The Good: again with a loss not much going in the good pile but Freiermuth got his first Td so that gets a good.

Harris easily his best game and show ing more flashes of what is to come.

The Bad: take your pick there is plenty of it.
Drops (by some countqs there were 9) harris had 4 drops on his own but he was taking a pounding
Play calling how about on third and short you dont go long and when its 3rd and long dont go short.

Ugly: injuries both those going into the game and those we got during the game. The Steelers are not a very good team right now (sorry to offend those who only beat the steelers are great drum) they cannot afford injuries to key players.

Penalties guess the oline thought it was free tickets to the buffet to get a penalty. Hard to get the offense going when the you shoot yourself in the foot.

Browns win, Ravens win, and of course Bengals win

Coaching job after the Bills game there were several calling it Tomlins best coaching job ever. Well if you are going to crown him for that game you have slam nim for the 2 games since.

Belicheat is 8-11 post Brady. You can't win in this league with shitty QB play.

Question is if Bill were coaching the Steelers would Ben have been brought back this year? If he was still brought back do you think Bill would still be rolling with him or would he have moved to Rudolph. He moved on from cam pretty quick once it was apparent Cam couldnt help him.

If Ben is hurt sit him, don’t screw the team.

The allegiance to Ben has screwed them as of late. It hurts to cut the cord but after game 11 last year, he was done.

It might be like the 80s again when they had talent in some areas but no real Qb

I said it when it happened and I stand by it that the steelers should have moved on from Ben the moment his elbow went kaboom. I would have seen if there were any takes giving anything for him. If Ben balked and retired instead of being traded no big deal either way would have been better for the Steelers. There is no place in football for sentimental descions. They didnt do it with Hines and they didnt do it with Troy so why do it with Ben?

If we keep being sentimental we will have our pick of the QBs next draft.

They’re in last place in the division after that big win in Buffalo 2 weeks ago, SMH

Yes Ben stinks right now but only blaming him for what’s wrong with the offense is ludicrous, The OL is horrible, the receivers can’t get separation. The play calling is stale

I bet he would play and look a lot better in NE with Bellicheat

That very well may be true but this offense woulf also look a lot better if you had a qb that could use the entire field. Teams have no fear of the deep game from Ben and the middle of the field is a barren wasteland right now. Now claypoil says teams are taking away the middle but you have to ask why is it so easy to take away the middle? Are the dbs for the bengals, bills and raiders that good?

Harris has been hit at or behind the line of scrimmage on 70% of their running plays

Got some questions I would like to throw out for the Steelers board before I post some thoughts in the random opinion thread -

    1. What is the bigger reason for the failures in the run game. The play-calling or the offensive line?
    2. How much of the offensive struggles are on Ben?
    3. What would be the situation where you would bench Roethlisberger to start Rudolph, or is that not an option?
    4. What do you see as the weakest link in the offense and the defense?
    5. Is there a move that you would make this week to bolster the roster in the form of a trade or a free agent signing?

    1 oline isn’t opening much.

2 Ben is looking his age and the oline isn’t helping.

3 if we don’t score in the first quarter against the Packers make the switch.
4 oline on offense TJ Watt missing because injury. If he plays the last game and a half we our 3-0.

5 is anyone willing to trade a stud OT?

    1. If i had to choose i would go with the oline but only slightly. I think the line is not being helped by the playcalling but they need to perform bettter with what is called.
    2. I think ben is a huge part of the problem. If the oline was more experianced and if you had a top offense all around you can hide deficiencies of a quarterback a little bit but when your oline is bad and your offense is young its hard to hide a fading qb.
    3. As i said above ben should be gone and this should be rudolphs team so i already have ben benched and Mason in the lineup. If we still suck at least the you know what you have to do i the off season.
    4. As bad as the line is I think Ben is the weakest link in the offense as for the D its the injuries having watt back on the field alone would make big diffrences. Enough to have won the last two games? Not sure about that but with the entire D healthy maybe.
    5. I dont think there is a trade out there that could help because nobody is letting good oline guys go for cheap and the steelers cannot afford to give away top draft picks to aquire one a d its doubtful outside of a few key players youre getttin what you need in a player swap. I 100000% am not trading for watson as i have seen a few Steelers fans cry for. First and formost because he is about as toxic as a player can be right now. Why anyone would trade for him until all the legal stuff is cleared is beyond me. Secondly the price is way to high IMHO. As for free agents not sure whatmis out there but if there are some Oline guys you could grab just to add some veteran leadership on the oline could help. And as crazy as this one is maybe todd gurly or frank gore. Are they going to help you run game? Probably not much but id put them in and let them absorb the beating rather than getting najee killed in his first year. The amount they are using him is just plain stupid.

Ben has to realize that he isn’t what he used to be and retire. It was a great ride but the roller coaster is in need of repair.

Yeah not much else to do about the team this year. Typically I am pretty optimistic about the team and their chances. Even though it looks bad, still think there’s a chance the team rebounds this season. But there’s no debate that this last week was inexcusable and horribly frustrating and ugly. Even with the injuries, that game was nowhere near acceptable. Won’t put too much on the defense, but Ingram’s non wrap up on Boyd was ugly. Minkah had an alright game but also missed too many plays that a top tier safety (which he is) needs to make. As for Ben, I am really torn. He isn’t playing well enough, but I don’t think he’s close to being the biggest problem on this team. The OL is playing like garbage, and nobody short of Mahomes or maybe Josh Allen would do much better. Ben had one really bad miss to Washington, but he had pressure in his face. Still needs to make that throw but not going to bench him for that. Chuks sucks, Green isn’t playing very well, even Dotson has been below the line. I think a major problem is they didn’t play together at all in the offseason so they’re still working out the bugs, problem is their QB is getting killed, and their RB has to gain damn near every yard by himself. Like Jean said, this team just isn’t very good at the present time. It’s only week 4, so the season isn’t lost yet, but they need to get it working very quickly.

As for the middle of the field throws, or lack there of, I have to put a majority on that on Canada, not many routes in that part of the field. Need to scheme some people open, try some different concepts. Ben does need to hit on some deep shots to loosen the coverage, but he needs time to take a couple shots. Ebron has been pretty useless so far, he needs to stretch the middle. Juju needs to run more than short routes. Don’t need to go bombs away like under Arians, but they need to take more shots. Rudolph wouldn’t do any better, if the Steelers are going to win anything, Ben is the QB. If week 8 comes and they’re clearly out of it, sure bring in Rudolph and Haskins, and sit Ben down. But right now Ben gives the best chance.
