Helluva rookie QB showdown coming Sunday in Baltimore, with plenty on the line... This one is gonna be fun.
This week the Browns partially hold the fate of both BAL and PIT playoff hopes in their hands. As much as I hate to see the Squeelers win another division title and playoff appearance. I WANT to spoil any HOPE that the Ratturds have of making the playoffs. The can set the tone for next season. When the Browns become a ("THE") force to be reckoned with once again.
You know, when you stop to think about it, our Browns will play a part in knocking one of our division rivals out of the playoffs! Win and we knock the Ravens out of the playoffs. Lose and the Steelers are out. Personally, I would prefer to get our 1st winning record since 2007 and save some seats on the couch for some Ravens fans to watch the playoffs with us. We can send the Yinzers home early next year !!! {edit} We can send them BOTH home early next year !!!
How many offensive possessions will we get in this game? Baltimore's O runs and runs, and makes first downs, eating a lot of clock. It will make each possessions that much more important, and every score a prize. Their D then keeps fresh, thus their dominant performances. If we can drive the ball and make first downs, we can do the same for our D, and keep this close. As for the advantage.... IMO Baker has the better chance to find a way to the endzone in a one score game. If we fail to create drives, our D will get worn down, and we need them fresh. Gonna be a tough one, and getting stops will be at a premium. Gotta keep Lamar contained, then it's ours to take.
Yep. Peyton Manning holds the rookie TD record at 26. Although Peyton also threw 28 interceptions that season. Thankfully, Baker won't come anywhere near that number.... edit: i forgot. Russell Wilson also threw 26 td's as a rookie...
This will be key to the Browns success this weekend. The Ravens offensive strength is their run game; and containing Jackson's uncanny ability to make plays with his legs. If the Defense can contain Lamar and keep him from making more than a few plays with his feet; play the run as they have the past few weeks the Browns have a good chance to leave empty bank stadium with a win. Offensively the Browns will need to make use of Chubb and Johnson on the ground. The Ravens D is tough and have one of the better secondaries in the league. Grinding it out is the Browns best hope. This game may come down to which defense can create the most turnovers. I really don't have to tell you all how good it Feels to be rooting for a team that is STILL playing meaning Football in week 17, or how refreshing it has been NOT talking about April. HERE WE GO BROWNIES HERE WE GO WOOF!! WOOF!! KEEP THE RATTURDS OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS!
KEEP THE RATTURDS OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS! I'm cheering for the Browns for sure........BUT the Titans have to win to secure. Go Browns Go
I was listening to Willie McGinest talk about this and he had a plan that sounded wise to me. He said that you basically need to forget about all the fakes and misdirection, and just attack on defense. Assign a guy to go after Lamar, and assign a guy to attack the RB. And stay disciplined in that approach. Defenders get stuck in "no mans land" when they wait and try to dissect whether Lamar is gonna give the ball to the RB or keep it. Jackson is simply too fast, and he renders the 'read and react" approach practically useless....It made sense to me. McGinest pointed out that because of Gregg Williams' attacking and aggressive style on defense, the Browns might be better suited to stop the Raven attack than most teams...Just one of many intriguing match-ups in this game. Can't wait till Sunday. (Just pretend it's M&T Bank Stadium)
I saw that demonstration by McGinnest also. That's why I suggested that Joe Schobert could be the most important Brown. His job? Tackle Jackson on every play (even if he doesn't have the ball).
Yes. Hit Jackson every play. As long as he's running it or faking like he still has it, you can light him up. We have to be physical with Lamar, and make it tough for him all day...
If you guys win this game the talking heads are going to pump you guys heads up until they explode. I can definitely see playoff predictions coming.
