I've seen Gidion touch on the subject in the past but what is it with RTs sometimes being allowed to just move before anyone else when a ball is snapped and it doesnt get called? That final play TD for the Comtards the RT BLATANTLY comes out his stance before the ball is snapped! It was obvious in real time, but even more so on the replay. There's a name for it, its called a false start. Game deciding buffoonery from the officials.

Jonathan Vilma has long been a substandard announcer but he was on truly horrible form in the Bears game yesterday. Spent the entire day shitting on Caleb Williams despite the fact Williams had a very good game in spite of being on a clown car Offense with 5 performing seals blocking for him. Its consistent with the week on week theme of Williams being unable to catch a break from "the experts".

Beautiful case in point: The other week Troy Aikmen was telling us all about how sacks are a QB stat and Williams has no one to blame but himself. If you dont wanna be sacked just throw the ball away! This week on a redzone play Aaron Glenn shows all out pressure pre snap which morphs into Kerby Joseph dropping back right under DJ on a slant in the endzone. Its a classic call good DCs make to bait rookie QBs into killer picks. And it nearly worked except Caleb saw it at the last second and threw the ball out the back instead. So of course, rather than talk about A- Caleb not falling for the trap, or B- not hanging onto the ball and taking a sack on a blitz, or both(!), Vilma of course points out how close Williams was to throwing a pick and great job Kirby Joseph(not even Glenn lol). Truly awful all the way around.

Not that Vilma is alone in his cluelessness, there's been a bizarre duality in the way NFL media has covered this rookie QB class. While Daniels and Nix apparently fart rainbows every week, Caleb Williams is well on course to be the bust of the century it seems. Nevermind that two of them are in outstanding situations which an excellent supporting cast and top notch offensive coaching, while the other is already on his 2nd HC, 3rd OC and would get more blocking production from a traffic cone. Oh and did i mention how all 3 have massively similar numbers this season?(besides Caleb having a vastly superior TD/INT ratio)

Speaking of rookie QBs, i thought Pennix had a good debut yesterday all things considered. Didnt see every throw so not comprehensive, but what i did see had a lot of good. Certainly played better to the eye than the passer rating, which will have taken a big hit from an INT that was 0% his fault. It didnt look too fast for him, he played with good timing, and knew where his safety valves were and got the ball out quick when under pressure.

Yes he's in a great situation, yes he's been given time to prepare and yes it was a cupcake opponent at home, but all of that is also known as putting your player in a position to succeed. We should all be so lucky!

That and the headlock hold the tackles get away with 20 times a game can drive a fan of a good defensive teams crazy.

That non-call kills me and the other is the o-lineman getting called for NOT being on the line of scrimmage. They seem to call that once a game like its a 'quota', then on the very next play, the called lineman lines up exactly where he was the previous play.

Lets not forget we are all stupid and blind ok?

I agree. He was in a good situation because of the variables you mentioned, but he succeeded and didnt force things. He had a good presence and performed well and landed up with a big W to go with his debut. The experience he gained is very vital and with that offense he was in the right situation to just 'control' things and I believe he did.

I was looking at Caleb Williams stats and he is playing good, the Bears team is pure crap if their QB is playing that good and their record is 4-11. When my son said that the bears would only win three games this season I thought he was crazy, but here we sit two games left and they have only won four.

The AFC has 3 elite teams and the NFC has 3-5. The Packers could join elite status vs very good status and a case could be said for the Rams who are getting hot and healthy at the right time.

With Philly, Minny and Detroit nailing the "elite" status and a possible Rams and Packers inclusion... Id go 6 possibles with the Commanders, just because they put up 432 points this season. Washington not the greatest down the stretch, but if they start clicking now and into the Playoffs they would be my 'dark horse' sixth or does their porous defense keep them out of the conversation?

That game last week was their only true impressive game of the season considering the opponent and they had to do it vs a backup QB. They are a dark horse but they couldn't be considered elite.

Yeah Washington is nowhere near elite. Philly started like a train in that game, they were well on their way to getting boat raced only for Hurts to go down injured. Wash had 5 TOs in that game and needed the officials to take the night off early on the last play to win, they were lucky as hell. Then there's the lottery ticket win against the Bears. Oh and lets not forget the 3 point win against the Giants when NY's kicker got injured on the opening kickoff! Heck they were a 2 pointer away from losing to the Saints LOL! Thats 4 games ive just reeled off there.

