5 or 6 seasons from now when we look back at this draft...Sanders is gonna be looked at as the most successful QB pick. I don't think he's gonna light the world on fire but I think he will make the most solid NFL QB from this class.
Based on early initial talent or what? Pickett has experience and what else in your opinion? Are you comparing to now or when Pickett was drafted? Personally I like Dart or Will Howard in Cleveland as far as the long road into the future when they go Pickett or Flacco as the starter. I think that will be just fine for now, because its the best option currently available. When it comes to investing into the future, Id like to see a Dart or Howard in Cleveland compared to any other QB, quite frankly.
Thats very interesting. I guess time will tell. I hope im here in 5 or 6 years... I'll eat some crow, as long as its Southern Fried!!!
This was all based solely on when Pickett came out, not present day. Pickett had already failed in this league imho. There are QBs that are lackluster and resurrect their career down the road with another team and others that immediately show they are back up QBs. The latter is Pickett and I fear every QB in this draft class. If they take Pickett or Howard or Sanders or, well anyone, this fanbase will be comparing him to Mayfield, that’s the litmus test. If they don’t perform above his short stay then they are a failure. Haslem will be paying that price with the fans until they find an actual replacement or he sells the team.
This group has hyped Sanders so much leading up to the draft, they have to talk up the others around him in case one or more go in front of him. If you look at true college careers and film, Pickett is ahead of this second tier of QBs in this draft. It just isn’t a good class despite there being several that can become good backup QBs in the league. Pickett was taken way early and if any of these others are taken in the first (probably will be) we will be talking about how that team needs a QB in two years. What sucks is, the team that drafts these qualified backups can’t retain them as backups because they spent a first round pick on them and have to save face. Others in the league look at a failed first round pick and think… I can get the max out of this prospect, let’s get him in camp cheap and it rarely works out. As for the “who” all the QBs are being hyped, the only grade you can go off of are their measurables. Their scouting report grade on NFL.com are as follows.. Pickett 6.4 will become starter within 2 years Sanders 6.3 will eventually be a plus Dart 6.17 good backup with potential to develop into starter Shough 6.16 good backup with potential to develop into starter Ewers 6.15 good backup with potential to develop into starter Milroe 6.14 good backup with potential to develop into starter McCord 6.13 good backup with potential to develop into starter And for the record… Will Howard 5.9 average backup or special teamer
My 7-round mock draft (will have another next week): 2025 NFL Mock Draft: Seven Rounds & Sleeper Landing Spots
I’d be ok with that draft, even though I’m not big on Shough. Hit needs without reaching and got high character guys.
Pickett had one monster season and the four that came before were completely forgettable. Without his second senior season being as big and flukey as it was along with Jordan Addison's off the charts year...he probably goes undrafted.
Pickett was never going undrafted. He was on the NFL radar before that season (certainly not as a first round pick, but still)
Looking back at the scouting reports, they pointed out flaws in Pickett, then in 2021 they pointed out what he corrected in the previous offseason. He looked the part in an otherwise very bad QB class, so he was rewarded with a first round draft pick. I don't see it as much different in 2025, this is a bad QB draft class if you are looking for a franchise QB. There are a lot of Kenny Pickett's available.
Every starting college QB from a big school is on the NFL radar. If his 2020 season with 13 touchdowns and 9 INTs was his final college season....he's a late round pick at best and possibly undrafted in a deeper class. If he had come out after his 2020 season he's in the Trevor Lawrence draft. Sam Ehlinger, I think, was the last QB picked in that draft and that was the sixth round. I doubt anyone in 2020 was putting Pickett ahead of Ehlinger after his 2020 season at Texas.
Pickett is an easy evaluation. Good at some things, great at nothing. And his pocket presence for a guy with his experience is below average. Overdrafted third round prospect.
5.5 days to go. I have to say, when this offseason began I looked back on my draftnik past and realized how out of touch I had gotten without a first day pick in the last 3 drafts. This has reanimated my passion. It’s an extremely interesting year in that there are very few Super Star prospects, but damn, I can see high contributors deep into the 3rd round. It’s going to be fun seeing how the teams see these guys next weekend.
And you were a BIG TIME anti-Pickett guy, I remember.\ Go back a few years, and you gave me shit, like what have you got against this guy, did he steal your lunch money? (don't forget some of us have partial eidetic memories) Referring to the bust Mac SUCK Jones. You can say told you so on Pickett. I can say told you so on Jones. So now my TOLD YOU SO for 2025. Shedeur Sanders. He would have been the 7th QB taken last year. Cam Ward 4th or 5th. And that's a fact Jack. This QB class is the epitome of Mediocrity, slightly better than 2022 because of more options. Every single one of them has glaring flaws. So who is the most fixable, that is your $64,000 Question Probably Lyman is the only one to get that reference. Not saying Sanders is the worst of the bunch, but he will be the most over-drafted.
Go back to August I was doing mocks, Mel Kiper Sucks Thread. I shit you knot. I agree that things have certainly changed over the last 8 months.
