  1. Dennard was the best DB in this draft....shuld have taken him over Gilbert IMO

Respectfully disagree SS...Both were better than Roby, which is what I expected to come away with..

lol! Eventually, Browns fans will all come together on the QB. We just need a guy that we can count on to win some games. Simple as that really.....It's funny how some have already decided, but anytime you take a player with huge popularity like Manziel, your gonna find folks with opinions...All Johnny has to do is win. Cleveland will love him.

  4. Roby overrated...I think Verrett will b better than him

  5. TopDawg Legend

I had Roby and Verrett rated about even....Would have been happy with either one of them or Kyle Fuller....But coming away with Justin Gilbert makes me ecstatic!!

    Stopper . . .

Why don't you take your punk ass somewhere else and troll.

  7. Hey Lym, u may b an old geeser but I will bet I 4got more football than u wuld ever know u stiff.....just cause I voice my opinion just like u did Im a punk a$$? Guess what u didnt like Manziel and I did, but cause I didnt like the Gilbert pick u think ur king sh^t and just call people out. U shuld b in bed its after 1am when u posted...u need ur rest old man.

  8. Manziel is going to get the Browns some primetime television spots. Fans from every team are going to be paying attention. It's good for Cleveland.

You always always always negative SS....people are sick of hearing it. You couldn't even enjoy an absolute "slam dunk" first round. One that happened to include the guy you wanted most! lol! Were you happy about it? No.. You bitched and moaned about the meaningless later round picks that we used up to position ourselves for the board. lol! It's ridiculous man...That's why we loaded up with all those extra picks in the first place...

You know, I thought with that pick at 22, we would finally get over the SS hump...a little frustrating...

    BUT...HEADACHE AND ALL....

WHOO HOOOO!! It's good to be a Cleveland Browns fan this morning!!!!

  11. Top Dawg, u can say what u want.....all I said was the trade up w Minny was a joke whether it was 5th rounder or 7th rounder....Minny was not taking Gilbert or else they wuld have selected him since they were on the clock....I wasnt a big Gilbert guy thats why I dont consider it a slam dunk like u do....ur right I always wanted Manziel and they got him so that makes up for it.

Great daft by the Browns. I like player rankings and value as much as the next guy but if a team knows they want a player then go get that player if you can.

To pair up Gilbert with Joe Haden and get a QB who could be the missing piece (I actually thought/think Hoyer can be good in Cleveland), not to mention another first next year (Buffalo will struggle to not finish last again). This was a great draft by the Browns.

I will say I'm happy you guys didn't draft Watkins though. I think Hoyer could have dominated throwing to Watkins and Gordon. That said, I'm going to miss the days of Buster Skrine

It wasn't about the Vikings taking Gilbert, it was about who was trading to the Vikings to move ahead of the Browns to take Gilbert. Whether true or not, the Vikings convince them there was someone coming in and gave them a chance to make their own move, in the end a 5th rounder means little to get the guy you want.

What about Manziel throwing to Gordon and:

    Marquise Lee
    or
    Jordan Matthews
    or
    Davante Adams???

Along with throwing into Joe Haden and Justin Gilbert?

In all seriousness though, after taking Gilbert I actually wanted to get Mosely to complete this defense...great pick up there. I was shocked the Steelers didn't take him. That kid belongs in the AFC North, just wish it was in orange with stripes on the helmet.

  15. I know what you mean. But its just like Pitts. & Balt. to take LB's. I think we will get ours in the 3rd. I hope its Borland. But I'm with ya on Lee, Mathews or Adams. Soon we will find out.

Those could all be threats also (surprised Lee fell to the second round, he may be a Brown tonight) but they are still a step down from Gordon/Watkins. That said having Gilbert and ending up with any of those three WRs still makes for a great draft by Cleveland

I'd like to add Donte Moncrief or Allen Robison to that list. This year depth at WR is pretty good.

Irish I could tell you were bummed that JF wasn't the #4 selection ;) and am glad that he wasn't. That said he's a Brown now and I hope he backs up his promise to win SB's for us.

It is a bit scary that Mosley went to BAL and Shazier went to PIT. I think that those selections fit best where they were selected. Both will do their best to torment our beloved Browns for years to some.

I know most of you are hot to trot about going WR with #35 and I can see that logic. Marqise Lee (USC) or Allen Robinson (Penn St) are very tempting.

However, IMHO, we have two other glaring needs that trump the WR2 need. Guard and ILB.

    Available Guards;

o Xavier Su'a-Filo, UCLA. Projected to 1st round
o David Yankey, Stanford, Projected to 1st-2nd round
o Gabe Jackson, Miss State, Projected to 2nd round.

    Available ILB;

o Chris Borland, Wisconsin, Projected to 2nd-3rd round.
o Yawin Smallwood, Connecticut, Projected to 3rd round.
o Shayne Skov, Stanford, Projected to 3rd-4th round.

BPA (at a position of need) would suggest Su'a-Filo at pick #35.

    Comments ???

    Wow.

    • Josh Gordon[/*]
    • Calvin Johnson[/*]
    • Julio Jones[/*]
    • A.J. Green[/*]
    • Demaryius Thomas[/*]
    • Brandon Marshall[/*]

... and Watkins will be better than all of them? That's a bold prediction. I like the confidence, beach, I just don't see it. I don't think Sammy Watkins is the best #2 wide receiver in the NFL in two years.

No one wants to start a rookie QB because it means you don't have an answer at the position yet. I think they want to genuinely have a competition for the spot, but it's going to be incredibly difficult to keep Manziel on the sidelines for long -- especially if Hoyer struggles (and it's a rough start to the season).

Ultimately, it may not be Pettine's call. Who has final say over game-day rosters?

And an even larger chip on his shoulder. The guy is a flat-out competitor who makes everyone around him better. Not only will the team improve once he's starting, but if someone does try to make a name for themselves with a big hit, it'll push the rest of the Browns even more to protect him and make plays for him.

Exactly what has Hoyer done (other than the release of Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell) to earn the starting job?

He's a career backup that went 3-0 as a starter for us last season. He should have opened everyone's eyes to how dismal our QB situation was. Johnny Cleveland is so much better than Hoyer it's insane. If you put that kind of talent in the lineup, I don't know how you keep the Browns out of the Playoffs.
