still hung up on the usage of "guru" ? lmao!

this is hilarious! Oh well, sorry guys. It's been a little slow with the bye and all. What can I do? Now he's getting personal, which is somewhat comical and most likely deserved because I can't stop calling him an IDIOT, and he can't stop living up to every bit of it! lol! What is this, 3 pages now and he still can't get over the fact that I called Pettine a defensive guru?? Now, maybe I'm crazy, but that seems like a perfectly apt description. I know that I've heard many a broadcaster use the same term in speaking of Mike Pettine.....

So here we are. Now stopper is bragging about running circles around me. (btw; I'd hope so, since I walk with a cane and I've never run a day in my life...just happy to be walkin, sport) And though I'm certain you didn't mean it literally, I still wanted to take a shot, because you are the biggest asshat on these boards, and you never fail prove it on an almost daily basis...

Just for the record...why not call the likes of Belichick, LeBeau, Lombardi, Shula etc. "masterminds"? Works for me. They qualify as "masterminds" of football in my book....

The thing is stopper, I'm a freakin BROWNS fan! If I wanna call my head coach a "GURU" of defense, then who the hell are you to question it? and YOU are the one that attached all the other names and tried to spin the whole thing...You make too much of the word, that's the problem....Put it this way, if Dennis Allen and Pat Shurmur strolled into your local watering hole, who are the football "guru's" in that bar??? Give it a rest man...Hell, I'm considered a sports guru in my town. Everybody in my circles knows if they have a Super Bowl era football question, they can come to me and I'll know it. As it should be. I've studied the sport like a freak since I was a little kid. I don't care if you respect that or not. I know it's true. Football has been an obsession of mine forever, and I love it...Wouldn't have it any other way. So how do ya like that stopper? I'M a guru! lol!

And one more thing...don't make absurd guarantees. It makes you look even more ridiculous.

If you've ascended to the highest level of your profession, you are a "guru" of that profession in most circles across the land....

I'm tryin to be as clear as possible here...

Not all doctors are great....But if you are in a restaurant and someone is having a heart attack, it's nice to have one of those "medical guru's" (doctors) around....Do you see what I'm saying?

Hopefully this is sinking in...I have my doubts

    Browns vs. Tennessee Titans

Sunday, 1 p.m., in L.P. Field, Nashville, TN

    Record: 1-3.

Last game: Lost to Indianapolis Colts, 41-17, Sept. 28, in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Coach: Ken Whisenhunt, 1-3, first year; 50-56 overall.

    Series record: Browns lead, 33-28.

Last meeting: Titans won, 31-13, Oct. 2, 2011, in Cleveland.

League rankings: Offense is 26th overall (17th rushing, 29th passing), defense is 15th (22nd rushing, 9th passing) and turnover differential is minus-1.

Offensive overview: It?s Whisenhunt?s show on offense ? his system and he calls the plays. Through four games, the Titans are the only team to not score a single point in the first quarter. Changes are coming in the form of a simpler gameplan. Whisenhunt believes the volume of the gameplans, coupled with a team learning a new system, has boggled it. Additionally, playing behind deficits of 14-0, 16-0 and 17-0 has reduced opportunities for a running game that has been effective (5.0 average) using a three-man rotation of Shonn Greene, rookie Bishop Sankey and Dexter McCluster. The big hope for Whisenhunt is the return of starting quarterback Jake Locker after one week off with a wrist injury. Locker has a big arm, but is erratic (four INTs in 101 passes). Locker has had some success in a no-huddle and Whisenhunt would like to get him throwing on the run more accurately. The offense has been victimized, too, by inconsistent play from receivers Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter and Nate Washington. Consequently, the surest receiving target has been tight end Delanie Walker (22 receptions, 317 yards, three touchdowns).

Defensive overview: Coordinator Ray Horton has a long project on his hands with his new team. The Titans have drafted for and played in a 4-3 defensive system for 15 years. So when Horton attempts to implement his Dick LeBeau-inspired 3-4, zone-blitz scheme in one year, well, there are going to be a lot of misfits. He simply doesn?t have the personnel to run it effectively. His main outside linebackers ? the key to his pass rush ? are Kamerion Wimbley and Derrick Morgan. Wimbley scored 11 sacks as a Browns rookie in 2006, but hasn?t come closer than nine since. And Morgan has played his entire NFL career as a 4-3 defensive end. Neither has a sack in four games. Horton?s defense has been largely responsible for the team?s early deficits (outscored, 27-0, in the first quarter). It hasn?t gotten off the field, evidenced by a 39.2 percent third-down conversion rate by opponents, and ultimately wears down from overwork. Cornerback has also been a problem and one change could be Coty Sensabaugh taking over for Blidi Wreh-Wilson at one starting spot.

Special teams overview: Kicker Ryan Succop is 6 of 8 in field goals with a long of 47 yards and is 21st with 10 touchbacks on kickoffs. Succup missed two field-goal tries of less than 45 yards in windy conditions in Cincinnati. Punter Brett Kern is 20th in gross average (44.5) and 22nd in net (38.0). The return teams have been negligible and were victimized by a surprise onside kick in Indianapolis. Leon Washington is 20th in kickoff returns with a 17.9 average.

    Players to watch:

    1. Tight end Delanie Walker: In his second season since coming over from the 49ers, he leads the team with 22 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns ? a pace that would shatter personal career highs over his previous eight seasons.

