I'm wondering if the Bears should have painted a fake "post" in the center of the net behind the goal posts... The funny thing is the general rule for a kicker is to locate a post and aim to hit, then take into account wind and hash, and adjust. Seems like Parkey just kept focusing on hitting the damn thing. Fuck him. And fuck you Pace for keeping him. You had 52 players battling for 59 minutes of that game. Players reading defenses, reacting to play calls, reacting to moves, shifts, stunts, routes, pad level, battling man on man, in the trenches, doing everything in their power to win. And then a fucking peice of shit kicker who never has to do ANY of that, whose only job is to kick a ball, failed... This team should be playing the Rams tomorrow in LA. We would win. Instead, because a fucking kicker, who was paid more than most of the team, and more than 30 other NFL kickers, and more than most of us will ever make in our entire life, fucked up the most important kick of his life, we are all (Bears, Bears fans, Bears coaches, Bears owners) sitting here watching teams we would beat, play on. Fuck you Parkey,
It really is a shock. I've only been a fan for about 15 minutes so this didn't hit me the same way it did all of you but still ... I'm shocked. Why wasn't Cohen used more? What happened to the ferocious 'eat 'em alive' attitude the Bears had for most of the season, during that final game? Most importantly, why was Parkey still on the team, ready, willing and able to completely destroy the Bears' hopes and dreams after such a hard fought season?
What upsets me most besides this stupid kicker thing is that they will probably look to shop Howard in a trade deal. It's not so much as sending him away, but instead what is left behind Mizzell. The fact that Nagy went away from Howard during the course of the year and then brought him back strong for a couple games only to fade his role again by bringing in Mizzell so early in games is telling for Howard's future with this team.
