent), then I would jump on a RB as there are several left that I didn't think would still be available..Use those analytics and find us the best one of the bunch....OR, lol, I know I know...but if we could move down about 4-10 spots and get a 4th rounder next year in the process, I would move down...there is still a lot of talent left in this draft and I don't have a specific prospect after Billings, rather about 10 that are similarly rated.