The Commies could easily be 8-7 right now. They could have a losing record if they'd had half the bad luck of some teams this season. But the media has been on Jayden's jock since day 2 pushing the narrative so i get why some people might've got sucked in.

Isn’t funny how the refs don’t seem to make any bad calls that hurt the Chiefs? I’ve watched a lot of Chiefs games this season and haven’t witnessed any calls that just screwed them like every opponent they played.

Daniels earned the OROY though. Even before that game he definitely jumped back ahead of any momentum, Nix had. Washington won because of a whole eagles losing effort and a great 2nd half vs a defense that isn't Hurts. Any team can win at any time but Washington isn't elite. Had the Eagles won then Washington is staring at a chance of missing the playoffs. Last place schedules are nice to have.

Thomas Brown was proof last night that the Bears need to really get serios about a 'Head Coach'. I dont care how old Pete Carroll is, they need to buy this guy a supper or two and pick his brain... quite frankly, they need to hire this guy. Im not sure Mike Vrabal would be the right fit, but hiring anybody outside of the org is a must. No OC or DC is going to cut it.

If you look at the possible coaches available, Carroll, Vrabal and even some like DC Flores (Minnesota)... Id go Carroll. He has experience and thats what his age (73) brings. He also has a good resume, while others are un-tried... what do the Bears have to lose at this point?

Stepping up DC's and OC's isnt going to cut it. You need a, 'take over the whole org' type of guy who has a vision... someone who isnt just good on one side of the line of scrimmage, but someone who can run the whole shebang.

Just an opinion from a fan of the game.

Idk that unsportsmanlike penalty after the TD was pretty weak, pretty much caused a missed XP. Again the Refs had little to no impact on this game. In the games I have seen of the Chiefs, this notion they get all the calls is way overblown.

Here’s the thing with Carrol, when he has a QB playing well, he’s a great coach. When the QB isn’t playing well, he’s average… by the way, I think this is true of most coaches….

There aren’t enough good QBs to go around. The other problem is complacency. They need to constantly hone their craft, as soon as they think they are one of the best and are happy with that, you can bet they will have a down year the next year. Some QBs are motivated by their next paycheck, then you have the Tom Brady and Peyton Mannings of the world…

There are nameless talented QBs that get to the league and are either just happy to get that first $10M or can’t get along with professional coaching staffs/expectations and are out of the league in 3 years.

I’m not sold on Caleb Williams, I’m not sure Carroll can save this.

IMO, very little of the on-field product can have a line drawn back to the play of Caleb Williams.

For a rookie passer, in an abhorrent situation, I think his play has stood out as the kind that will solidify the position for the Bears in the long run.

The coaching staff in Chicago managed a 4 week stretch (7-10) where they couldn't get the offense in a position for the quarterback to complete a TD pass, yet Caleb didn't throw a pick. Three weeks into that stretch, the Bears shitcanned Waldron. From weeks 11 through 15, Williams threw 10 TDs and 0 INTs. He protected the football through the lean weeks and continued that trend when the offense finally started finding the endzone.

He broke, or shattered, the rookie record for completions without a pick during that stretch.

He was also on a pace to break the rookie passer record for sacks in a season, but Carr will retain that record at the final whistle of the Bears season. You can add the argument of his style of play contributing, but the Bears offensive line is just dogshit.

I'm less worried about Williams than I am the front office just pissing this opportunity away with an awful coaching hire, considering they appear to be intent on retaining the GM that didn't have the foresight to protect his most valuable investment by having a basic understanding of the inadequacies of his own roster.

Im on Tims side with this... no way does C Williams have anything to do with this. When you look at Eberflush and now the interim, along with the entire staff that makes the schemes and calls them, Williams was actually a miracle worker on a team with absolutely no direction and no talent at the top to guide them.

IMO, if the Bears head honchos that actually had the foresight to address the needs around the number 1 pick, things may have been different, but not right away.

IMO, the Bears dont have an adequate o-line, adequate WR's and even adequate RB's... on a half-assed team without coaching or executive leadership Williams did pretty damn good.

Bottom line for me... Coaches and football brains need to be implemented in Chicago. Seen many things how the bears are a 'family' right now... time to forget the kumbaya stuff and get some football brains in there that are aggressive... aggressive as far as the draft goes and aggressive as far as firing the people who dont fit the bill.

Back to the original point at hand... Eberflus sucked, the interim isnt much better, but Carroll or anyone named Pete would be an upgrade.
