I didn't see an NBA finals thread, so i thought i would make one. Discuss the NBA finals right here. If a finals thread is already made i'm sorry.
Chose the Spurs. You've got to think San Antonio is incredibly motivated after last year. Who knows how many more runs guys like Duncan and Ginobli have left in them, they're going to go all out with this series, I think. It'll be a long series, though.
This has been one of the biggest, lopsided, asskickings I have ever witnessed in the NBA Finals. See you in Hell Miami.
The Spurs simply proved that a TEAM will always beat one or two superstars. Every win by at least 15 points and their only loss by 2. They even broke an NBA finals shooting record, Miami simply got dominated badly and are really lucky it wasn't a clean sweep
At one point in time in the NBA I believe this was the norm and more often than not was proven true. Unfortunately, IMO today's NBA is skewed towards individual numbers and the rules favor it. They built a cash juggernaut out of the marketability of Michael Jordan and it seems to me that they have been chasing that ever since. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Spurs dismantle the Heat and I am a true fan of that brand of basketball.
I agree with you and honestly, I don't even blame the NBA. Jordan just became a billionaire due to the marketing they started with him back in the early 90s. He's made more money off the shoes (don't get me started on this stupid concept) than he did his basketball contracts. Also keep in mind Jordan became a billionaire EVEN THOUGH he gave $440M to his ex wife in the divorce well after he retired. Freaking sneakers got him all that back and more in less than a decade and you know the NBA gets a cut of that. But it is very nice to see a "team" not only win but completely dominate the NFLs cash cow player and his background players
the spurs didn't beat them last year? their role players and bench were far superior this year than the heat's. the bench was where it's at and the heat didn't have it. done.
