I agree on the value, just two things...I am not nearly as high on Su'a-Filo as I am Lee and Matthews...I am actually higher on Bitonio than Su'a-Filo...I am also higher on Borland than any of these guards...

I simply can't pass the "value" of Marquise Lee at #35...

That aside, Offensive line is the Skins biggest need by a large amount and I expect Su'a-Filo to go one spot before us.

I would be fine with either Lee or Borland here though, I'm not married to WR, just the "value" that comes with it.

Then come back at #71 and get an ILB, the guards will be gone by then...

I don't think our line is in as dire need as you do though Lym, I DO think ILB is our current biggest need after the first round.

Looks good to me, make it happen Lym!!

You left out Ryan Lindy, John Skelton and Kevin Kolb.

Yep . . . a career backup to Tom Brady, [briefly] Ben Roethlisberger and the combination of Ryan Lindy, John Skelton and Kevin Kolb for 14 days.

    Better? :|

I didn't see any of Hoyer in preseason and even the regular season but how can you not like a guy who goes 3-0 in three starts, including a win over the eventual division winner, all while throwing more TDs to INTs? They went 0-2 before and after him

For me personally, it has NOTHING to do with not liking Hoyer, I love the guy. But, when he went down, we were left with absolutely nothing. It was time to start looking at the 2014 draft...I don't ever want to be in that position again.

I won't even be disappointed if Hoyer beats out Manziel. As long as they put the best guy on the field, I will be ecstatic. I want wins, I don't care who is producing them. But if something happens that top guy can't go? I want a guy to step in and not miss a beat. I think that is what we just drafted.

If Hoyer comes in and lights this league on fire and stays healthy, pay the man and be thankful Manziel is his backup. If he is simply an adequate QB that doesn't lose games and Manziel outplays him in practice, well so be it, get Hoyer in there to start the season and let Manziel take over after the week 4 bye.

I'll base it on that simple test...I hope Hoyer is the day one starter, but if we are 0-3 going into the bye, it will be time to see what the rookie can do.

I fully expect this defense to keep us in any game, so it most likely comes down to the QB position, on how this team does in 2014/15...

Bring it on, I am ready for relevance in Cleveland!!

I want a guard. Su'a-Filo or Yankey would be great selections. I would not be upset with Lee or Robinson though. Just feel the need at guard outweighs WR.

Irish already covered my feelings pretty well with his own post, but...

Again, it has nothing to do with not liking Hoyer. I just happen to like Manziel more (loads more). For too long, too many people around here (and Browns fans in general) like to fall in love with the "long-shots" and the "local kids" and the warm-and-fuzzy stories and overlook the critical part: they just don't measure up.

Hoyer went 3-0, but let's be realistic when we try to give credit for 3 minutes of play in that Buffalo game before he blew his knee out. Not to sound like a broken record, but as showstopper mentioned, the 2-0 was against the second-worst pass defense in the league and he threw 3 INTs. The other win was against a banged up Cincinnati team and many of my friends who are Bengals fans have reminded me since that game that were Hall and Nelson healthy, we probably wouldn't have won.

The bottom line is you simply do not hand the keys to a franchise over to a guy who's never been more than a back-up and who's exposure is 4 starts in 5 years with a career 77.4 QB rating.

I'm also not suggesting here that you hand it over to a rookie QB, either. I think they should and will have a QB competition, but I just don't see a world where the most sensational college QB in history doesn't beat out a guy who couldn't win the job over Brandon Weeden or Jason Campbell.

I really thought the Brian Hoyer / Brandon Weeden debate from last year was over. Guess not. [IMG]

I think you've got a little bit too much of a Man-crush-ziel going on there.

  11. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

    Almost.

I just find it a little dishonest that he was a "backup to Roethlisberger" when Roethlisberger was actually already injured, as was his direct backup, Byron Leftwich -- meaning neither was going to play. He was really the backup to Charlie Batch.

I get it. You love Brian Hoyer. You hate Johnny Cleveland. Fine.

The Browns' F/O decided that they liked Manziel enough to bring him in and have him compete. You typically don't draft quarterbacks in the first round if you're enamored with the guy already holding down the spot -- even if it was by default because they cut everyone else at the position.

For the record SAS, he DID beat out Jason Campbell. He was listed as 3rd on the depth chart to start the season, but when tasked with choosing who would start, the coaching staff chose Hoyer over Campbell..

  13. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

    Guilty as charged.

I also thought people would lose their minds if I said second-most -- with Tim Tebow being #1. :p

  14. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

If he was third, then he didn't beat him out.

It was after that pathetic excuse for quarterbacking that Campbell did in relief duty of Weeden that caused the coaches (with possibly some prodding from Mike Lombardi) to name Hoyer the starter, leap-froggin Campbell.

Actually I just looked at a few articles on Top 10 best college QB's ever and man that was a depressing list. Bleacher Report had Leinart, Tebow, Colt McCoy, Colt Brennan, Graham Harrell, Vince Young, Ken Dorsey, Wuerffel, Tommie Frazier, and Flutie. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for drafting your "greatest college QB in history." But, I'll give him the chance to show me what he's got.

    I have a question to pose;

Would you be open to trading the #35 to the 49ers for #24(56) and #29(61) in the second round?

As noted, we still have holes and could benefit from an extra 2nd rounder at this point and to be honest, as enamored as I am with Marquise Lee, there are anothe dozen players that I am almost as high on. This draft is so deep...

I just wonder if there is that one player that the 9ers would want to move up and get.

  17. crextin Franchise Player Browns

    LOL...

I wouldn't be opposed to that trade. Though I don't know who the 49ers would want to pick up especially since they just aquired Steve Johnson from the bills.

Though I have considered that TEN may want to get ahead of the Raiders to pick a QB. But I'd like the deal from the niners better.

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Now rumors the Cowboys are looking for takers to move up for a defensive lineman...

2nd #15(47) and 3rd #14(78) might be an ACTUAL option today...I would take this deal as well...get that second 3rd rounder back.

By "points" that would be a steal...especially as deep as this draft is. Twelve spots is nothing to sneeze at though. Does need some thought. I certainly wouldn't take anything lower than that from Dallas

  19. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

    I believe I said sensational.

  20. brett11253 Brett Blue Jackets Browns Indians

I'd trade with anyone who would want to move up. As long as we take extra picks. Picks are the best value.
