Beer slushie maker. Kind of a cool idea.

    Here's my problem.....

It says that topping off a glass of beer with a beer slushie will keep your beer cold for an extra 30 minutes.

WTF? Who needs a beer to stay cold that long? Drink the damn thing and it won't get warm! If you are the type of person that doesn't finish beers because they got warm.....you aren't a beer drinker and you should go home and stick your head in the oven.

    End of rant.

I drink beer kind of slowly. Like a beer will last me around 20 minutes or so. I don't like the idea of making a slushie out of it though, that seems impure. I am a pure woman. It's contradictory to me.

    :! :! :!

    Agreed *THUMBSUP*

For a "real" beer to be truly appreciated is should never be served "ice cold". The majority of good quality beers are typically best when served at "cellar" temperatures which range between 8C and 14C (45F-57F).

Most commercially produced beers, don't count as real beer.

Some beers are great at room temp. Some at cellar temps as you point out. Others are better at colder temps. All depends on the beer.

My problem is with people that nurse beers. I hate those people.

Does allowing your beer to warm to the proper temp count as Nursing *SCRATCH*

I have to disagree here. Ill take a nice Ice cold beer any day. I can appreciate the taste of a high quality beer at 57 degrees. A taste. Just because beer was invented before refrigeration doesn't mean its better without it.

  8. ok, purists, prepare to be disgusted.

back in the days when i actually drank beer, i still never liked the taste. therefore, to me, the ideal beer was an ice cold coors light, as it had essentially no taste at all.

as for nursing, screw that. i'm perfectly happy to either let someone else kill the beer, or let it die of natural causes :p

I've been off the Beer kick for some time now.

I'll still have a pint or 8 when in London. And a 12 pack of Coronas in Mexico is always fun.

But when I'm casually drinking these days - which is pretty much every day - I tend to stick to wine or whiskey. You can drink a lot more without having to piss every 5 minutes.

    Yes. Drink it or don't.

    Tim........can you ban lulz?

    Like forever?

I tend to drink more whiskey than anything else. And I'm definitely a wine lover. And a sommelier.

But if I'm working outside.....it's beer. And if I'm watching sports.....it's beer.

You can't watch football and sip Cabernet. I mean....you could. But you'd deserve to have your ass kicked.

BWW, due to his latest comments involving Coors Light and the consumption there of, Lulz has been put on double secret probation.

When I'm doing yard work I'll have 6 or 8 longnecks stuffed in a small wash barrel with ice. When your working in the heat the colder the beer the better.

But if I'm drinking a good draft beer like an Augustiner while sitting in a watering hole in the A/C I do prefer it at the slightly warmer temp they serve it at.

And with that said, no matter how the fucking thing is served it does not make it past the 10 minute mark.

Blang you may know about this, but this reminds me of when I was in Australia. Over there in pubs they do what are called Scooners, that's a beer served in a glass that is actually smaller than a half pint glass! And when I asked about the reason for such a limp-wristedly small glass, the reason given was that it was so hot over there that your beer would get too warm in a bigger glass. No it wouldn't! Just stop f_cking around and get stuck into the thing. So gay.

This actually got me into more than one disagreement over there, but trust me, when you see some massive rugby player type guy stood there nursing a drink that Tinkerbell the fairy could down in one its very hard not to take the piss : )

So yeah, the slushie idea, great for novelty value. But anyone that actually needs it should probably be banned from beer.

Don't know how often you BBQ, but a man HAS to drink beer while working the grill. Any other drink and you're breaking BBQ etiquette.

Def get away with that during soccer though right?

The only time I ever got one of those was when we would order a pitcher and those were the glasses they brought out. And not every pub had them and I never saw anyone who ordered a beer from the bar directly get one of those. I never it gave it much thought as to why we got glasses that size nor did I have any knowledge of the scooner nickname.

Although I've drastically cut back on my drinking in the last 4-5 years, I agree with the rest of you, if you can't finish your beer in a half hour you deserve a Louisville slugger to the face.

    Agree to disagree...

If beer needs to be ice cold to enjoy, then it's not "real" beer. I'd rather drink ice water.

  18. crextin Franchise Player Browns

Then serve it at the proper temp please...

It doesn't take long to enjoy once the beer reaches optimum temp. 4-5 swallows for every 22 oz served. :p

Tim, we need to introduce you to Canadians. They can mow a lawn, fix your roof, and build you a shed all before noon.

And they'll do it all for a few pesos.
