Here is my 53 man roster: QB (3) Ben Roethlisberger, Landry Jones, Josh Dobbs No surprises here. RB (4) Le'Veon Bell, James Conner, Knile Davis, Roosevelt Nix I'm sure some want Watson over Davis, but I do not see that happening. WR (6) AB, Bryant, Eli Rogers, Smith-Shuster, Coates, DHB. I feel Hunter should be the sixth receiver, but based on the lack of playing time I think DHB edges him out. Ayers, Hamilton will be battling it out for the PS. TE (3) James, McDonald, Johnson With the addition of McDonald, Grimble is expendable. Johnson spot is anything but secure but I think he beats out McGee. OL (9) Villanueva, Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert, Finney, Hubbard, Hawkins, Feiler Hopefully the top 5 stay healthy. Finney and Hubbard have shown to be capable backups, but not a lot of confidence in either of the last two guys. DL (6) Heyward, Tuitt, Hargrave, Alualu, Walton, Maxey There is still a competition for the 6th and final spot between Hooks and Maxey, but I think they go with Maxey. OLB (5) Watt, Harrison, Dupree, Moats, Chickillo No real surprises, some are saying either Moats or Chickillo but I think both make the 53 ILB (4) Shazier, Williams, Matakavich, Fort This one I think Fort edges out Steven Johnson for the last spot. CB (6) Burns, Haden, Gay, Sensabaugh, Hilton, Sutton With the signing of Haden, Cockrell might be headed to the unemployment line. S (4) Mitchell, Davis, Golden, Dangerfield I really wanted to leave off Golden, but there is just no one that is on the roster that will be taking that spot. I can still hope there is a waiver wire signing that can push him off but I am not predicting those. K (1) Boswell P(1) Berry LS (1) Holba PS (10) Watson, Grimble, Allen, Hooks, Dashaun Phillips, Kelsey, Ayers, Cooper, Milhalik, Galambos There is my 53 + practice squad. Thoughts?
Justin isn't making the team because he cant play special teams so that's why DHB will be over him. Justin has 4 special teams snaps in his nfl career.
Yeah, that's why DHB was on my roster. But Hunter made a late push for the final spot tonight, still likely comes up short though.
My 53 Wish List QB (2) Ben Roethlisberger, Landry Jones RB (4) Le'Veon Bell, James Conner, Knile Davis, Terrell Watson FB (1) Roosevelt Nix WR (6) Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant, Eli Rogers, John (Ju Ju) Smith-Shuster, Sammie Coates, Justin Hunter TE (3) Jesse James, Vance McDonald, Xavier Grimble OL (9) Alejandro Villanueva, Ramon Foster, Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, Marcus Gilbert, BJ Finney, Chris Hubbard, Jerald Hawkins, Matt Feiler DL (6) Cameron Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Jason Hargrave, Tyson Alualu, LT Walton, Daniel McCullers OLB (5) TJ Watt, James Harrison, Bud Dupree, Arthur Moats, Anthony Chickillo ILB (4) Ryan Shazier, Vince Williams, Tyler Matakavich, LJ Fort CB (6) Artie Burns, Joe Haden, Mike Hilton, Cameron Sutton, William Gay, Brian Allen S (4) Anthony Mitchell, Sean Davis, Robert Golden, Jordan Dangerfield K (1) Boswell P(1) Berry LS (1) Holba
Maybe, maybe not. He's flashed some potential but has been incredibly inconsistent. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised either way.
Apparently a lot of teams are rolling with just two QBs: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-the-league-going-with-just-two-quarterbacks/
Steelers have said in the past they prefer to carry 3. Not to say they will never change, but I personally think as long as they have an injury prone QB they will continue to go with 3. To be honest I'd be more on board with only keeping 2 on the roster if all 53 got to dress for the games. As of now the 3rd QB isn't taking a helmet from a skill player on game day.
I like the 3 QB's because I believe it helps the QB meetings and their take on the sideline. I am a believer of having more minds and eyes. Just because you have a great QB doesn't mean he can see everything or is the only creative mind. Some may say that's what coaches are for but having people that are in the field or who are actually practicing adds more weight to what decisions are made. Plus I think Dobss isn't ready this year but can be in the future. Having Landry is a must right now.
Per Steelers.com The Steelers announced their practice squad on Sunday, and they are all familiar faces who were waived when the team reduced their roster to 53 players. The team signed nine players, while agreeing to terms with one other. Teams are permitted to sign a maximum of 10 players to the practice squad. On offense the Steelers signed center Kyle Friend, tight end Jake McGee, running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and wide receiver Marcus Tucker. They also agreed to terms with wide receiver Justin Thomas. Defensively the team signed linebacker Matt Galambos, safety Jacob Hagen, defensive end Lavon Hooks, linebacker Farrington Huguenin and cornerback Dashaun Phillips.
From what I understand they are high on Tucker's ability as a receiver and a kick returner....I am glad to see him on the practice squad.
Just traded for JJ Wilcox. Gave them the 6th round pick they got back from the Browns and picked up Wilcox and a 7th round pick.
Good article on Wilcox who became expendable when they signed TJ Ward... http://www.tampabay.com/sports/foot...o-gerald-mccoy-you-might-be-surprised/2335936 Since all the key starters got Thursday night off, I stopped to ask Gerald McCoy who had gone unnoticed publicly and impressed him in training camp. His answer? "One person I can say is J.J. Wilcox," McCoy said of the free-agent safety, signed in March. "He dominated camp. I don't know if y'all talked about it much, but he dominated camp. We tally up some things on the defensive end and see who's doing this, and J.J. was winning by a landslide. They'll find a way to get him out there. He's that type of guy. If I had to say one guy, it'd be him."
According to Aaron Wilson he received his 1M roster bonus when he signed. So he is only counting 2.125M against the cap in 2017 and he has 1M in incentives.
How how HOW can you not pull for this kid? ^ Great story man. He led all receivers with 5 catches and a little under 100 yards in last preseason game. Each of his 5 catches below:
It's official: http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/09/steelers-trade-s-j-j-wilcox/ We just signed JJ Wilcox
Hahah sorry Mex, I just saw this post from you. Didn't realize when reading Beach's posts that he was already signed .... should have looked one post further up in this thread before checking other sites and posting all this stuff about wilcox
