I only heard the first few minutes but a lot of questions about Parkey obviously...

Pace emphasized they need to be better at kicking field goals and while he didn’t answer whether Parkey would be back he emphatically replied that yes at the very least there would be competition. He really didn’t have anything positive to say about Parkey.

Nagy was asked about the Today Show appearance. Said Parkey didn’t mention it in his year end interview. Also said he felt that the appearance was more of a “me” thing versus a “we” thing when he prefers everything everyone on the team does to be “we” things.

Sounds like they aren’t happy at all with Parkey going on TV. Also sounds like he’s likely not gonna be back.

Yeah, gonna go back and listen to it this evening. Good to hear that the reaction was different than the usual, "We support him" kind of stuff. Guy can get the hell out.

One thing I will say for Nagy...his pressers are never the usual stuff.

There’s no bland rhetoric or coach speak. He’s open and honest and he always seems task driven. Heard him talk about being excited for Mitch and the offense when It’s time for minicamps because this year they don’t have to learn the playbook and language and can just focus on improving on what they already know.

He also said he wants to see Mitch go from being a post snap reaction QB to a presnap read the defense and adjust QB.

His pressers are a breath of fresh air compared to past head coaches.

Pace essentially called signing Parkey a miss in free agency.

So why didn’t you just cut him mid season?

Nagy talked about Kareem Hunt and second chances.

Pace’s words on this offseason...”either you’re getting better or you’re getting worse.”

I could see giving him a pass if he had been here longer but he's only been here 1 fn year so bye bye now , mistake made so eat the money and get someone in the position that can make the fn kick when needed . I think Robbie would love to come back but he's going to cost $$$$$ so we shall see how it plays out.

Sounds like they aren’t happy at all with Parkey going on TV.

Would that have been an independent decision of Parkey's or doesn't he have an agent that would dissuade him from doing that? They have something like, "BE OBSESSED" on the walls in their locker rooms ...

Yeah i don't think they're happy with that either. Pace had a look on his face like he'd just found a pube in his caesar salad. It was a reassuring reaction from both of them. I don't really care how much of a role the Today Show plays in getting Parkey cut, just that he gets cut. BTW, i haven't watched it, but what was the purpose of that anyway? Was this the opening gig on the Cody Parkey sympathy tour? F that and F you Parkey, you little worm.

Back to Pace for a second, you think he's enjoying life a little more these days? Guess thats what 12-4 does for you. Gone was the best suit and perfect tie combo for one of his rare public outings, in was the Bears training T and two tickets to the gun show. But how in the world is this guy such a shitty public speaker?? Maybe a little less time pumping iron and a little more with a presentation coach buddy.

This is all small potatoes of course, but it does amaze me every time just how bad Pace is at speaking publicly. I mean his opening statement couldn't have been more than 50seconds and he couldn't get through more than 10 syllables without looking down very obviously at his cue card for the next catchy buzz word to drop in. Fox could always throw some shade on Pace at these things, but Nagy's so able he threw down a solar fucking eclipse!

    Anyway F it.

Were you not shocked how many questions were asked about this? Of course, journalists are like seagulls at the beach, the more you give the more they want. Which tells us that Pace/Nagy gave quite a bit and that i found very surprising.

Pace could've shut it down with the very first question but chose not to. Which then led them to Nagy, and while he was clear he didn't talk football specifically with Hunt, he just couldn't stop. I think he took 4 questions on Hunt and gave lengthy answers to each. They then went back to Pace(!) and it wasn't till this point that he clearly felt "we're talking about this too much" and backed off. But man, Nagy. He spoke about 2nd chances, about Hunt being nothing but a good kid when he was around him, about work ethic/ never missing a meeting/ never being a problem player......

It really didn't seem that hard to read between the lines here. Again, football wasn't mentioned and im not saying they make a run tomorrow. But if you were gonna start to rehabilitate the public image of (potential future)player, you might start like this. 6 questions is way too many to be taking about Kareem Hunt at a Bears end of season presser.

At the very least it seems clear that these two have spoken about this, dunno what it means but we'll see. 2 months ago i would've said this franchise wouldn't go near Hunt. Now? Really not so sure....

There wasn't a lot else. Pace made it clear that Pagano was all Nagy's choice which Nagy backed up(none of that hugely surprising). But Nagy spoke about Donatell too. Clearly what Donatell had to say in his interview didn't win Nagy over, big call though. I thought they both said nice things about Fangio which he deserved.

Final thought, Parkey. Pace basically ended the subject on the question of how much his decision will be based on the money Parkey is due. And he said "the most important thing isn't money, the most important thing is performance". Glad you figured that out now that everyones season is over Pace. November might've been better tho. Either way, i hope people hold him to that statement.
