This team sucks

I’m not only over the edge I’m halfway down the building. You might ask why? It’s not the losses. It’s the future of this team, and I hope I’m wrong but that’s all it is, the hope of a desperate Bears fan. The guy who buys lotto tickets looking for a way to break it big.

It starts up top with the owners. This team is looking like the only way they win is Blackhawks-sequel with a change at the top. Fucking decades of this shit is enough and we continue to support them. And it’s not their fault they don’t know football. This team died literally with Papa Bear Halas who had no successor. They try to react to what the fans say, but a GOOD team would have the talent evaluation or football smarts to turn the rudder in the right direction. They know it too which is why when hiring Pace they brought in all the extra help. I can’t wait until the end of the season for George and sweaty Teddy to tell us things are going in the right direction after we “come back” to go 7-9 this year. Fuck them. From Juicebox to Fox and everything since Halas died? Fuck them sideways.

Pace? Go read dlines post in the trade thread for the draft breakdown which is excellent. To me only one thing makes it completely bleak. QB scouting. This is a guy who signed Mike Glennon and the motherfucking butt fumble as options (I had forgotten about the latter). Two years left on his contract, he’s going nowhere so hope is what we have for this. Maybe Robs right and you can build a team for success solely through FA. But I look at the cap and am worried.

Nagy? He’s a round peg on square hole kind of guy and stubborn about it. “We need to run more I’m not an idiot” followed by “if it’s not working I won’t do it” when they ran 7 whole times in the Saints game. You could have fucking sweetness back there and he wouldn’t have time to find rhythm. There are things I love about Nagy, and I do think he’s got the team behind him. But that FG on 2nd down is what cost trestman the locker room. Not saying it happens here but holy duck to defend that conservative horseshitnis too much. They FINALLY commit to the run and it works and Nagy says “they adjusted” and goes to ducking air mail school. The red zone playcalling. I cant recal ever seeing fucking 3 separate red zone attempts FROM WITHIN THE 10 end in 3 points. Let’s not forgot the decision to fly to London late.

Trubisky? I love the guy and his work ethic, I empathize with him so much because it’s clear he WANTS to be better. But he isn’t. And as we say during the Bolts game, the scheme doesn’t help his shortcomings. I formation play action and he delivers a dart. He can’t run Nagys offense and Nagy continues to try. And while it may not be fair to compare him to other draftees Pace COMPOUNDED the mistake by trading up. Fuck man if Trubs wasn’t there we take INE OF THE OTHERS LIKE MAHOMES OR WATSON AND SAVE THE PICKS!!

So what does this mean? It’s going to be several years before the Bears sniff the playoffs again. Tuna said last years team felt like 1984. Except it actually was 2001, and we’re in 2002 right now. But the plus side means that if history repeats we’ll get to get smacked in the Super Bowl in 4 years.

Just a minute ago I saw on ESPN Monday morning overreactions and the topic was the bears have zero percent chance at the playoffs. I disagree. I think the odds are as good as a running back fumble at the end of the game on second down.

Fuck this team from top to bottom and fuck me for being a fan of them.

Let's not forget that one of those trips to the red zone had two different defensive penalties and they still couldn't push it in.
Yeah I said it was like Hotel California where we at some point every year we check out, but we never leave and compound that with the movie groundhog day and the twilight zone. That's our world.

Yesterday was the first time in a very long time I can remember voluntarily not watching the game when I had nothing else to do.

And it felt fucking great to not invest 3 hours getting angry and then spending the rest of my afternoon pissed off. I just don’t care anymore.

    Fuck it.

Everything happening this season proves that last was a fluke. It was a lot of fun and as a fan of this team I've come to realize we get regular seasons like that once, maybe twice, in a decade. Same old sorry ass Bears.

Fix the QB room. There will be options this offseason that can keep the window open for a still very talented roster.

Trubisky has done us a favor by sucking as bad as he has. It’s saves us a season of maybe he can still be the guy.

For the rest of the season Nagy needs to stick with running his offense through Montgomery. We are not making the playoffs but a winning record is not out of the question.

Was gonna start my own thread of thoughts but this thread seems appropriate for everything I wanted to say.

    - I rarely blame play calling. Especially with Nagy calling the plays because when you go back and watch it again there are usually open players on a lot of plays and you can visually see players executing poorly. But this Chargers game was an abortion by Nagy. The run game finally clicked which means everything else should just fall into place but it didn't. On the goal line it was a cluster fuck. Why didn't you try to run it with Davis or Monty up the gut more often? Why is Shaheen the guy you wanna aim for when you have Robinson?

