The Ravens entire another week and will be missing even more players. Backup QB Tyler Huntley will be out as he is now on the covid list. Shout out to all the people who kept saying the Ravens were "lucky" to explain their early 8-3 record instead of just giving them credit for perseverance and determination. The "lucky" team going into this game with half of it's intended starters out will now also bench their backup QB to play Josh freaking Johnson off the street. Not even sure if we have a backup to Johnson now other than Koch. No QB1, QB2, RB1, RB2, RB3, CB1, CB2, CB3, CB4, CB5, SS1, FS1, OLB1, ILB1, DE1, DE2, LT1, WR2, and more.....such a lucky team . As a side note, I wonder how good this team could have been with a healthy Stanley, Peters, and either Dobbins or Edwards all season. Just those 3 players staying healthy feels like it could have led to 2-3 more wins for Baltimore, even with all the other injuries. I can't imagine we don't get those 2 point conversions with either Dobbins or Edwards at RB, let alone how a few others games went. Ah well. In terms of this game, I again can't imagine this isn't a blowout. Baltimore kept it way closer than expected last week, but Johnson is not even on Huntley's level and Cincy blew this team out when they had CB1 and SS1 among others who won't play Sunday. The Bengals likely win the division this weekend, unofficially. I'll still be watching every minute while hoping I'm wrong. LET'S GO, RAVENS!!!
We also don't have a backup to Josh Johnson . He's the only QB to make the trip. Ravens are such a lucky team
In terms of missing players no they have not been lucky but quit a few games the ball has seemed to bounce their way when needed. Howeverer the amount of guys missing is starting to take its toll for sure.
And that's where I disagree, because it takes credit away from the effort of players. Here are the common areas people say the Ravens were "lucky" 1. KC fumble - which ignores the fact that Odafe Oweh made a great play to knock the ball out. CEH would go on to fumble in games after week 2. 2. 66 yard FG - even though everyone agrees Tucker is the best kicker in the NFL who reportedly makes 65 yards in every pre game warm up. Also takes away from the 4th and 17 conversion 2 plays earlier. 3. Indy missed FG - takes away from the fact that Campbell beat the line to block the previous FG and had beat the line the same way again. The Colts kicker attempted to adjust. 4. The "missed delay of game" - this is the only somewhat credible complaint because it doesn't take credit away from players. However it's been said for years that the play clock and tv clock don't always sync up and nobody from Detroit's sideline nor any of their home fans complained during the game. None of them seem to notice. None of thousands. Just people at home or watching replays EDIT: This is nothing against you, Jean. The narrative has simply gotten on my nerves. This is a heavily injured team that has fought and scrapped to win games through hard work, effort, teamwork, and trust in each other. It's annoying, as a fan, seeing that diminished down to "luck". Nobody has called them unlucky for misfiring on two different two point conversions that would have this practice squad team at 10 wins. But when they do something to win a game it's luck
Not sure if I've ever used the word "lucky" but when a ball hits the goal post and bounces over I don't think it's a crime to call it a little lucky.
See, I'll put it this way, if a punter punts and it bounced on the 1 and stays in the field of play, we give them credit. Tucker hit the part of the crossbar that allowed the momentum to carry it in vs the part that woupd have defected the kick. I give more credit to his leg strength and accuracy than I do luck. The most annoying thing is how selective it is. Gidion has posted a few times about the delay of game and how the Ravens lucked out for it but has yet to mention, to my knowledge, the Steelers d-lineman that was off sides on the Ravens 2 point conversion
Would be fine with me. I rarely call players/teams lucky for something they did. Bad officiating is one thing, but bad officiating shouldn't become "luck" selectively based on which team one wants to discredit. But that's just me. Most players been doing this all their lives. I just hate seeing their efforts discredited to "luck". For whatever reason it's become a piggy back thing against Baltimore this season. Someone said it and others piggy back off it. Chiefs had tons of turnovers from week 2 until like week 8. CEH lost a fumble against Baltimore and then again the following week in a 6 point loss to LAC. Mahomes had 12 turnovers in that timeframe. Only one team was called lucky after these 14 total turnovers.
