The Good: A win is a win, and especially on the West Coast. TJ was a wrecking ball. Some good play from Adams and Benton. Harvin with some long boots, Boswell was money. Return Game with Austin is so much electric. No picks from Pickett, although there should have been one. Jalen Warren with the stone block on Crosby. Steeler Nation in Vegas they were there in full force. The Bad: Our offensive tackles, they were beaten like a red headed step child. The stupid penalty on Leal, that is coaching because he should be told what to never get caught doing. The zebras, that roughing the Passer call and no calls, no consistency whatsoever. Connor Heyward did not have a good game. The Ugly: Letting Davante Adams run wild, ever heard of a double team? Najee with the hesitation, come on dude. Too many 3 and outs. In general the lazy zone scheme. The LOL: Cowboys and Ravens. Zach Wilson and the Jets wholly inept Batman.
Up 23-7 going into the 4th quarter against a team like the Raiders should not be a defibrillator needing game. Offense needs to close that game out, I think they only had 21 yards in the 4th quarter
Charlie has a lot of knowledge and is pretty fair when he breaks down players and games. Me personally I miss Tunch and Wolf.
The good: Watt if he can keep it up he should own the sack record after this season instead of being tied with a man who broke it with a gimmie sack from Favre. The bad: questinable roughing the passer call they should make these reviewable I know it will disrupt the flow of the game but replays showed it wasnt yet if you were standing where the ref was and had his angle at full speed I can see why he threw the flag. As viewers I think we dont realize just how fast the game is played on the field and that the refs unlike us dont get the luxry of slow motion replays from multiple angles. While it was good for us the descion to accept the penaltybfor leverage and thenend up kicking a FG anyways if you are not goingn4 downs there you kight as well keepmthe points and the time on the clock and decline the penalty. The ugly: because it was a win the Steelers brain trust will think they actually ,ade improvments and that they are correct in having Canada in place. The truth is the raiders are a bad team. Prior to last night tneir defense had allowed a whopping 81.7% completion rate through two games. Much like last season when Picckett showed improvemts he did so against a bad team maybe even an awful one they had 4 sacks and 6 QB hits going into this game so they were not exactly gettting a ton of pressure on the QB. Yet they spent a lot of time in the Steelers backfield last night. At the half Tomlin said we were playing the run well and people will look at the fact it was Jacobs and go wow the D did a great job vs the run. Their run game is as bad as ours. As a team they came in avereging 2.4 a carry and Jacobs had a 1.6 ypc. They won the turnover battle 3-0 yet the game was in doubt in the 4th quarter.
Thanks for starting the thread NY. I only saw the first half of the game. I saw a that someone had a top ten pass rushers in the NFL and TJ Watt wasn’t even on it. Highsmith was 10 believe it or not and Parsons is 1. I want some of what he is taking.
If you don't have Watt in your top 10 you must have nothing but hate for him like maybe he stole your wife or something.
NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Prolific Dolphins hit No. 1 spot, while Browns and Packers crack top 10 add this to the Ugly. So they give the Browns #9 spot after losing to the Steelers who are @ #16, and the Ravens at #8 who just lost to the #28 Colts. Talk about someone being whack on crack. Then at #6 are the Cowboys who lost to the #25 Cardinals and they were just flat outplayed. Dak threw into triple coverage and Josh Dobbs shredded that invincible D that everyone jumped on the Hype Train. You have to base power rankings on who beat who and then who can beat whom. Both Jimmy Pretzel and DeShawn Molester Watson were harried and threw multiple picks. So they give Cleveland a pass for losing to Pittsburgh and Baltimore a pass for losing to Indy, but The Steelers get smacked for losing to the #2 ranked 49ers.
I am not one to say the refs stole the game, but it was a factor. Fitzpatrick went for the shoulder, Jimmy Pretzel dipped his head, it was not forcible contact. That changed the whole complexity of that drive and ended up being a 21 yard penalty since I think Pretzel Boy was 6 yards deep when Minkah trucked him. They did pick up the flag on Holcomb, same thing hit the shoulder not a head shot. Raiders never go in and get that TD to close the gap in my opinion without that horseshit call. Picket was hit in the head twice not flagrant but defenders made contact. To quote Rodney in Caddyshack "Keep it fair, keep it fair" as he slips the head of the caddies a C note. 21 yards was horrible, Tomlin played with house money, aka don't lose the game, but I get your point.
Good Morning Football talked about Watt. Former Giant offensive lineman Shaun O'Hara is very impressed with TJ's arsenal. Watt has been a factor in all 3 games, Steelers held Garret and Bosa in check and Parsons was a nonfactor vs. the Cardinals. Former NFL OL 'Mesmerized' By T.J. I have one question? If TJ kept up his pace of sacks all season and wound up with 51 of them, would the media still be on Paraons claiming him to be the best pass rusher in the league? I’m not suggesting that TJ will have 51 sacks, just wondering how Parsons is the hands down favorite for DPOY when he isn’t close to Watt, Garrett or N Bosa.
A lot of it has to do with his ability to be used all over the field. Yes the cowboys plays a factor in him gaining some attention but to say he isnt in those guys league is a stretch. The kid is good.
Well, I'm late to the show. The wife and I went backpacking for our 30th. The good: The D gets pressure and TOs. They do give up some yards but they get stops when needed(mostly). Pickens didn't score but still had a big play and put up yards. Austin and Freiermuth were good too. Nice deep pass on the Austin TD. Colts win and Minshew was at the Helm. Matt Gay was the real hero. The bad: coverage on Adams. No excuse not to blanket him deep on the 4th down. The PI on the 2 point conversion. The ugly: The call on Fitz. The ref on the broadcast said it was dumb too. Well, on to Texas. Hope it's three in a row.
