If you guys beat the Bengals you could have lost possibly 6 draft spots depending on tiebreakers.

    Reasonable expectations:
would it be reasonable to expect one if not both of our star recievers is out/limited at season's start?
would it be reasonable to expect our O line will be mediocre at best?
would it be reasonable to expect we lose one of our 2 superior RBs
would it be reasonable to expect to lose 2 LBs (Shoebert, Kirksey)
would it be reasonable to expect we are still not secure at Safety

Frankly, reasonable and Cleveland don't often appear together in the same sentence, so...... you got me.

    Frankly this list is unreasonable.
Both WRs should be expected to miss at least half the season
Your oline shouldn't be as good as mediocre
You should lose both of your RBs
You don't have another LB to lose?
You should let all safeties walk

Dam those requirements narrow your coaching search down to Hue Jackson.

You guys might be able to coax Rich Kotite out of retirement.

    Reasonable Expectation #1

Haslam & DePodesta are making the decisions on HC & GM.
    Man the lifeboats!

    Expectation #2
With a new GM/HC, Baker is about to get his 3rd playbook in 3 years, and no longer has his GM.
Whoever becomes the new top tandem will look at Baker differently, and will place demands on him, both on and off field.
If I'm coming in, I'd build around the run game, and work my young QB hard on reading Ds, and finding the short routes. Let the big plays come out of that, instead of making 20 plus yard passing plays the norm. Learn how to drive the field, and take shots when they are there.

That requires upgrading the O line, or maybe just upgrading the O line coaching (Corbett starts in LA).

Corbett only started in LA due to attrition. Also, let me remind you Greg Robinson also started for the Rams. ;)

This season was such a train wreck from a coaching standpoint that player/talent evaluation is difficult.

Analytically, the Browns offensive line had a very good season. Their win-rate was Top 15, which included the best center and guard in the game. The QB hits allowed stat could seem to corroborate that:

Their run blocking was actually pretty dismal, meaning Chubb was even more impressive as an afterthought on offense.

In fact, with the exception of right guard, they returned 4 out of 5 of their starters from 2018 when the line was #2 overall on the season (and #1 over the final eight games). It's tough for me to think that they dropped off tremendously in talent from a year ago, so it's more likely that they were not a fit with the offensive system Kitchens and Monken were trying to install.

I don't know if he's interested or not, but if so, we should consider hiring Joe Thomas to coach up the O-line. He is as astute about today's NFL as anyone, and I think he'd be outstanding in that capacity.

While John Dorsey was telling the world about the potential of Andrew Corbitt to play both Guard and Tackle in the NFL, Joe Thomas was almost simultaneously telling the world on his podcast that Corbitt will NEVER have the feet to play OT in the NFL, as well as voicing his concern about how effective the kid could play on the interior.

At the time, I didn't want to hear it. Never forgot it though, and now it's looking like JT was all over that......

It's a new year, so I might as well get it on record; Worse case scenario in 2020, we go 8-8. ;)

If you guys could redo the 2018 draft would you kick Baker to the curb and take Lamar?

Amazing hindsight that you think you have gid. You realize that you are the definition of troll right now, right?

  18. gidion72 Legend Steelers

Not trolling. I wish the Steelers would have picked him instead of Edmunds.

    Nope.

I would have done something differently at #33, though.

I thought Mason "Dixon Line" Rudolph was going to be the savior? What happened to that?
