Because we have nothing better to do and this board is lame as hell... here we go! @ GB - loss - it’s the Packers on opening week in prime time. No way the refs will even allow it to be close. Rodgers may let the announcers and the refs fellate him on the 50 at half time. SEA - win - it’s here and the nfl will have to make up for the way we got jobbed last week in GB. That and Seattle is not at all scary anymore. ATL - L. They’re still pretty good. TB - W. It’s here and I think Winston gets intercepted a few times, two pick 6’s. @ MIA - W. They stink. And they have Gase stink. NE - L. NYJ - W. Bears are the better team. Their offense blows but it will be a close game. @BUF- W. No QB. Bears D stifles, Nagy sparkles. DET - W. Not afraid of these clowns, especially here. Stafford gets pressured and does dumb shit. MIN - L. They are the better team, win in a close one. @ DET - we get screwed somehow, L @ NYG - I’m not a believer in this team at all, but it’s there and they do have weapons. L Rams - L. Too good GB - W. It’s here, we’re due, they are not that good. Trubs has a good day and we get a special teams TD and/or a defensive TD. @ SF - the Garroppolo train came off the tracks in week 4, the 49ers are a mess. Easy W. @ MIN - loss 8-8 boys. Sorry.
Miami and Buffalo are the two teams that are MUST wins. If you can't beat those two, the Bears may have the #1 pick in the draft. A rookie Head Coach makes for a long season..that is why I think the Bears have about a 5 win ceiling in 2018.
Bears don't oplay ATL this year, week 3 is AZ. I'm putting them outside of the playoffs but a hell of a lot closer. I'd think 8 wins is pretty feasible. On a side note recent trend says the Bears will open with a win at the pack. The last 3 or 4 new coaches have won in their first trip to GB.
As much as the Bills may take a step back they still made the playoffs last year. This isn't the 2018-19 Cavs.
Last season we swept the AFC north I think winning 3 out of the 4 AFC east games isn’t out of the question. If Nagy is going to get this team going the first place we need to improve is in our own division I am going to go with a 3-3 record. Don’t know how that will play out maybe we split with each team maybe we sweep one and lose both to another. It’s hard to predict how the NFC West plays out. Every team other than LA has big questions so I’ll go with a split 2-2. This gets us to 8 wins with games against the other last place finishers in the NFC. Home against the Bucs. A team I think will be hiring a new coach going into next season and at the Giants. A team I think will be picking their next QB high in the draft next off season. I think we win both and finish 10-6 but miss out on the playoffs making us one of the hottest teams going into 2019.
If you wanna be a dick like spress and troll the thread, at least commit to it. Don't try and come over all reasoned, thats just not gonna work from a guy who a year ago was talking 7-9 wins for a team that wound up not winning a single game. Also, Shaun McVay dumbass.
Little early for a thread like this id say. There's too many unknowns. Whole new coaching staff, whole new Offense.... sure we've had lots of positive soundbites coming out of OTA's on the team website/propaganda channel, but i remember Larry "mouthpiece" Mayer telling us how incredible the Martz Offense looked too.... TBH i haven't followed OTA's that closely, but i think TC, where practises are open to public viewing, is where more accurate info will start to come out. I mean could pull a win-loss record out right now, but it would be complete guesswork. The two things i will say right now are id be pretty shocked if they weren't able to surpass last years 5wins total. They're far from the finished article but on paper the roster looks undeniably better overall. And they don't have Fox which is a clear plus. But personally i don't see this team as a realistic playoff contender next season. I've seen a lot written that seems to suggest the D being as good/better than last year is almost a given. I'm not sure about that. It really wouldn't surprise me if they took a step back. There are clear weaknesses there.
