So the only way NFL fans can watch the Dolphins and Chiefs is to be a subscriber to Peacock? What kind of shit is this. I know we are going towards apps, Amazon Prime has TNF, but that is the regular season. If you shop at Amazon, most do, it's just part of a service, plus they have Reacher, which is one of the best series out there. Nobody but NBC is pushing their app in the post season, kind of like PPV, and it's bullshit. Give a second game to Fox or CBS then. I feel for the fans who want to watch the playoff game and are forced to pay for it. it's wrong on so many levels. -end rant.
Yeah, it's shitty. On the other hand, I don't watch the FOX or CBS games because we don't pay for cable (or Paramount +), but I got a deal for Peacock for the year for less than $20. So, while I wholeheartedly agree that locking access behind an app subscription sucks, it's really not that much different than what the other providers have done, and is arguably much more affordable.
I remember the first year that they went to an extra team in the playoffs. 3 games Saturday, 3 games Sunday. All on network TV. It was great! Football from 10 o'clock in the morning till 8:30 at night. If it works, don't fix it!!!
Ive been bitching about PPV sports since its inception. As it stands now, you have to subscribe to a cable provider and an ISP and on top of those subscriptions, NBC comes along and wants you to subscribe on top of your said subscriptions for their exclusive shit. The NFL allows it, condones it and even though they are laterally a multi-BILLION dollar industry, they are at the moment shooting/targeting the world wide arena for teams and you guessed it... there will be more subscriptions. Taking a game like the Dolphins vs Chiefs and having it exclusively on NBC's Pisscock is just a money grab. I guess the rich dont care and are oblivious to the cost of living increases we have at every end of the spectrum and thats a crime. Bottom line for me... Im a pirate, have been, always will be.
I'm a subscriber with DirecTV.. DirecTV uses the network feed for NBC from WKYC in Cleveland for my viewing area. WKYC and DirecTV have had a pissing contest over the past 2 or 3 months so I haven't had access to NBC programing for that entire period. Early on in their pissing contest there was an Ohio State game (Penn State I believe) so I hooked up with Peacock. About two weeks later, I contacted DirecTV and told them that, because they're charging me for service they aren't providing, I will be deducting the cost for Peacock from my DirecTV payment. It's now been two months and they haven't bitched at me yet.
My argument is that NBC bid on these playoff games before they went all app rouge. The equivalent would be ABC telling us that the BUCS AND EAGLES will only be on Hulu.
