So Roquan Smith was listed as doubtful yesterday morning for "personal reasons". A little while later it was confirmed he was out. No explanation given but usually that type of stuff makes you think it's a family emergency or something similar. But Smith was indeed on the bench for the Vikings game. Not in uniform obviously but he was there. Today in his press conference Nagy was non-committal about Smith playing against the Raiders. So what the hell is going on here?
On the positive, as far as I can tell, as much digging as the press has done, there are no police reports or anything like that (So no, to the dumbass behind me who said he probably beat his girlfriend). And no, he didn't drunk crash his car. On another positive, the team isn't saying ANYTHING. No one saying "we wish him the best". So whatever it is, the team is unified. On the negative, there is nothing out there. No leaks. No family leaks. No insider leak. Nothing like when Derrick Rose was caught in a SAT scandal. So, I tend to think this might be something like he found out something medically and they are under hippa laws [preventing them from saying anything - and they are giving him the space to figure it out. Or someone close to him.
This is starting to sound like the Corey Crawford ordeal when he hit a tree snowmobiling with his brother. Let the rumors begin in 3...2...1...
Based on everything coming in and the way it's being dealt with it really sounds like a mental health thing right now.
Those were my initial thoughts, but then why would he be on the sideline? Just a strange situation all around.
What the fuck? Obviously “white Nick” played well last week but I’m nervous if we have to rely on him. Really wonder what’s going on, and hope it’s nothing serious.
Yeah white Nick was a good matchup against a team that was gonna run straight at him and with really strong play up front. That’s not gonna happen every week.
I wonder if he got into a fight with a teammate or coach. That could describe the "erratic" behavior and also be a justification for deactivating him. But it wouldn't exactly explain why he's out indefinitely...
ESPN is showing that he could be out indefinitely , which tells us what we all know right now which is nothing .
Okay, that's the second time "indefinitely" has been mentioned, now what is the initial source of that statement? From Halas Hall or the Commissioners office.
I think the erratic line has to mean some kind of mental health issues, but hats off to them they are keeping it under wraps.
