I don't know yet if new Atlanta GM Terry Fontenot is a true devotee of the Best Player Available approach to the draft and roster building, but he's much, much closer to that end of the spectrum than his predecessor. A huge part of that approach is to fill the critical needs using free agency and trades rather than depending on the draft to plug holes. Fontenot is doing that. The roster is close to complete as is, in the sense that the team at least has a competent stop-gap for every remaining issue. Here's how the Atlanta Falcons stand ahead of the draft: QB: Desmond Ridder, Taylor Heinecke RB: Tyler Allgeier, Cordarrelle Patterson FB: Keith Smith TE: Kyle Pitts, Jonnu Smith, Parker Hesse WR: Drake London, Mack Hollins, Scotty Miller, KhaDarel Hodge OL: Jake Matthews, Matt Hennessy, Drew Dalman, Chris Lindstrom, Kaleb McGary (active OL reserves: Germain Ifedi, Joshua Miles, Ryan Neuzil) DL: Grady Jarrett, Calais Campbell, David Onyemata, TaQuon Graham NT: Eddie Goldman, Timmy Horne OLB/Edge: Kaden Elliss, Lorenzo Carter, Arnold Ebiketie, DeAngelo Malone ILB: Troy Andersen, Mykal Walker CB: A.J. Terrell, Jeff Okudah, Mike Hughes, Casey Hayward, Dee Alford S: Jessie Bates, Richie Grant, Jaylinn Hawkins K: Younghoe Koo P: Bradley Pinion LS: Liam McCullough PR/KR: Avery Williams, Cordarrelle Patterson This means Fontenot has the freedom to take any position at all in the early rounds, or to trade down if the offer is right.