    - Nagy has a habit of trying to force his offense instead of just letting what works...work. His whole "Be You" bullshit is getting in the way of plays that actually have a chance to work on the field. Football isn't as complicated as some analyst want you to believe it is. Sometimes it's okay to just line up and let your best players beat their best players with a simple play.

    - I'm tired of Trubisky fan boys hanging on to late game drives that Mitch has played well in. The Eagles game last season. The Broncos game. This Chargers game. Great....he led the team down for a field goal attempt. But what about how he played for the 3.75 quarters leading up to that moment?

    - Hicks missing hurts this defense. Floyd going back to old Floyd instead of the Floyd that ended the year last season and showed up in the Packer game hurts more. Mack needs another pass rusher to play opposite him. He's getting triple teamed out of plays. No pass rusher in the game can handle that.

    - I see Eddie Jackson talking a lot about fans booing after games. I don't see Eddie Jackson doing a lot to make fans cheer during games.

    - What's the deal with Kyle Fuller? Is it scheme and coaching or is he just a lost soul again? I know he had a pick but he's still playing way off the ball and giving up a lot of easy catches.

    - Roy Robertson Harris is a stud.

    - James Daniels is also well on his way to being a stud. He has steadily improved each week since Week 1 and is right now playing some really good football.

    - Massie and Leno can fuck off.

    - Anthony Miller is a legit NFL WR and only needs to be on the field and have his number called to prove it. The guy is a great underneath route runner and needs to utilized as such....the way the Steelers used to use Hines Ward. He's that type of player.

    - Mitch plays better when Nagy gets out of his ear and lets him just play. When he's just lining up and slinging it....I actually see his potential. In heavily scripted plays...he looks lost. Nagy needs to let go a little and just let him play.

    - This season couldn't be more of a disappointment and I feel like it's my fault for actually believing in them to begin with. This franchise has repeatedly done these things to their fanbase. Yet we keep buying in like suckers only to get gut punched. Meanwhile the yellow and green fucks in Wisconsin are pondering post season and SB dreams this season. I wanna fucking puke over it and I want the McCaskeys to just sell this team to someone that gives a shit and fall off the face of the earth. Worst owners in major professional sports today.

It's not like he's actually thrown a TD pass in any of those scenarios either. Yes, he got the team in range. But no last second TD, no highlight throw for his career. Guys like Favre could occasionally have games where they sucked until the final drive of the game, but then always finished the game in triumph with a TD pass and a win. Mitch has not come close to those kind of heroics yet.

I like that quote by Tuna.............because what the Hell is going on with Da Bears ???

Trade deadline has come and gone, with no trades whatsoever. That confirms:

This season is over. No NFL QB on this team, and Nagy hasn't shown the ability to get past that this season. Two seasons with phenomenal defenses and good supporting offensive casts wasted by the QB position. Unacceptable.

  10. blang84 Legend Bears

It confirms Pace still thinks we can win with the current roster and that he has no interest in building draft capital for next year. Meaning it could be even bleaker going forward unless he miraculously solves the QB position.

  11. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

It could also mean Pace wants to attempt to fix the QB issues with what will be available in the off-season versus what was available at the trade deadline.

That is the first thing I thought too blang buddy.

Real QB's deliver the knife to the heart with their own hand. They don't get to the 30 then stall out and let someone else handle it. Harsh but true.

Will have to be free agent, hopefully will have the cap space for somebody like Bridgewater since there's no chance we can afford Dak.

  14. blang84 Legend Bears

He also could have helped our cause with the QB in the off-season by getting some cap space and or additional draft picks.

  15. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

That would be driving in two directions at the same time.....trying to improve immediately but also trying to build on the future....and that's a really hard game to play when you have current holes to fill.

  16. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

With the offseason moves that can be made I have little doubt we could afford Bridgewater. Or be an attractive destination for someone like Phillip Rivers.

  17. blang84 Legend Bears

How would trading away older vets or hefty contracts (i.e. Burton) be trying to improve immediately? We should be trying to build on the future. Not a re-build. But looking towards next season to plug the various roster holes and of course the QB, with the cap space and additional picks.

  18. EvertonBears M.V.P. Bears

It probably just confirms what the Bears true position was. They certainly didn't have the capital to bring anyone in, Pace has traded that away already. But for all our talk on the other thread, they were never really in a position of quitting on the season either. Trading away players would be an acknowledgement that this season was over. And while I look at the state of the team and the upcoming schedule and def do think its over, you'll find very few GMs prepared to admit that at 3-4.

Plus this is a team they're trying to hold together right now. Not much does that less than trading away starters.

  19. BearsWillWin Drunk (Probably) Patreon Champion Manager Bears Blackhawks Cubs

This team is still close to winning right now. You have Khalil Mack in his prime. AR in his prime. Hicks and Goldman in their prime.

anything other than win now makes no sense.