I'm not trolling..In fact the one reason I am here to discuss football is that I was reminded by several Bears fans on the Browns boards that all boards are open to all posters. If you want to have an intelligent conversation that is. If you are going to take something said a year ago and use that in EVERY SINGLE post I ever make again, well that makes you the dumb ass, not me. I was obviously wrong and have admitted it, I don't know how many times. It's time to move on friend. Now, discussing your post... I didn't realize you hired Shaun McVay. My apologies, if that was the case, I would agree with you as he showed he could be successful as a rookie head coach. Although, if you had hired Shaun McVay, he would no longer be a rookie head coach, so again...not sure I am the dumb ass here. I will say, having an intelligent CONVERSATION, McVay and Nagy follow a similar meteoric career rise. Someone that has climbed the ladder that quickly should have what it takes to make another leap. I just wouldn't bet money on it. Historically, rookie head coaches take a step backwards from the franchises previous year. No doubt Ryan Pace is trying to catch similar lightening in a bottle as the Rams did. I am not being a Dick here though. I am merely stating my personal perception of a first year head coach struggle possibility. That and the fact I have little faith in Mitch Trubisky. Again, this is the slow season...not enough chatter to go around on any single team's board. As I was reminded, by Bears fans on the Browns board, we are all free to post where ever we like. If that pisses you off Everton, well...Sorry, not sorry.
In all honesty, I think we see this very similar. On paper, they should surpass the 5 win total...What I was merely stating was using Miami and Buffalo as a gauge, if you can't beat those two it will be a long year. If you handle them easily, like you should, then 6-10 wins are very possible. As I eluded, much of it will depend on coaching, having a rookie in that aspect is not usually a check mark on the plus side of things.
Hey, when did you un-ignore button me?! Wooo! I would hope you'd be able to work out I was responding to your comment on rookie HC's in general. Obviously I wasn't referring to McVay joining the Bears, that would be dumb as. I can't be arsed going over a long historical check of how rookie HC's have fared, I do suspect you're right overall, but it may not be by as much as you think. There's plenty of rookie HC's who've come in and done well their first year and you wouldn't have to go far back to find some. I really don't have time to look it up, but Doug Pederson, Adam Gase, Dirk Koetter, Dan Quinn. Doug Marrone in Buffalo? There's loads. Hell even Marc Trestman won 10 games as a rookie HC. Anyway, personally i'd rather go with a young guy with potential than an over the hill burnout like Fox every time. That's just me. We'll see how it pans out. Come on, saying we have to beat a playoff team from the year before or we're in the running for the 1st overall pick.... how does that make sense. Im not really up for singling teams out right now anyway tbh. You did get one thing dammed right tho, it is the slow season. So by all means stop by and talk some football. But don't get all offended if someone doesn't agree and tells you so.
I'm not getting into a Cleveland discussion on a Chicago message board...But I will venture to say that the Browns have a better team on paper than the Bills and Dolphins. Those two teams have started a rebuild, they are where the Browns were last year.
A playoff team that jettisoned their QB for a 3rd round draft pick and will be relying on a rookie (and a bad one at that). Everyone raves about Josh Allen, but in reality, he is nearly the same player as DeShone Kizer, who went at #50 in the previous draft.
I'd venture to say you probably ventured to say that last year too...and that turned out horribly. Oh, and the Browns aren't still rebuilding? Only 4 other teams have ever been where the Browns were last year...the 1960 Cowboys...76 Bucs...82 Colts...and 2008 Lions. I'd venture to say the Bills and Dolphins are ahead at the moment....considering they, you know, won games last year.
Again, I didn't say that...What I said is that on paper, the Browns have a better roster than the Dolphins and Bills... Do you REALLY want to have a conversation about the Browns or just insult me? There are Bears fans that have come to the Browns boards to talk Browns. We are both wasting time if that's all you want to do. I am not going to get belligerent, or call you names, or resort to any other low tactics. That is not why I am here. I have a low opinion of the Bills and Dolphins, if you would like to discuss teams on your schedule that have a lower caliber roster, we can do that. That is where I am coming from, I believe they are the worst teams on your schedule due to their current state. The Browns aren't on your schedule, otherwise, they would have been mentioned as well. You already beat them last year, so I think YOU would probably assume they would beat them again this year, so it is really irrelevant to this particular conversation. If you want to get into a conversation over the number one pick, THEN the Browns would be relevant to the conversation. That isn't really the conversation though, the comment was about beating the two worst teams on your schedule. At what particular moment? The moment the season ended? The moment that one of those teams (that were in the playoffs) sent their playoff QB TO the Browns? The moment of free agency beginning, or semi-ending? The moment that the Browns drafted (2) players in the top 4 overall? The CURRENT moment, is what I would say you are referring to since "at the moment" refers to right now..SO, what does anything that has happened in past seasons have to do with the current moment?
