Thnx merc, too bad they couldn't have closed the deal. I get those questions sometimes too, falcons qb, lol.

thanks skinny. not sure the Bruins deserved to win that game or series, a great job from the Leafs.

I think 'Thank You Kessel' will now be laid to rest. Hoping the Bruins can move forward from this and take advantage of the opportunity. Seidenberg going down could be lethal for this team especially w/ Ference and Redden already on the shelf.

Hate to ever blame the refs because in the end it all evens out, but Im a little embarrassed at the non-call last night on the Bruins. More than a couple....and the call on Lupul was crazy, at least match him w/ Rask or the B's defenseman.

Stars fired Glen Gulutzan. I guess w/ a new GM he would want his own guy but I don't think Gulutzan can be blamed for that roster not playing in the post season.

There were so many to count, but that's the nhl for you, I've been dealing with this since as long as I could remember. The nhl officiating of all the big 4 sports is probably the worst and most incosistent. You'll never see in the nfl , where a pass int call won't be called because its the playoffs, only nhl does this, and maybe this is one of the reasons why it has problems attracting fans at times.

i get that skinny, at the same time i like that they don't call ticky tack stuff as much in the playoffs. consistency throughout the entire game is the most important thing and thats where the refs failed the other night. NHL refs don't hold a candle to the NBA when it comes to horrible officiating and deciding games.

  8. dassa fack, jack.

  9. lets keep this in perspective here, the NBA also doesnt have 14 linesman and 8 refs out there to make sure there isnt any fights. their definitely not out there to not miss calls and make the game clean

I don't take the nba seriously, so let's just compare the nhl to the nfl, and in that light, football isn't perfect, you could call hold almost every play if you really wanted. The point is, the refs don't shy away from calling a play at any time in the game like hockey, and it doesn't matter what's on the line.

The other night in boston, the last ten minutes looked like a scene out of slapshot at some points, elbow to the face, chara throwing down jvr, the water bottle being thrown on the ice, it was making a mockery of the game, and the refs just kept the whistles in their pockets, and the leafs had no answer for this, the were getting bullied around and the refs just let it happen, they didn't reltaliate and that's where they lost the game.

you can't let a team like the Bruins push your team around. if you respond to them physically, they usually calm down, or at least get back to PLAYING hockey. i've noticed when the Pens FIGHT it out with Boston, the Pens typically end up with the momentum and the Bruins get put back into their proper place... usually staring up at the Penguins' ball sack.

oh right. officiating: i generally don't have an issue with hockey refs, even when they miss a tackle or two. it usually balances out. the game is fast and i prefer to "let 'em play". my b!tching is usually reserved for the terrible play of the Penguins' goalies (which is Mt Vesuvius just waiting to happen) or stupid turnovers in their defensive zone (i'm looking at you SHREK!). i'll just sit back with my 6-pack of ice cold PBRs and let "the others" complain about the refs. GO PENS!!!

well, i see my boy, St Raffi "Triple Axel" Torres is facing the wheel again. man, that guy gets picked on so much. he should just offer to wash Shanny's car every weekend for a month.

  14. i'm thinking he should offer to clean something more personal than his car.

    septic tank?

  16. let me quote 2 of my favorite movie characters:

George: Let me tell you a secret, baby ? there are easier things in this world, if you, uh? happen to be teaching at a university, there are easier things than being married to the daughter of the president of that university. There are easier things in this world.
Martha: It should be an extraordinary opportunity. For some men, it would be the chance of a lifetime.
George: There are, believe me, easier things in this world.
Martha: Some men would give their right arm for the chance!
George: Alas, Martha, in reality, it works out that the sacrifice is of a somewhat more private portion of the anatomy.

nope, didn't mean his septic tank :)

now thats a hand full....or glove, both are equally happy Im sure

  18. I think I need my blade sharpened, now that I got the bad joke of the week out of the way

  19. Skinny I agree with you, NHL refs don't usually have the balls to make big calls late in big games. That has been going on for years and nothing will ever change I don't think... it is what it is. Look at the Wings second last game I think? Wasn't it Perry that tripped the Wings player right in front of the ref no more then 12 or 15 feet away? S.J scores a huge goal on that play.. nobody cared.

BUT.. to be completely honest there is no way in hell the Leafs should have blown a 2 goal lead with less then 2 minutes left in game 7 of the playoffs. They need to revamp that defense man... and fast !!!! Poor Reimer didn't even get to see the last 3 goals the Bruins scored in regulation. It was a shame the Leafs didn't get to the second round of the playoffs, especially since they would have had home ice advantage against the Rangers. Not saying they would beat the Rangers 4 times but I would much rather see a Leafs/Rangers 2nd round series then watch Boston play them.

The collapse is on the leafs, they blew it, no doubt about it. Just saying that the refs by not calling anything stand the chance at letting the game get out of hand, and , leave the players confused as to what will and will not be called, because, there's been many times where they have called a penalty, and you don't want to be that player in the box, when your team's on the pk, and you cost your team the game.