    2. Defensive end Jurrell Casey: One of the few defensive players who has been able to adapt to Ray Horton?s multi-front system, he leads the team with two sacks after a 10 ?-sack year in 2013 playing tackle in the former 4-3 alignment.

    3. Cornerback Jason McCourty: His two interceptions in Tennessee?s opening game win tie him with 12 others, including the Browns? Tashaun Gipson, for third in the NFL.

Injury report: TE Taylor Thompson (knee) did not play in the last game. QB Jake Locker (wrist) did not play, but was expected to return this week. CB Blidi Wrey-Wilson (concussion) and TE Delanie Walker (shoulder) could be limited.

Small world: Ken Whisenhunt was Browns special teams coach in 1999 ? defensive coordinator Ray Horton held the same position with the Browns in 2013 ? other coaches formerly with Browns: Louie Cioffi (defensive backs), 2013; Nick Eason (assistant defensive line), 2013; Cannon Matthews (defensive quality control), 2013; Luke Steckel (offensive assistant), 2009-12; Mike Sullivan (assistant offensive line), 2001-04, 2007-08, 2013 ? Eason also played for Browns 2004-06 ? Matthews is a native of Bedford Heights and attended Ohio University ? linebacker Kamerion Wimbley was a Browns first-round pick in 2006 and played through 2009 ? linebacker Quentin Groves was Browns special teams captain in 2013 ? running back Bishop Sankey is from Wadsworth ? linebacker Avery Williamson was born in Cleveland.

    Posting as a competitive sport?

I didn't know you can win / lose in posting opinions. And who's the judge?

I just like to read them, and cringe when it goes personal.

Idiot, Troll, Ahole, Moron, Dunce, Pinhead, Retard, Bottom Feeder, etc.... are nothing but personal attacks, and shed no light on the argument, only on the poster, not the one he is disputing whatever point they are beating to death.

It is entertaining, to a point, so go ahead and attack, but know it only weakens the opinions of readers.

I assume 99% of us in the Lounge are Browns fans. Some of us are optimists, some pessimists, so our postings will reflect that. OK with me. When we win it all, some day, we will all be deleriously happy, but even then some will see the missed opptys, and be sure to point them out, but it won't diminish the joy.

Here's to that day when we can all argue over how to celebrate and set up for continued success after hoisting the SB trohpy. Duff set em up, while I savor the idea of it.

I agree 100% Ken...The personal stuff is stupid. But it's been three days and countless posts about the word "guru" and how and to whom it should apply...I mean my lord. He isn't going to let it go either. lol!

Oh well...My apologies for the personal stuff....I get carried away sometimes, and I get really frustrated with negativity as most of the posters here know all to well.

Well, EVERYONE on these boards has to admit...They all certainly hope that Manziel turns into the greatest QB in Browns history. As little as any give that to actually happening, if it did, everyone on these boards would be instant fans of the kid and would let personal feelings be set aside as to what ever misgivings they have for him.

We are all united in the fact we would like to see that next GREAT Browns player sooner rather than later. I am in no way saying I currently believe he is that player, little is known about him at this point...but if he is, everyone will love him, not just us Manzealots?!!

    aaaaand.....

If Hoyer ends up the next great Browns QB, all the fans will love him too, not just the Hoyelists.

Win games....the fan support will come.

    Hallelujah TD...

There could be a problem, ANY QB with a winning record will be sought after HARD in free agency...Is 9-7 good enough to pay $16M per year to Hoyer? Because some dumbass team is going to overpay for that type of QB...

He can't be a guru, Lulz. The man has no legs and therefore can't run circles around TD. Geez!!!!! Try again.

    lol! nice guru Lulz..

Let it be known that this dawg is neither a Hoyelist nor a Manzealeot....I really do like both QB's. I like the hard working grit with Hoyer, and I like the sensational athleticism of Johnny...

Just win...it will sort itself out if we have a real franchise QB in Cleveland...and if we have two? Well, that would be a crazy, but there are obviously worse problems that could exist...

Irish, I know it's a big deal with Hoyer and I'm sure our execs are worried. The Browns were trying to get something done with Hoyer a couple months ago. Dude has nothing to lose...In the business world, it's good for Hoyer, and clearly not ideal for the Browns...bottom line: He's playing to well right now for the Browns to turn to the rookie. That said, he is going to have to keep playing well, and start winning, to hold off Johnny....Considering the business aspects, I don't know if Hoyer is capable of sustaining the level of play he needs to sustain...Right now he MUST win or the hook is coming. I don't think there's any doubt about that.

Love him ? respect him ? not until he changes his attitude and acts right . if he wins I will accept him but respect him or love him is a real stretch .

until then " trademark " Johnny Clipboard !

he is the most polarizing figure to ever don the sacred burnt orange & seal brown . that I will give him .

  20. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

So if it had been Broadway Joe leading the Browns to the Super Bowl instead of the Jets, would you have loved him? He never beat women, or really did anything illegal, but when it wasn't time to play or practice he sure as hell enjoyed himself in a legal, but promiscuous way. Manziel basically does the same thing, without to my knowledge, even being promiscuous.

But, I digress, I stand by the statement if he becomes the best QB in our hallowed history, he will be loved by all...swans or no swans...
