The Minnesota Vikings will look to wrap up their first NFC North division title since their magical 2017 season when they travel to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions in Week 14 NFL action. This will be the back half of the home-and-home series between these two teams. They played a thriller at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 3, as the Vikings scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to secure a 28-24 victory over their division rivals. Kirk Cousins connected with K.J. Osborn on a 28-yard touchdown pass with just 45 seconds left on the clock to give the Vikings the final margin of victory. There’s no doubt that a lot of members of the Vikings still have a bad taste in their mouths from the last time they visited Ford Field. That happened last season, when the previously winless Lions hosted the Vikings in a back-and-forth affair. After the Vikings took a late lead, Jared Goff marched the Lions down the field, connecting with Amon-Ra St. Brown for an 11-yard touchdown as time expired to give Dan Campbell his first NFL coaching victory, 29-27. The Vikings currently have a “magic number” of 1 to win the NFC North. That means that any Minnesota victory or any Lions loss between now and the end of the season will give the Vikings the division crown. Short of the Vikings losing the rest of their games and the Lions running the proverbial table, we can pencil the Vikings in for a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019. It would be nice if they could get it done as quickly as possible, though. The DraftKings Sportsbook has installed the Vikings as an early 1-point favorite in this one, and they’re expecting a high-scoring affair, having set the early over/under at 52.5 points. Kickoff for this one is slated for noon Central time on Sunday from Ford Field, with the game being broadcast on the FOX family of networks. We’re going to have all of our information on this game right here for you to easily access, and we hope that you enjoy our coverage. DAILY NORSEMAN
Five Vikings miss practice with illness Plenty of bugs are currently going around. Plenty of Vikings currently have one of them. Five Vikings players didn’t practice on Wednesday due to illness. Out were defensive end Danielle Hunter, cornerback Patrick Peterson, safety Harrison Smith, safety Theo Jackson, and fullback C.J. Ham. As the week unfolds, more players and coaches could end up being sick, too. The Vikings visit the Lions on Sunday. Elsewhere on the first injury report of the week for Minnesota, defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard missed practice with a biceps injury. Limited in practice were left tackle Christian Darrisaw, who is healing from a concussion. Center Garrett Bradbury also was limited, with a back injury. Linebacker Eric Kendericks fully participated, despite a shoulder injury. One bit of good news is that quarterback Kirk Cousins didn’t appear on the report at all. He was hit hard and seemed to be in significant pain during the first half of Sunday’s win over the Jets. PFT
With all the weapons going on display in Detroit, both the Vikings and the Lions are stacked, we might just see a shootout, especially with both teams having a 'bend dont break' kinda defense going at the moment. Honestly, Im expected another 'one of those' games where its a 1 score W for the team with the ball last. Maybe a 38-36 job, or something like that. Vikings better be ready, because I know the Lions will be... they have a lot to play for, they are home and Coach Campbell will turn Goff and Williams loose. You'd think Id be used to these 1 score games by now.
Yes... a defib, blood pressure pills, psychotropic meds and a way cute nurse. Well hell... just put me in a straight jacket now, please!
The Minnesota Vikings are about to play their first game outside of the state of Minnesota since they beat the Buffalo Bills 33-30 on Sunday, November 13th. While they are playing outside of the state, they still get to play indoors and won’t play outside until January 1st when they take on the Green Bay Packers. Sunday is the first of three NFC North road games the Vikings will play before seasons end. The Lions have won four of their last five games and are playing really good football. Jared Goff has only thrown one interception compared to seven touchdowns over that span. VIKINGS WIRE
Why Minnesota Vikings Will Win Oooooooh, the Lions are playing well with four wins over the last five games. The win at the Giants was strong – the offense was almost perfectly balanced in that and the +3 turnover margin helped. Who else did they beat over the run? Green Bay, Chicago, and Jacksonville teams that should enjoy a nice long offseason, and too much is made out of the close fight with Buffalo – Thanksgiving games always skew things a tad. Minnesota should be able to run at will on the Lion defensive front that’s been fine, but will give up over 100 yards. The offense isn’t turning it over enough to matter, and … Why Detroit Lions Will Win Jared Goff is about to have a huge day. He’s playing great lately with 220 yards or more in three over the last four games, the passing attack went off on the Vikings in the first meeting in the 28-24 loss back in Week 3, and it should all keep working against the worst pass defense in the NFL. Teams keep throwing to try keeping up the pace, and everyone is successful with the last four offenses cranking up 300 passing yards. Minnesota has given up 297 passing yards or more in six of the last seven games, and … What’s Going To Happen Ground game, ground game, ground game. Minnesota ran for 123 yards in the first meeting, and doing that again will settle things down in what should be a wild shootout. Detroit got ripped up by Chicago’s running game, but it’s 0-7 against everyone else when allowing 107 rushing yards or more, and 4-0 when allowing fewer. Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison will combine for 120 yards. Story originally appeared on College Football News
Can the Vikings keep the magic happening? There’s only one way to beat the Vikings — blow them out. If it’s close, the Vikings quite possibly will find a way to win. In those coin-flip moments, they’ve won the toss every time this year, with a 9-0 record in one-score games. Today, it continues in Detroit, where the Lions are favored. In large part because few believe that the Vikings can keep doing what they’ve done all year long. The Vikings believe it, however. After the Week 13 win over the Jets, cornerback Patrick Peterson explained the mindset that permeates the team’s defense. The defensive players see themselves as “closers,” Peterson told me. Every one of them. “All eleven guys out there believe that they can make the play,” Peterson said. “We don’t know who’s going to make it, but we know somebody’s gonna make it.” One week, it’s Peterson. Another week, it’s Camryn Bynum. Another week, it’s Cameron Dantzler. And if the Vikings are trailing late, it’s the offense that needs to make the play. Again, they have the confidence to do it. The ability of the Vikings to keep finding ways to win has created a sense of confidence and optimism among Minnesota’s players. Peterson also is starting to notice that Minnesota’s 2022 track record is making the opponent leery about the Vikings making a game-winning play when the game is on the line. “I’m starting to feel that more and more each and every week,” Peterson said. “More and more we’re starting to be in this position because I’m sure coming into the game that they’re talking about it. ‘We don’t wanna hurt ourselves by turning the ball over in the fourth quarter, turning the ball over in the red zone.’ “I just really feel that this defense, this team is just so optimistic. Just so many things can happen and so many guys can make it happen, you know? [G.M.] Kwesi [Adofo-Mensah] did a great job of building this team. [Coach Kevin O’Connell] did a great job of coming in here and being the head of this thing and making sure that guys understand the position that we’re in don’t come around very often. So, let’s enjoy this moment and let’s continue to relish this moment.” The next moment is coming today. Many believe the bubble will burst. If it’s close at the end, the Vikings will believe that someone will find a way to save the day. Again. If it happens today, they’ll clinch the NFC North title with four weeks to go. And they’ll keep chasing the Eagles for the No. 1 seed in the conference. PFT
The Lions as favorites is still quite unusual/weird to me. I understand the Lions are hot, great offense and at home, but a 10-2 team vs a sub-.500 Lions team is a mystery to me. Vikings may be on the road, but they will be in a dome (something they are quite comfortable with) and an early game and healthy, so excuse me... I'll take the 10-2 team all day.
But all the pressure is on the Lions to get the job done being that their the favorite WTF I just love the disrespect
Vikings 0 Lions 7 Vikings going for points cheap shot by the Lions well the Vikings scored it's Vikings 7 Lions 7
