Could Russel Wilson play his way out of thr hall of fame? Despite having a down year Rodgers is tied for second among NFC QBs for touchdown passes is Rodgers down season being overplayed or are the other NFC QBs just not that good? If the 49ers go deep into the playoffs (think NF championship at least) is Brock Purdy the starter next season? If Purdy is the starter do they try and move Lance or hold on to him being they have had injuries to thr QB position for the last few years? Is Goff playing his way into being the Starter for the Lions again next season? With back to back injury plagued seasons who has the leverge in Lamar Jackson comtract negotiations? Will Brady stay in tampa or call it quits? (If Purdy falters does Tom head for the 49ers?)
I don't think he's a lock for the hall right now, but is there potential for him to remove himself from the equation altogether? I think we're at least 2 seasons of Russell playing like dog shit away from this being a reality, but it's an interesting question based on his current play combined with the situation in Denver. I think a new head coach comes in next season, and that alone is enough for me to believe he rebounds and plays solid football again in 2023. I'd have to take a closer look at when in the game Aaron is putting up those TDs. It could be garbage time inflation, or it could be a situation where it's a chase between teams. Anyone that has that info can correct me on the above (short on time). It's tough to argue that he's not having a down year because of the Packers record, but considering what he is doing after losing one of the best recievers in the league... I think he would at least play himself into an open competition to start 2023. I don't know what the 49ers would consider fair compensation, but if I were the GM in SF, there is no way on earth I would deal him. He likely has, but they definitely need to draft a passer in the middle rounds and possibly sign a vet to upgrade behind him. Jackson still does. The Ravens would have a PR nightmare in letting him walk, which is all he needs to force their hand. I don't see the 49ers in his future, and I doubt the Raiders would be able to bring him in. I might be tempted to bet a couple dollars on the Rams being his next landing spot...
Not sure Wilson was even in the definite HOF conversation. But give him another season there before we throw him out of the HOF conversation altogether. I think the other NFC QBs just haven’t been that good. Brady is having a down year, been quite a few QB injuries, couple teams on their 3rd QB. And Rodgers WRs certainly didn’t help especially early in the season. That said Rodgers is having a down year. I doubt it. If Lance can’t beat him out then Lance goes down as biggest bust since JaMarcus Russell. Personally don’t think Purdy is anything special, game manager at best. But if he makes it to the NFC Championship Game, more than likely means I’m wrong. That defense will keep them in any game though. Goff will be the starter but won’t prevent the Lions from drafting a QB early if they want. leverage still with Jackson cause the offense is nonexistent without him. I think Brady calls it quits. Team might even try to force him out. Won’t want to go down as the team that cut the GOAT, but it’s time for him to ride off into the sunset
Updated; 1. Geno Smith - 26 2. Kirk Cousins - 24 3. Jerod Goff - 23 4. Hurts and Rodgers - 22 lol, Rodgers is dropping like a rock!
Rodgers had a TD pass last night... so as much I hate to admit it, he still finds a way to be somewhat of a gamechanger even under not so passer friendly situations.
I agree with, Tim here. My gut instinct when I read your initial question, was to question the HOF status some have given Wilson... personally I havnt seen enough to make a judgment call either way. 'Potential' to get in... Yes; but, at this rate? No way! Key for Wilson, imo, is to stop having to be the saviour and fit into a scheme that has a supporting cast, from Coaches on down to the 0n-field players and as it stands thats just not a good team at the moment. At the same time, Wilson has to take some blame also, because he has looked terrible during a few games Ive seen the Broncos play.
