One of the really good ones. Awesome guy, really good football player. And one tough son of a bitch. It was sad to see the way his life declined with the illness. Dude was full of life. So glad he lived long enough to make it into the Hall.
Really sad for anyone to have to suffer for years with ALS as he did. If anything it's good he's no longer suffering. As you said I'm really happy he lived long enough for the hall induction. Hope the Bears wear a patch or put a 76 on the grass this year at Soldier Field.
Cheers to Mongo, one of the greats. Agreed with both of you that his overdue induction was done while he was still around to see it.
A truly great Bear, in every respect. I'm glad he has finally been released from his illness. You think of what a physical presence he was in his day compared to how he was at the end, its a son of a bitch what age/illness does to you. RIP, HOFer
Just read about his passing. My condolences to you Bears fans. He was one of the big names that stood out as I was getting into the NFL back in the 80's. Helluva a player and a well deserved HOF'er.
