The Ditch part deux

  1. Cutter I understand what you're saying. And I'm not saying that a commissioner isn't responsible for anything that goes wrong or that he shouldn't be held accountable and responsible for his actions. But what I what I am saying is until at least ONE commissioner in any of the major sports I mentioned is actually praised for doing a good job I have a difficult time believing that people are being fair. I think it's impossible that ALL of the commissioners in every major sport in North America suck. That's all...

  2. I just noticed I was compared to Hernandez, cmon 69 were better than that. next time at the post Ill buy you a beer *DRINK*

.....but Bettman still sucks my ball sac

  3. I actually think that other than the personal decisions NFL players are making on their own time I think Goodell has done a decent job. same with Selig other than how he let the steroid thing go on for so long, but theres testing in place now and the party is over for the cheaters. And the steroid stuff started before the league was on his watch so Eddie Shore, pinetar and vaseline aside those werent his fault. the tie All Star Game was also a joke but who really cares about the ASG. I noticed you brought up Stern.....well that league breeds moron commissioners and I refuse to acknowledge the ESPNBA even exists so moot point there

  4. Super Bowl in London= bad idea

but so does having a Winter Classic in LA, not to mention instead of just having one per year lets have 6 so the novelty wears off quicker. all about money, not the game - see above pic

oh, how it sucks to be back in steamy sweaty NYC. did everyone miss me?

a very belated congrats to the Hawks fans, but just to set the record straight, i was gonna say the Hawks in 6. if you don't believe me, just ask Tom. i see PIGFACE is headed out west. i'm gonna miss typing "F**K IT UP PIGFACE" in the cbs glogs more than miss him as a player although he is a scrappy hustler.

thank you Cutter for Putin's pin, that was very helpful... he basically paid for my vacation... and then some. i also see AA has made his way over. i had a lot of catching up to do. i haven't read so much in one go since ... uh... er... trust me it's been a long time.

  6. HA HA. NOT "comparing" you to Hernandez Cutter. Just said you wanted to "pull a Hernandez" on me....

Honestly though if you respect Selig and you like Goodell and Bettman is the only commissioner you despise then I can accept your hate for Gary a lot more then I can most of the haters.

  7. WELCOME BACK HALO *YAHOO*

  8. At the risk of sounding like a pretentious know-it-all sabermetrician, pitcher wins stat is teh suck.

  9. Yeah, but he's still a weasel.

  10. wb frank, what did u bring us?

    cutter, here's my gary scorecard:

    brett hull goal - guilty

shootouts, 3 point games - deeply suspicious

    lockouts - nope, not him.

he's much more than a figurehead, but he still IS a figurehead.

max is having a denny mclain season. he's getting mad run support and not doing anything to eff that up. more power to him.

no commissioner has ever embarrassed his sport more than bud selig with his ceremonial first "pitch".

  11. Over the last five years or so the best commissioner in the four major North American sports has been Bud Selig. That should tell you something *SCRATCH*

  12. ditto, and Lulz you need to get some more lead for your pencil - thats not even close *WRITE*

Florida and Tampa aren't going anywhere for this CBA and probably not the next one either.
Karmanos sold off a big chunk of his team and holds a majority share still. The next owner won't want to pay off the minority group until the asset appreciates further.

Hartford was dead before it ever joined the NHL. It will fail again if they try. The market is already saturated and there is little room for growth with so many teams in the NY area and Boston.

Fans only matter as it relates to revenue. Easier to get revenue outside of the gate in U.S. markets.

Jury still out on how strong WPG is and it will be a half decade to know how sustainable Quebec is to every other market.

This is the evil, Gary is just the (effective) lawyer:

    Lol, well said.

I'm still waiting for my apologies for all my Shanahan bashing before he was even close to being hired. I'll just wait. I guess they can get in line behind the "Bolland is not that good and certainly not important" crowd that tried to Un-internet me.

Gary was engineered from Eddie Shore DNA...the good side.

  16. so Hartford is a saturated market Bob but Florida isnt? they have two freakin teams there and they dont even get snow!!Michigan, Illinois or even Minnesota if anyone should have two - not Florida. thats just retarded period. before everyone pisses themselves Im not saying those are both Bettmans fault but theres no excuse for that. Bettman does have the ability to make recommendations to the BOG that I think when he wields it swings a heavy stick(no pun intended of course)

Welcome back Frank. Shero has 30+ million tied up on 4 players for 2015. Congrats.

Dipietro is avaiable with TT to be a new Pittsburgh backup goalie too.

  18. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Florida is moist but not saturated. Hartford's market has too much overlap, they'll get crushed and won't get the big local bucks that they would need to operate.

Miami and TB have huge populations. Michigan won't support another franchise well and Illinois/Wisconsin can't either. Besides the Blues have downstate Illinois. Even Ilitch would destroy another competing franchise.

It's very good that you're not saying they're Gary's fault, because then you would get this guy:

The first casualty of STL penny-pinching is Russel. He's an RFA too. Hit waivers today, he would have been a very good 7th or 8th dman on that roster if they are making a serious run this year.

I'm guessing they were pushing a 2-way contract on him or only a marginal raise. He's nothing special, but their system doesn't look too hot at the blueline.

Looks like Armstrong really wants to keep Leopold. Good news for Chicago.

  20. you may be right on Hartford but I disagree on florida. weve beat this horse too many times, you love him I hate him blah blah blah

how did you get the Hulk - thats awesome. Lulz give you access to some extra smileys?
