After 18 years our HOF QB is retiring and as fans we want to know how the Franchise is going to approach filling the position. currently we have 2 QB’s under contract, Rudolph and Haskins. As GM what would you do to fill out the position, usually we bring 4 to camp? Do you get a FA and sign for a couple years? Maybe Trubinsky, Winston, or someone else. Do you draft your next franchise QB in the first round? And who? Willis, Pickett, Ridder or someone Else. Would you trade and Why? Rodgers, Wilson, Jimmy G? This is a tough one, because we have a lot of holes, I really would not sell the Farm and eat a lot of Salary cap up for a Rodgers, Wilson type QB. I actually say this, they should roll with Rudolph, pickup up Trubinsky to compete. Then maybe pick up someone like Strong from Nevada. I’m not saying draft Strong in the first either, just crazy talk. His injury history could cause him to fall a bit, thinking 3rd or 4th. Your Thoughts????
I really think Winston would be great for this team. He would be affordable too. If he looks good, he's young enough to keep for awhile. Since he's an FA, the Steelers could keep picks and fill holes in other areas. I'm not sure there's a Burrow or Herbert blue chip QB in the draft and there certainly won't be at 20. Winston has shown good upside. I hope they get him.
Im rolling with Rudolph myself. If a qb were to fall to 20 maybe i look at him but probably not being most everyone is down on this QB class. There are a lot of holes to fill and its doubtful any qb in this class is BPA at 20. Im not tradding for Rodgers because the price will be steep (if im the packers talking to the Steelers it multiple 1s plus TJ Watt) and he seems to drama city anymore. Might consider Wilson if the price is right. Odds are its to high though. Stafford cost the rams 2 #1s and a #3 plus goff so that gives a starting point for what Wilsons would be. I can already here people shouting Id trade Rudolph but it likely wouldnt be him that was asked for if they did ask for a player. Would not touch Watson if they were giving him away. Yes its accusations but with 22 I dont want him. Sure he might be talented but some things are bigger than the game and this is one of them. Winston is interesting as a free agent. Like dirk said he should come at a decent price but I think he will resign with the saints even with th coaching change.
So Wilson gets traded to Denver for everything but the kitchen sink. Instead of Denver looking for a QB it’s Seattle. do they Select Wilson 2.0???
I’m a Georgia fan and think Davis is a great player. We can’t trade up that far, but we can trade up for Willis.
Georgia lineman Jordan Davis, at 341 pounds, runs 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds at NFL scouting combine
Looks like Trubinsky is coming to The burgh, 2 yr deal not sure how much though, someone have the details??
I couldn't imagine the Steelers giving up the king's ransom they want for him. They were smart to take the route they did, although I'd have been happier with Winston.
Me too, but I also heard he won’t be truly ready till training camp. I think they want someone who can actively be with the team not rehabbing.
I really like the signing. Details on amount have yet to be released but I’m sure it’s in the 10-15/yr range. Even if it’s just a stop gap for a a year or two, he’s an upgrade over what they currently have and should be, arguably, better than Ben was the last two years.
