Vick is never a Steeler if Grad doesn't get hurt. They waited all of 48 hours to get another guy on the team and keep in mind this was with a healthy Ben who hadn't missed a snap the previous two seasons.

By contrast, the Cowboys lost their #2 in early August, their #1 a week ago and they still have sat on their hands which is why I asked the question, "Who will back up Dak?" Their lack of action is puzzling to me. They have a great nucleus of players on offense. A lot of marginal QBs could keep that team in the game with the offensive personnel they have. But they have to know the playbook.

And as far as I can tell, there are still a slew of "marginal" QBs available. Or has there been a stampede of signings I'm unaware of?

Dont know if this has been covered, but i'll just throw it out there. I think the Cowboys are still working on some things behind the curtain.

The Steelers place Bruce Gradkowski on IR and claim Zach Mettenberger off waivers from the Chargers.

And your first game is 11 days from now with a game in between. So whomever they choose will have about 5-6 practices for live action?

Again, I didn't come here to bemoan the Cowboys. Just don't agree with your notion all teams are done when having to turn to a 3rd string QB and I gave you an example.

But I will agree the Cowboys are setting themselves up to support your argument - for the Cowboys that is.

Three day tryout. Renner has to be sharp tomorrow to hold off Zach.

Only a little less than what Mike Vick got, and hell, that was plenty - he proved to be a world beater.

Really? Sure seems to be that way lately. Just sayin.'

How'd that fare for the 2014 Cardinals? I can play the example game, too.

I know - if only they'd have a GM like you in charge.

Then what was your point? I asked who will back up Prescott and you it doesn't matter, the season will be over. Now you're arguing the opposite.

Jon Dorenbos is through to the finals. The Philadelphia Eagles long snapper is one of five finalists who will compete to be the season 11 winner of America's Got Talent.

The America's Got Talent live finale is scheduled for two days after Philadelphia's home opener against the Cleveland Browns: Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 8:00 PM ET. The final results show will then take place at the same time on the next night, Wednesday, Sept. 14.

The winner of the competition earns $1 million in prize money. Dorenbos has a base salary of $985,000 this season, so winning would be quite a nice bonus for him.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? The stands were mostly empty, but the soggy show went on.

Mack Brown ran for 149 yards and a touchdown in heavy rain Wednesday night, leading the Washington Redskins to a 20-13 preseason-closing victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With Tropical Storm Hermine approaching Florida's Gulf Coast, the game at Raymond James Stadium was moved up 24 hours from Thursday, when the NFL's other 30 teams will conclude the exhibition schedule.

Attendance was announced as 42,996, however there only appeared to be about 5,000 or so in the stands at kickoff. Only die-hard fans stayed around for the end.

"You've got to love preseason football to be out there on a night like tonight," Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said.

More like, your sons last chance to make the NFL was possibly that game and you may never see him in an NFL uniform again to sit through that game.?

I was being sarcastic, Beach. Vick stunk - you and every other Steelers fan told me so.

Dude's doing great. Sometimes he's a little TOO excitable, but that's okay.

Good competition on the show. I'm a little surprised the Hispanic dance troupe didn't get in.

Joe debunked his 1 trick a few weeks ago, but it was still awesome. his latest one with the quarters and the footballs and map was awesome. no idea how he's doing it.

I laughed my ass off at Howie not knowing how to count money.

He must have just really wanted to trust him.

He did and still the Steelers weathered the storm. The season was not over. The Texans used (3) QBs last year and went to the playoffs. The Cardinals (your example) used 3 QBs in 2014 and went 11-5 and the playoffs.

Like most conversations with you this became about everything except the original point. Not all teams will fold when they have to go to a 3rd QB. With Dallas' o-line I think a 3rd guy could keep them in the game. Whether or not their defense could hold up would probably be tied to how well the offense can keep possession but it's possible.

  19. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

My original point - which you took and skewed to fit YOUR parameters so you could pat the Steelers on the back - was if Dak got hurt NOW (and with Romo out 6-8 games), Dallas was sunk, as would every other team if they faced a longer-term schedule with a 3rd stringer. Not 1, 2, 3 games.

But thanks for more of your sanctimoniousness.
