Lamar Jackson vs Patrick Mahomes. That's all you hear about this matchup, but it's really the Ravens vs the Chiefs. Last year's matchup ended up a classic as the Ravens took the Chiefs to OT before losing by a FG. This year, the two teams are a little different. This year, Lamar Jackson is a big threat with his arm, as well as his legs, and he has some toys to play with on offense. Hollywood Brown his the NFL ground running....fast. Brown has already amassed 200+ yards receiving as well as a pair of TDs. Lamar also has his reliable TE, Mark Andrews, who can become, I think, only the 2nd or 3rd TE in history to have 3 straight games of 100 yards and a TD if he has another great game today. In addition to the new faces on the Ravens, the Chiefs are missing a few from the last matchup also. Kareem Hunt is now in Cleveland, although suspended, and Tyreek Hill is out with injury. The Hill issue would have been great for Baltimore's chances (not that we wish injury on anyone), if Mecole Hardeman didn't bring similar speed to the table AND if the Ravens weren't also missing Jimmy Smith, who's out with his almost annual injury (to be fair, this one wasn't on him though). Regardless of what KC is missing, it almost won't matter because they have the human cheat code, Patrick Mahomes at QB. Mahomes was also given a shiny new toy named Sammy Watkin, who exploded onto the KC scene week one, while on my fantasy roster's bench (ugh). Today will be a battle of unbeatens. A battle of highly ranked passers after two weeks. A battle for the AFC. A battle of QBs that will likely end up as two of the feature QBs in the NFL for years to come. Let's hope it's a battle won by the team in purple. LET'S GO. RAVENS!!
With all the previous talk about Lamar's spirals, or arm strength, I'm interested in seeing how he throws if the rain starts up as scheduled
The decision to go for 2 was a fine one, but the play call was moronic. Run Jackson to the weak right side instead and let him win a 1-1 race with a linebacker.
Judon with a bone-headed pull down on Mahomes...... should have been a FG right here..... Good thing though is the pass rush is looking better so far. Kelce will have 150 yards plus today because the long standing Poor defending of TE's is already rearing its ugly head on this drive.
I wouldn't have even run Jackson. Should have gave it to Ingram and have Jackson fake a roll out. Everyone was keyed in on him
Chiefs gain with Shady, as he looks rejuvenated out there today. Quick cuts, sharp burst, looking like the Old Shady so far.
Judon definitely is a moron and dirty player. I really hope some of the young guys step up and we draft a #1 pass rusher this year so we don't pay him big money.
I like the aggressiveness, but we had 3 receivers (Andrews, Brown, and Ingram) in the same damn spot on that 4th down play. That's miscommunication on another level
Yeah those are the miscommunications you'll get with all the young pieces on offense. I still like how dangerous they look on offense though looking towards the future.
That hold on Snead was total BS, can already tell that the Ravens will be fighting the Chiefs AND the refs today.....
I really thought the secondary would come out big after being dogged all week about the Cardinals. Nope. They have huge issues with communication and free receivers.
Regardless of players, this is the same secondary we always have when Jimmy Smith is injured. It's like nobody knows how to play defense
You want to start pointing the finger in this game, but the whole team looks awful for the first half. No Humphrey apparently.
secondary is in a shambles, no doubts about that. Ofc Mahomes is the man and is decimating this defense big time
I'd just like to see the team get back some confidence and execute in the second half. Show you belong on the field with the upper echelon team.
