before I go into work, watching WVU vs. OK State. I saw some real good CB play by Justin Gilbert, 3rd round rated CB with some size. He held inside position, sheilded off the WR, and made real nice hands catch, extending himslef. I Like this kid as a fit for Pittsburgh.

Tonight taping Ohio State vs. Wisconsin. The way the Steelers suck so far, Roby is a top ten pick they might look at. CBlowEss has us drafing 7th, Rang has us taking Kuandjio, Needledick has us taking Matthews. Barr is off the board. *NO*

Barr is universally a top-5 player on just about every draft board. I knew he was great last year, but I didn't think he'd climb this high. Some have him in competition with Clowney for being the top defender. He's an OLB in any scheme. I guess he reminds people of Von Miller.

To slap us with an OT speaks of universal ignorance regarding the state of the Steelers. We need OT depth, absolutely, but unless all of our other options are exhausted I think it might be a waste of past draft picks. Adams is getting better and Gilbert can be better. They just need stability and health and we just need patience. Roby is a better pick considering our CB situation. For the sake of our needs, I hope we improve and at least end up picking in the teens.

report on Ohio State, Wiscons, No thanks to Braxton Miller, he threw some nice passes to guys WIDE open, he has touch, not sure about NFL zip to throw the outs, etc.., Love the kid Carlos Hyde , he's a beast. I have to be honest on Roby, tough game, and quite Frankly Abbrederis owned his azz. Speaking of which, his stock has to go way up. The Sophomore QB , Stave, has some nice throws in traffic, more of an NFL prospect than the athletic Miller, JMFO. you want a guy to play ST and do whatever it takes to win games, undersized Borland is your man. That kid just gets it and hits it. I mean he hit Hyde and just stopped him cold. Ryan Shazier, was easily blocked more than a few times, did make his splash plays but I think he is a late second rounder because he's a tweaner.

Although he's undersized, love the play of the Freshman CB for Wiscy, Shojourn Shelton was pretty solid. I also liked the DL play of Ohio State, specifically Adolphus Wasington, the dude is quick off the ball. If I'm a 4-3 team looking for a disruptive DT, he's got some upside in a few drafts.

Watched the WKU vs. Navy game.

Not to sure what to take away from it. I can't figure out if Navy is good or has just played bad teams. After scoring over 90 points in it previous two games Navy was held to a single touchdown (made on their first possession)

Against a triple option it seemed that the WKU defense was extremely disciplined

MLB Andrew Jackson- Showed great instincts and brutally hit the Navy Quarterback Reynolds cleanly (so hard it looked as if the QB suffered whiplash). Reynolds didn't return. He showed above average communication skills, and very good instincts and tackling ability in this game. The triple offense really tested the discipline of the defense and tended to use Jackson as the key read. (7 tackles no whiffs)

S Jonathon Dowling- 4 tackles as the center fielder he was the deepest player on each play. He had one interception in the 3rd quarter and several passes defensed (around 4 if I recall correctly)

RB Antonio Andrews- 32 carries for 182 yards (5.7 ypc) and 2 touchdowns behind a line that wasn't giving him much room (from what I can recall) and a Navy Defense that was keying on him as the motor that makes the WKU offense work. Made most of his yards after contact and looked more like the real deal than I have seen in previous games. At 6' 219 he lowers his pads and finished the run, had to be group tackled throughout the game. 5 receptions for 35 yards.

I know that these players are not going (unless something changes) to be drafted until the 4th round but I think that they will be solid contributors at the NFL level.

watching the replay tomorrow, UConn vs. Buffalo, Khalil Mack went off I heard. UConn will be firing Paul Pascaloni (sp?) they have talent, leadership/coaching is inadequate.

Next year will kill me if the Steelers are still bad, considering I'm retiring at the end of the year at a young 62. I'm going through the Social Security and pension process now. If I work 1 day next year I get my 26 vacation days and 5 sick days. Since I just turned 62, that was the biggest reason to work about 4 more months. Also, I want to make sure I get the money I put into SS before Bama blows up everything.....There will still be the Penguins games I can watch and don't have to worry about the alarm buzzing to get up for work. Ahhh, it's gonna be nice, I hope?

I effed up my retirement plans, I'll be 66 years and 10 months in 12 years, 2 months, and 17 days. Then I want a SMALL one level house, with a walk out basement, stairs are already killing me.

Just heard Saban suspended Clinton-Dix indefinately. Saban said he violated team rules.

To tell you the truth, I watched Dix and was not saying, WOW, best safety in the draft. He did not wow me, now his stock has to take at least a full round hit.

The free safety that impressed me as an early pick, was the kid out of USC, Dion Bailey. I still like that SS out of Washington State, Deone Buchannon, that kid can play in the NFL.

Watched bama thought the same, infact i think he looked worse than mark barron but then again it was just one game and i saw an awful lot of barron.

as for USC- i havent watched them yet and will dothis week BUT USC defenders leave a bad taste in my mouth...they are fundementally average and are not pro ready, they are absurdly athletic though for the most part...

just a little comment pertianing to caution which im sure you are aware of but still, fuck USC.

I think the hype and athleticism of Taylor Mays has us shell shocked. But Matt Barkley, I called that one miles away. If you crossed Sanchez and Clausen. You'd have Barfley including the effed up shoulder. The blond mop complete with the "just pumped the neighor's cat " smirk.

Maryland and FSU, looking good. Also recording Clemson-Syracuse and then Ohio St. vs. Northwestern. Diggs for Marlyand is a top talent, FSU has got some young talent in the secondary.
