I blame both of them. They are both to blame. He didn't want to acknowledge he was lost or whatever. He could have simply said he took too long to make sure everyone was set or something but he went about it a weird way.
I also may have misunderstood your post. I still believe Williams did what he did by dealing with the cards he was dealt by Eberflus, who should take 100% of the blame, not his rookie QB.
But ya he clearly was not mentally ready for that situation and he took too long to calm his nerves, regain his bearings, whatever you want to call it and the coach shouldn't have put. Him in that situation or at least realized that his so called 18 seconds was BULLSHIT because it got to that and no one was ready. He should have called it at that point, drew up a short pass and maydayed the kicking team out using the same Oline minus maybe the snapper if it ended inbounds.
The Dolphins loss last night gave them a big kick in the balls. They will need to catch one of the current wild-card teams: (1) the 8-3 Steelers or the 8-4 Ravens; (2) the 7-5 Chargers; or (3) the 7-5 Broncos. (They’ll also have to fend off the 5-7 Colts and the 4-7 Bengals.) Thats a tough way to go.
I Vote Eberflus..........WOW that was hard to watch yesterday and Matt should be FIRED Today......BLACK FRIDAY.
I agree Joe to an extent, but rookies make rookie mistakes. Eberflus should have that in consideration, thats his job. He made the clock management and play calls... not much for a rookie to do but follow the leader and take orders. I would have liked to hear Eberflus after the game say as much and admit he could have done better, but that dumbass just covered his dumbass and left Williams out of the picture. I really cant put any blame on Williams in that situation.
lol. Eberflus is fired. Far out. Didnt know that till 2 seconds ago, been busy. Should have happened last year.
This is historically significant. In the 125 years that the Bears have been part of the NFL, this is the FIRST time they have fired a coach mid-season. The closest they came was in December, 1941 when George Halas enlisted in the US Armed Forces after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Kansas City Chiefs were the first team to clinch a Playoff spot with their win over the Raiders on Friday.
Speaking of the Bills. Matt Milano is finally back. Milano, 30, has not played in a regular-season game since Oct. 8, 2023, when he suffered a season-ending leg injury in the team's game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The outside linebacker was on pace to return for the 2024 season but tore his biceps during a drill with a tackling dummy during training camp in August.
Cardinals sign RB James Conner to 2-year extension MINNEAPOLIS -- The cold won't bother Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner this weekend. Hours before he and the Cardinals boarded a plane to Minnesota for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Conner signed a two-year extension that will keep him in Arizona through the 2026 season, the team announced. A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter the deal is worth $19 million. Conner, whose base salary was $4.235 million in 2024, was set to be a free agent after the season. His $9.5 million average annual salary will make him the seventh-highest-paid running back by annual value. ESPN
