Was anyone else sick when we waived him ... was there any chance he made it through waivers with that kind of a preseason ?... we're 9th on the list with 24 hours between us and reclaiming a mistake in potential quality player and familiar with system and Chick is, I'm afraid, a forgone conclusion... for at best an undetermined amount of time ...

Will one of these teams claim him:

    Bengals
    Dolphins
    Falcons
    Redskins
    Jets
    Broncos
    Chargers
    Saint Lyman’s Browns
    Buccaneers

No NFL team claimed him. He is now free to sign with any NFL team.

Yeah, this actually makes a lot of sense. They had to see his value and future potential ... really pretty shrewd move the Steelers couldn't get away with...

We have chick's and Moncriefs spots to fill on the 53 man roster. No way is Moncrief worth a third rd pick.

    From Steelers Depot:

    "Steelers Release WR Donte Moncrief"

"The Pittsburgh Steelers have released WR Donte Moncrief, signing RB Tony Brooks-James to take his place on the team’s 53 man roster.

Releasing Moncrief recoups their third round compensatory pick for 2020. Had the Steelers kept Moncrief through Week 10, they wouldn’t have been eligible for one since the Philadelphia Eagles released LJ Fort weeks ago. Signing Moncrief back even after this week would still negate the comp pick, meaning his time in black and gold is over.

Entering the season as a starter, Moncrief had numerous drops the first two games and has barely played since then. He signed a two year, $9 million deal in the offseason. His Steelers’ career finishes with just four receptions for 18 yards. A dislocated finger suffered early in training camp certainly played a factor in his struggles."

It was just a matter of time before the Moncrief experiment was terminated. This move is best for both sides.
