    Well.......

If you get Zimmerman, his contract ends after 2015.

    So you gotta pay him.

    Trade and extend.

  2. Why not flip him at the deadline ? Just think of the prospect haul and the Cub fans jumping for joy while blowing up their Epstein fuckdolls.

It's all rumors. Chances are slim that anything gets done. I do however feel a major trade is coming within the next year involving certain prospects.

  4. Chances have always been slim with Boy Blunder at the helm. It's been a fan expectation I've grown to love.

If Baez starts to get his stuff together, he stays and they probably deal Russell as a headliner. If Baez stays at the same level, then he gets a new fan base to play for and Russell slides in. Too many players and too few positions to put them in leads me to believe it will get done, and it will be the best way to get high end pitching talent into the organization because they are at an advantage versus being on the free agent market against a plethora of teams.

It's fine to land a big fish on the open market, but the chances to land two are astronomical.

As far as the Zimmerman thing..you take it how you want to.

Not sure how much water any of this holds. They are just rumors.

If Baez stays at the same level, the return in a trade for him shrinks big time and you arent getting a top of the rotation type starter in return with him as a headliner.

He needs to come up at the start of the season very hot. Another half season of .170 average and striking out 40% of his PA will almost totally evaporate his trade value.

I said he gets a new fan base to play for. Never said he would be dealt for a TOR pitcher, basically pointing out that his stock went to shit.

And like I said, if he improves, he stays and the Cubs. They can then deal him or keep him. I'll try to be a little clearer next time.

Baez turns 22 in December. No one knows what he will become. He may fail completely. He may become a generational superstar. His ceiling is that high and his floor is that low. He just has to show improvement and adjustments next year. He doesnt have to light the world on fire at 22. This is baseball. There is a reason players dont reach their prime until 27 or so. Hitting a baseball is effing hard at that level.

Basically, we just want to see improvement from all our young players. Soler needs to make some adjustments. Im excited to see what Castro and Rizzo will do next year. They are both coming into the early stages of their prime and last year was good years. We will see Kris Bryant. Between Bryant, Baez, and Rizzo we should see some monster homeruns. We have all seen some of Rizzo's shots. Ive seen Baez hit plenty of 450 plus in the minors and Bryant has hit some absolute moon shots in the minors. I didnt throw in Soler's name that has sick power. Add in Joe Maddon and next year could be the funnest season to watch since '08.

Lets go get Lester, a mid rotation type, a solid veteran platoon OF, and a lefty for the bullpen.

After they roll out the red carpet (or brick dust stained carpet from the construction), will they have Lester in a video room listening to a Len Kasper voiceover with recessed lights shining down on the newly modeled Wrigley field, with Ronnie Woo Woo echoing in the background? ;)
