Scoring 17 points a game will win low scoring affairs, but why can't this Steelers team score more points?

It might help if the defense (secondary) would tighten up and quit putting the offense under pressure non stop. Steelers have issues on both sides of the ball, not just the offense. Whats amazing is they are 5-3 with a -30 points differential, just 1 game back of the Ravens. How lucky is that?

There are only two votes for one option, and I'm one of them...

I know you and I heartily disagree, but the best arm talent on the roster is listed as #3 on the depth chart.

We also disagree on the #2, but he is easily the most bullet tested on the roster and may be an upgrade at starter.

    The #1?

This coaching staff/front office combo is never going to admit the mistake.

Hubris is going to be the undoing of the franchise.

I don't disagree with that but he had his chance to put it on tape and the league is not interested. Not even as a #3. He only has his current position because of his familiarity with the offense.

Fortunately / unfortunately, they have proven they can win with shitty QB play. They aren't going to fall apart. They will just be mediocre until they are forced to acknowledge Kenny isn't the answer. That won't take long. Tomlin is known to spare no one in film review. He won't be able to keep the team united if he ignores how badly his QB is playing.

According to Rudolph there were other teams interested and he chose to stay with the Steelers.

Rudolph signed the vet minimum contract. It allows teams to pay vet minimum (in Rudoph's case 1,080,000 for vets 4-6yrs of service) and only count 940,000 against the cap. This vet minimum contract also allows up to a $152,500 signing bonus and still only counts 940,000 against the cap. Rudolph got $0 in signing bonus money. So any team that wanted him could have beaten the Steelers offer with a very small signing bonus and cost themselves nothing against the salary cap. And we're talking about the QB position and a guy who has 10 career starts.

Obviously, I can't say unequivocally no one else wanted Rudolph but they didn't make much of an effort if they did.

Kaboly came out on the radio and said it was more about the guaranteed roster spot that Pittsburgh offered as compared to the potential of some of his suitors drafting a passer (Indy was listed) and only holding two on the roster. We obviously don't know the dollars and sense that may have been offered to him, but I don't believe the money being offered would have been the driving factor for him to sign.

He (Kaboly) referenced half a dozen teams that inquired, but the thing nobody mentions is the Garrett allegation. That's something only time can distance him from, and it makes his ability to bounce to another roster with no guarantee of being retained trickier than a regular situation.

In Pittsburgh, if Ken and Mitch were to miss time and get him an opportunity to play meaningful reps, it could change his potential landscape. Basically, if he were to start or come off the bench and make that offense look anything like a functional one, some heads would likely turn enough to want him to be a primary backup.

Elsewhere, he may not be on a roster to get a chance at those reps, and there is a PR element involved for bringing him in.

I understand your point, but this isn't an average situation for him or his agent to navigate.

Dobbs has as many multi touchdown games with the Vikings in 1 game as Pickett has with the Steelers in 20 starts.

Credit Tim, for turning over every stone, but, err, the Garrett thing would not have been on my bingo card heh.

Im pretty sure the reason no one mentions it is cos it was total BS from the get go by a guy who realised the world of trouble he'd gotten himself into(remember the accusation didn't even get made right after the game, it came days later after Garrett started to shit his pants re suspensions). Borderline slanderous feels charitable.

Also pretty sure teams looking at a trade might put more stock in the fact that, among many other things, his HC one of the most respected voices in the entire league(who also happens to be black himself) went unequivocally 100% straight in to bat for him, publicly, when this all happened.

I dunno i think maybe they didn't trade for him cos he might not be very good.

The point is actually separate from whatever his value may be, and the trade deadline discussion ended the moment KP injured his ribs.

It's the idea of a team like Atlanta signing a quarterback that had an allegation of a racial slur against him

We, unfortunately, are living in times where an allegation is held with the same conviction of an actual conviction.

He has starting experience, a winning record and a collegiate resume that some other backups in the league don't possess.

And the Atlanta reference is twofold. One, the racial make-up of Atlanta. Two, the current quarterback room.

I'd take Rudolph over either passer that has started for the Falcons this season with supreme confidence that he would be a large upgrade, and I accept that people will see bias in my opinion.

Doesn't change my outlook in the slightest.

Interesting take. KP might not be CJ Stroud but right now I take him over Mac SUCK Jones who is a friggin' turnover machine. And anyone believe Zach Wilson should be starting for the Jets. They would be better with The Steelers #2 or #3 QB cuz man that DUDE SUCKS.

Also, Maurkice Pouncey who is black jumped right in to defend him. I think Garrett is talented and he is the best player he knows, major ego maniac.

The roster spot makes some sense and supports my argument. The interest from other teams was so underwhelming he chose the minimum wage job with no chance of promotion over competing for a backup job. Give him credit for being self aware.

I don't put too much stock in the Garrett allegation. Ancient history and I don't think too many people believed Myles anyway.
