Welcome another Canadian team to MNC, I believe they're the sabres expansion twins.
Yes, the Nucks are the Sabres' sister expansion team in 1970. They're held in high regard in Buffalo for this, but especially for having the good graces to lose the first draft lottery. Gilbert Perrault was the clear number one that year. We wouldn't have had the French Connection without him. In the '70 lottery they used a wheel numbered 1 to 19. Vancouver had the single digits and Buffalo had 11-19. They spun the wheel and VAN started to celebrate that 1 was what it landed on. That is until Punch Imlach pointed out that the flap was covering one 1 in 11. Now that's my lucky number: first positive in Buffalo's glorious history, Gilbert's number, and it's what refs do to signify a touchdown.
The Nucks went from a true classic uni with their original to one of the ugliest ever with the candy corn colored V. Of course their ugliness made them a classic in their own right.
I didn't mean to offend any canuck fans with the video. I just saw history and figured there would be some kind of story, didn't know it would be insulting. It's still funny and somewhat true of that team that went to the finals, but I will delete it just the same. P.s- As a leaf fan I take my fair share, all in good fun.
Skinny, I am not a Nucks fan, but I don't think it would offend anyone. It's always nice to watch the history of a team's uniforms. The Nucks have had more major changes over the years than most. If someone wants to be disgusted they should watch the history of the Sabres' unis. They also started with a classic crest and switched to the angry goat and then the buffaslug. Even after reverting to something close to the original they rolled out their abomination of a alternate sweater in piss-yellow. (I wear mine proudly as an exercise in humility.) Fortunately the team retired it this year.
I have a real hard time not picking on Canada, let alone their hockey teams. I do love that country, but damm, they are fun to mess with.
i loved these unis. those colors went well together, you don't see that combo very often. i dig the symbol too.
How about the "flying skate"? http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...seys-for-one-night-in-february-192133677.html
