No the bet was Manziel would be available at #35 and the Browns would pass on him a third time...that one was paid off when they drafted him...

Yep . . . I bet him that Bortles would be drafted before Manziel for a six-pack of long necks. Then it was modified to a twelve pack if Bortles was drafted before BOTH Manziel and Bridgewater.

Irish went down for the count at pick #3.

Okay my bad. I'm legitimately happy for you Irish. You wanted him and you got him and Farmer knew exactly what his value was. Personally I would have taken Watkins but an extra 1st is pretty darn nice. Enjoy this.

Yeah I never saw that bet. I thought I saw a bet with someone else about Bridgewater not being drafted in the first round or something like that.

My other guy is still sitting there too...Marquise Lee would make a nice complement to Gordon..so would Adams...but I think I would really like Borland top shore up that defense..

Man, the Browns are looking up...

    Dansby
    Whitner
    Gilbert
    Manziel

I do believe Johnny will be given every opportunity to learn. I don't think for a second Hoyer will be cast aside, he will be given the opportunity to lead this team in 2014. BUT, I don't think they will be able to sit Johnny in the end...

    You know something, Beach?

I like you and Mano and BB. But the rest of those smug, condescending asswipes on your board can kiss my lily white ass!

  7. If he doesnt play this means nothing....what a joke move to put him on bench when they moved up 2 get him

Don't take it personally Lym. It's the rivalry. Guys in here take shots at the Steelers. I expect it. Farmer did well today. I'm a huge Watkins fan so I would have gone that route but hard to argue with picking up another 1st round pick. That's huge.

OMG give it a rest. The guy is under contract for a minimum of 5 years. It's not the end of the world if he doesn't start Day 1.

Here we go. Our first post-Manziel drafting debate . . .

o Pettine is already on record that he would not start a rookie QB. And he made that comment knowing full well that Manziel
    was targeted in the draft.

o Like it or not, Manziel WILL have a very large target on his ass this year.

o Exactly what has Hoyer done (other than get injured) to lose his starting job?

  11. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

    I do take it personal.

What rivalry? According to those very same asswipes - there is no rivalry with the Browns. The Steelers rivalry is with the Ravens.

You try living with 15 + years of that crap!

We all fell in love with WAtkins, but bottom line is, top notch CB was a much more pressing need than #2 WR....The fact that we got Gilbert, who I just fell in love with at the combine, and still were able to come up with the best QB prospect alone would have been considered a big success. Throw in the addition of Buffalo's #1 next year, and it really makes it a spectacular first round for Cleveland. Nobody thought we'd be able to hold on to #35 if we passed on QB at #4. We not only held on to it, but we added a huge pick to next years arsenal....

I have. I'm an O's fan and have been listening to JackTard Yankees fans for the last 15+ years. It is what it is and it's not changing until the Browns start winning. They are definitely more talented than they've been in a long time. We'll see how good a coach Pettine is.

Makes perfect sense if Gilbert is the stud some believe he will be. Not hating, just stating my preference. I think Sammy Watkins will be the best WR in the NFL in two years. I don't believe you can put those kind of expectations on Gilbert. Only time will tell.

  15. Hoyer is a fn bum thats why.....journeyman QB that stunk at Mich St

  16. Man I wish I knew u personally cause I wuld bet anything u wanted on that statement w Watkins being the best WR in 2 yrs LOL

I put it in Tim's locked thread. I'm not going anywhere.

  18. TopDawg Legend

I know most Browns fans from my generation have to appreciate what 2 lock down corners can do for a defense....I heard a rumor earlier in the day that we were going to do exactly that trade with Buffalo, so we could take Gilbert. lol! Helluva tip but, I didn't believe it. lol! I Never dreamed Manziel would slide that far either. Really didn't.

  19. Watkins wont even b the best WR in this class let alone best WR in 2 yrs

  20. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I heard the same thing, but again, didn't believe it..I was actually a little down after that pick, simply because I wanted Manziel. I am rejuvenated. I wanted Manziel, Lee and Roby...I got a head and shoulders better CB, Manziel, Lee is still on the board for #35 and a 2015 first rounder to boot...This has been a dream sequence of a night. I know most of you don't believe in Manziel, but I think we will all be rejoicing two years from now...
