It was only for 1 year but i'll tell ya, its hard skating up and down the ice w/ no stick. thats what i tell myself for looking like a total goon in stripes out there.

i think the teams that had to deal w/ me are lucky too. they can now appreciate all good future officiating because Ive helped them see the other side.

LOL. i still scratch my head at how revered doc is by some. my positive spin on him is "it could be worse".

there are a lot of really bad radio people out there. ken kal of the wings has a vocal mannerism from hell. the lightning's play by play guy is certifiable. the avs team at one point were horrifyingly bad (maybe still are). the list is endless.

but i have an inherent distrust of radio announcers thanks to george blaha. he's the voice of the pistons and MSU football, and aside from making ken daniels look neither whiny nor biased, and aside from his rug which must have come from gene keady's people, he's a lowlife scumbag. years ago, before i had directv, and before i ceased to consider basketball a sport, i'm watching a pistons game on UHF. they have a main station in detroit, and then several more scattered throughout the state. here, north of canada, i'm in an area that can pull broadcasts from many locations. suddenly the screen goes black, and after a momentary silence, u hear george and partner patched thru on what sounds like a phone line. george apologizes for the technical difficulty and continues to call the game. i think hey maybe it's just this station, the main one, so i try another outstate station and bingo, there's the video. george doesn't realize some folk can still see the game, and proceeds to describe a shot by the other team that was halfway down and then popped back out as a "bad looking miss", and then an airball by a piston as "just a hair long".

as far as the waved off goal - i disagree with the call, but as a wings fan, i can only laugh when it happens to anyone else. in 10 years, the league's debt on homer might be paid off

and ya, the seabrook thing was bad.

As bad as Jack Edwards is, Goucher and Beers are great radio personalities. I try synching it w/ the Bruins games and mute the Edwards, but then I can't change channels and Im lazy. Still sometimes mute the Edwards anyways. No Edwards from here on out though. Hip hip, Hooray! Hip hip hooray!

lol, no argument there. I really like the Hawks play by play guy Wiedemen. He's excellent, Murray drags him I think.

lol, I know the wings have seen a few of those. I think it was a good goal too, but for the life of me, I can't figure out a rational way to expect the refs to catch the full play and make the correct call if it was clean. I could see them calling it a good goal for the wrong reasons though. So many skates, legs, bodies, the puck, moving pieces everywhere, etc. I think it would take a ref missing the skates in the blue paint or sneezing when the puck was in flight to call it a good goal.

 

I only meant the sound and rhythm. In no way, shape, or form did I mean to imply that I enjoyed Ken's content. Only that is was easier on the ears than most when there aren't complaints.

ya, ken is like a less-exaggerated jack edwards. his delivery is good, his content is bad. jack's delivery is even better, and his content's even worse.
