First a little free trivia for you on Die Hard. The movie is based on the book called Nothing Last Forever which is a sequel to the Book and Movie The Detective which stared Frank Sinatra. Because it is technically a sequel the studio was obligated to offer the role to Frank Sinatra (73 at the time). Sinatra gracefully turned the role down and the studio moved on. It was then pitched to Arnold Schwarzenegger as a sequel to Commando he too passed on the role which then fell into the hands of Bruce Willis. Think for a moment how one of the greatest action flicks of all time would have gone had it been ol Blue Eyes in the central role. Now for the next question. Returning to Lethal weapon. Riggs has a dog that appears in all 4 films what is the name of that Dog (BTW its not the Rottweiler he doesnt join rigs until the LW3)
i read it was offered to Stallone too. And how the hell is it a sequel to Commando? I read that too and the Sinatra thing! Frank was way too old. Ugh. I didn't know it was based on a book. That's interesting. Great stuff Jean! A++ The dogs name is Sam!
yes U Dog! The best is when Robert Downey Jr tells Rodney Dean Martin wants to see him and Rodney sarcastically says back to him while chuckling "Dean Martin pfff" and Robert Downey Jr makes a face laughing at it. classic.
Commando is the best. Such a spectacularly stupid so-bad-it's-awesome movie. Die Hard never would've worked as a sequel to that, even if they obviously left the door open for a sequel at the end of Commando. They would've had to re-write the whole Die Hard script.
Hoosiers........One of my favorite sports flicks. What was the name of the basketball team, nickname included, and their opponent for the Indiana State Championship?
I think it was rewritten for Arnold, but it didn't make sense of it and so once it wasn't a sequel to Commando or the Sinatra film, it was standalone. i thought Arnold killed everyone in Commando and got Alyssa Milano back. How is there a sequel? I haven't seen it in 20 yrs. Oh I read yesterday about this -- the screenwriter wrote LW- Shane Black, wrote a bas ass sequel to LW, which was much darker, like Empire Strikes Back to Star Wars. Riggs dies in it to save Roger, but videotapes a message to him, saying he would sacrifice himself for Roger and his family. The whole screenplay is said to be brilliant and really dark, but the filmmakers wanted Riggs to live for more sequels, so the guy quits the franchise and the script is never used! wow. Google Shane Black to read about it.
Hey there can always be a sequel. How many Die Hards and Lethal Weapons have there been? But I specifically meant at the end when Gen. Kirby asks him to start his unit up again and Matrix says "this was the last time," and Kirby cryptically responds "until the next time..." They easily could've come up with another reason for Arnold to run around killing hundreds of comically inept guerillas if they wanted to lol. 20 years? That's too long man...I just watched it again yesterday.
bwhahahahahhha - so true U Dog. I haven't seen it in so long, I forgot. i almost lost my water on that one. fantastic work! A+++++ Too bad Arnold killed Bill Duke (remember when i said i would kill you last, i lied) that guy never ages! haha
Bill Duke was "I eat Green Berets for breakfast, and right now I'm very hungry!" "Remember when I said I would kill you last" was Sully (the little guy from The Warriors and 48 HRS) "What happened to Sully?" "I let him go." Awesome.
