Nonis went in the dumpster with that move.

Trotz, about Weber and Seth Jones being right handed shots. "duh, it will be hard to pair them."

  3. rediiis Guest

Gillis is safe for now, although Frankie Aquilino is involved

If I saw two scaredicats, it would be feaster and gillis in the west (phx doesn't count)...Snow and Nonis in the East.

Bolland is entertaining Skinny, and Randy "sweaty heads concuss people" Carlyle will love him.

Expect 2 droughts of less than 2 goals over 20 games or 2 extended trips to IR and a few highlight real games that make all the meatballs forget about most of the season.

He's a "big game" player as long as you constantly adjust the criteria of what a "big game" is.

Moments like this make me think I might be able to coach better than I thought against some of those guys.

I think so, but there's no way Bolland can have a year as bad as last year...right?
He was married last year and blew off his training. I'm sure moving his spouse and moving back to Canada won't mess up his offseason. Spouses love uncertainty and changes. He and Kessel should get along famously until that Seguin trade for Phil goes through.

Wings made a pitch for Edler.

That's a guy and a contract that would be great for Detroit. I wonder what the offer was. Gillis about 2 years too late to get himself a mule.

    I heard nyquist and a pick...didn't work.

  8. Can't be sure but I read somewhere the Canucks wanted a 1st round pick and 2 roster players for Edler. I also read that Nyquist might have been one of the roster players they asked for. Maybe Brenden Smith was another one.....

I really like Edler a lot, honestly I do !!! And I love his 5 million dollar cap hit.... no problem with that at all. But if it's going to take Nyquist or Smith to get the job done I don't think Kenny makes the trade.

  9. I honestly thought somebody with cap space would have committed considerably more then 4 years and 16 million to Bickell. Not saying he's worth more because based on his career numbers so far he's probably not worth more then 2.5 or 3 million max....but I'm surprised he didn't wait until Friday to see what's out there. But that said I think that contract works for Chicago because in a stupid way it's probably below market value. I don't even know what I just said. If somebody can explain what I typed to me I'd appreciate it. LOL

I also think the Jets got a great deal picking up Frolik for a 3rd and 5th and think he'll fit in very nicely in Winnipeg. He's a good player who's going to get plenty of ice time and PP time in Winnipeg. The Jets needed more offensive depth and they got it with Frolik. Plus 2.5 million dollars is peanuts in this league for a good player and he's under team control after next season too.

  10. Not too late, I'd give up the mule for Edler right now. *YES*

Problem is Edler's NTC just kicked in at midnight on July 1st. So any trade now needs his consent.

What's up with Gillis always waiting too long to trade people?

lol, well said and your point may be spot on. I can see a strong argument there.

Clowe, Horton, Clarkson, etc. will let us know on Friday.

Too much credit/blame given to individual playoff runs.

Bowman is now a genius and ballsy. Finally a counter to the large group that called him overwhelmed, chicken-Sh@@ of making a trade, etc.

Bickell is Chicago's greatest playoff beast since Byfuglien or Bolland...cough, couch, gag.

Wonder how the discussion changes if Crawford doesn't make one of those late game 7 saves against Detroit.
Regular season results do not get enough emphasis.

I have one more thing to say.

    "Compete level"

I think that will be my new screen name if I signin to new sites. Pierre will be my avatar.

Souds like Bickell has owned up to the challenge...and he sure had a nice run in the playoffs, but I do agree with you. Maybe things are completely different if the Hawks dont advance past Detroit. Tough to project what will happen next season based on a hot performance in the playoffs imo. Its just a gamble.

  14. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Bickell was a 2004 draft pick.
The team of Mike Smith doing the scouting and the draft pick of Pulford.

I just wanted to clear that up in case we see another quote by Tallon claiming or implying responsibility for drafting Bickell. LeBrun already gave him a chance to do that once this year.

  15. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Good luck tomorrow Matty. Bobbi makes a great girl's name. Whether it be for a ditchly poster like myself or the old number 4 of the Blackhawks (might have played with the Bruins before that), Bob or Bobbi works.

It's not even my name but if I could go back and name myself, I would find it a worthy name.

Speaking of things Bruins, it appears the Seguin rumors were just Chiarelli's way to tell young Tyler to quit being a deutchbank and start being a professional.

  16. No doubt everything changes if the Crawford doesn't make one of those late game 7 saves against the Wings. Fans can be real funny about things like that. Suddenly you would be hearing about how "Crow got outplayed by Howard", "Q got out coached by Babcock", "Bickell isn't worth 2 million dollars" and unless they extend the NHL to 12 rounds and it's the 10th, 11th and 12th picks we're talking about Bolland wouldn't be worth 3 draft picks in a trade in his dreams... not even the Leafs would have made that trade.

The regular season is an 82 game grind but in the end it's amazing how much emphasis is put on the playoffs. Google "Hawks trade Byfuglien" and go to the TSN link. There is probably 50 pages of comments by fans many of which talk about how the Hawks will now wait another 40 years for a cup, the Canucks are a "shoe-in" for the finals and the Thrashers are now a dangerous team. LOL

  17. Bruins need to create some cap space fairly quickly so if you look at it that way trading Seguin makes sense. The flip side of that coin is he'll never get anything close to equal or market value in return so I doubt Chiarelli makes a move like that.

I'm no Boston fan but I think Chiarelli is pretty darn good at what he does. I'll be very surprised if he trades Seguin....

I'll be less surprised if he doesn't just go to arbitration with Rask and let him go after a year before he pays him. Here's a recent quote by Chiarelli on Rask which to me says a lot. Or maybe I'm reading it wrong?

?You?d like to get everything done quickly. I don?t know if I?ll have that luxury, but certainly I?ll try just so you have your certainty on your team and cap and all that,? said Chiarelli. ?He?s obviously had a terrific playoff, and we?d like to get him done as soon as we can.?

Chiarelli mentions wanting some certainty on the cap and Rask's performance in the playoffs this year. But he doesn't talk about Rask being a franchise goalie or their goalie of the future or even guarantee it gets done like some GM's do. I think he chose his words very carefully. And careful is what Tuukka should be right now too. Because when goalies get greedy it doesn't always work out long term

  18. never underestimate the leafs' capacity for stoopid.

  19. OK... my bad !! Maybe the Leafs weren't a great example. I was actually surprised they didn't give up two future number 1 picks for Bolland.

  20. are u sure they had any left? maybe they wanted to, but had already traded them all away :)
