Gideon, its not a mock, its simply talent evaluation and the notion that this D is not better on D overall is not absurd, most defensive players i feel are more accomplished than their offensive counter parts at the higher level of play i.e. top 10 dl vs top 10 wr , i feel the dlmen are more consistent in technique- but how the league assesses their worth is a different matter altogether

My call: Barr is better than Clowney, I've already said as much a while back. I also think Bridgewater >Mariotta>Hundley>Boyd> Carr>Murray>McCarren.

I like Tuitt over Nix and Van Noy is about 55 spots too low. Khalid Mack would look good next to Timmons

Question for you guys. When did James Harrison start playing for the Saints....?

Yes, that was on the "game-winning" TD pass that has vaulted Brady to legendary status again.

Which reciever would you guys rather have: Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans? Recent depth chart moves and injuries have resulted in WR looking like the team's top offseason need, with Sanders set to go into free agency and Cotchery a likely re-sign because he's the only veteran. Then, however, the top receivers would be Brown, Cotchery, and Wheaton. We would still really need a long-term perimeter receiver on the outside, and both Watkins and Evans look to be more than capable of handling that role.

Ben likes bigger receivers but has seldom had one who could play throughout his career. If Haley is still OC in 2014, I wonder what he would want. My guess is bigger = better with Haley since he's worked with Larry Fitzgerald and Dwane Bowe, although Brown is having a career year in 2013. Watkins is very talented and at 6'1" isn't exactly a shrimp, but the 6'5" Evans obviously has the size advantage.

One thing to caution about Evans is that he's a late riser largely based on one game performance against Alabama, who doesn't have nearly the DB talent they had in years past. I look at Keenan Allen who was a late faller but has so far proven to be a gem with the Chargers, which would explain why he was a first-round prospect this time last year.

Watkins still has my vote, but Evans intrigues with his skill set too.

    Demo

I think the safe WR is Marquisse Lee . To get Watkins the steelers will have to lose 13,games JMFO

    beach,

there was an article a few years back where Kuntybunch said he never got prefferencial treatment, yeah about that.......

LMK if you have any photos of Ben getting smacked in the head/facemask, in front of a ref, with this flag still stuck in his [del]pocket[/del] ass.

Don't get me wrong. I for one don't want a "safe" receiver by any means. We would have at least two "safe" receivers on the 2014 roster regardless.

If our biggest needs are CB, WR, and OG (which by my calculations they are based on recent personnel moves), would it behoove us to take an great playmaker at the only one of those positions for which it makes sense at 10th overall? I'd say so. OT isn't as big a need as some want to believe, and no one here wants Lewan anyway. What else could we possibly do at 10th overall besides Kouandijo, whose stock has been slipping?

@10 I already said Watkins is the call
I'll stand by that unless Barr is still sitting there

Also to me Purifoy or roby @ 10 will not be BPA

Yeah the refs turn a blind eye towards Roethlisberger because of his toughness, brady on the other hand gets the other team penalized if they fart in his general direction.

YOu know what is really messed up in this country? A mom, head of a family of self-entilted annoying bitches, ho-ing themselves on tv, hawking every product they can get thier hands on. How did they turn out like this? Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

You see it all the time, a player tosses a ball up to a kid, everyone claps and the kid never forgets it. IT makes everyone feel good right? NOPE, not the head Kuntrashian it's all about her and her kuntlings. She grabs the baseball right out of the hands of a little girl then has the balls to high fve someone over her conquest. Worst mom on the planet, period, and this includes Casey Anthony.

Our old home, with Dane Bugphuccer and Rob Rang, both have Pittsburgh @ 6, and both taking Anthony Barr. Trust me, it's the right call. Sure Pittsburgh just drafted Jaris Jones, Woodley and Timmons are under contract, but......... you need playmakers to create turnovers, Barr is the guy. NObody says you can't move him inside either, or JOnes for that matter, put your best players on the field, find a way to make it happen. LeBeau once said, "we have to find a way to get 92 on the field, that was his refference to James Harrison. with Farrior, Foote, Gildon, and Porter on the roster at the time.

Watched a lot of the Louisville vs UCF game...

Liked Bridgewater.. Kid can throw and direct the offense.. Is he the #1 pick overall? I dont think so.. but a top ten pick - yes..

Was impressed with the 2 RB's - Storm Johnson from UCF and D.Brown from the Cards...

S.Johnson - looked like a bigger back that can make defenders miss.. Brown not so big but can cut in the hole...

Going to Pitt vs Old Domin tonight...

    enjoy,

    one of the idiots

What do you guys think of Jernigan DT/NT from FSU?

Also of the WR's I would choose, I would pick Evans, we need a little variation in size. Evans is real good at getting off of press coverage too, doesn't have blazing speed, but can go up and get the ball.

A Wade Phillips NT, a third-down NT for us. There are enough heavy NTs this year for me to not give him much of a look. Da'Quan Jones, PSU is one of my favorites in the country. Either NFLDraftScout just isn't paying attention to him or his stock is somehow really stagnant, because their big board is such that I've been able to slot Jones as our third-round comp pick for weeks now.

Speaking of which, this is how my mock looks now:

    1. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
    2. Cyril Richardson, OG, Baylor
    3. Da'Quan Jones, NT, Penn State
    4. A.J. Johnson, ILB, Tennessee
5A. Rashaad Reynolds, CB, Oregon State
    5B. Sean Hickey, OT, Syracuse
    6. Marqueston Huff, FS, Wyoming
    7. Karlos Williams, RB/S, Florida State

UDFA. Chris Watt, OG, Notre Dame
UDFA. Will Clarke, DE, West Virginia

This took need into account more than my last mock, which was strict BPA based on how I felt the Steelers would draft. This is more preferential.

  16. Florida the #1 defense in the SEC? Yeah okay. That secondary of theirs got torched, that would've been a lot worse for them if it wasn't Maty Mauk's first start. Easley had a good day pass rushing but they drove that line up and down the field in the run.

Purifoy did not impress me at all, neither did Roberson. DGB and L'Damian Washington were open all game. Speaking of which, Washington has been making plays all year, better than Dorial Green-Beckham stats wise.

Michael Sam is a guy I'm really starting to love, his stock should be rising. Florida had no answer for him and he was in Florida's backfield all game. Him and Kony Ealy have been great this year. Looks like a guy that will go from DE in college to 3-4 OLB in the NFL.

  17. Put me on board with Watkins or Lee. This offense needs playmakers and both are that. Doesn't Watkins return too?

  18. demolisher43 Franchise Player Steelers

It seems like most of the SEC is being taken down a notch this season. I know die-hard SEC fans who do nothing but brag about the conference, so I have to say it's a cool sight to see.

The Steelers shouldn't ever look at Florida corners. Of all things about our defense, the coverage schemes and defender placements are hardest to master. The Florida defense is so different from ours it might have taken Joe Haden at least two years to look decent in our scheme, and lesser Florida corners 3-4 years. Purifoy and Roberson have both been overrated for a while.

Watkins has returned kicks, but he wasn't ever that good at it. I'd like to see him try it in a preseason, but I wouldn't be expecting much.

  19. Yeah the SEC is definitely down this year, I think it's ironic the two teams trending up the most are the new comers but of course all the SEC fanboys will just use that to further talk about how awesome their conference is. Never understood rooting for a conference, that's like rooting for teams you are supposed to dislike and be rivals with to win any time you don't play them.

After that great point about the Florida corners. Purifory is not Joe Haden either so he's on my don't draft list.
